The company’s stated mission is to: a) build the best product, b) cause no unnecessary harm, and c) use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis.
Patagonia champions eco-friendliness in the production as well as the use of its clothing. Its garments are made from responsibly sourced materials, and are guaranteed for life. Further, the company nudges its customers to think twice before they purchase any of its products.

for a brand marketiing itself to be sustainable and still using plastic based fabrics...... the most i would buy from them would be their hemp based clothing. nothing else.
So you'd rather let all kinds of plastic go to the landfill rather than buy something from patagonia that they saved from the landfill and recycled into new clothing? I'm sure the people who run this company have put more thought into this than most of us regular consumers. I personally would be happy to buy plastic things to keep them fr going to waste.

Sustaining the company money, by putting it in a private trust and pretending it’s going to the environment.
My only criticism is they sell down and fishing gear. Leave animals and nature alone.
They use responsibly sourced down mostly from animals that are already being killed for food industry. Would you prefer they just waste the entire carcass of the animal by throwing it in the trash. I think that's even more disrespectful to the animals. Just like I dont agree with using and throwing away plastic, you can't make people stop wasting it, but we can make a small difference in voting with our dollars by buying from companies like this that use recycled materials like plastic that would otherwise wind up in landfills. Likewise I am happy to spend my money on companies like this who know they can't stop the killing of all these birds but they can make the best use of what is leftover from birds that are going to be killed anyway and otherwise wasted. There are many ways to look at everything. Perspective is everything. Sometimes the best way to make a small difference is to choose the best of 2 bad options.
