We had to start off with a bang by visiting the most famous lake in the whole region: Lago di Braies (Pragser Wildsee). This was our first moment visiting the South Tyrol region, where both Italian and German, as well as Ladin, are spoken throughout.
Lago di Braies was the calmest lake we have ever seen! And one of the most crowded lakes at the early hour of 7am. A must-do activity at Lago di Braies is taking out a traditional row boat out onto the water to immerse yourself in the green-blue water and surrounding peaks.
Lago di Dobbiaco (Toblacher See) was the next gorgeous lake on the map where the water was so clear that you could see the green algae wade calmly as the ducks swam across! Making your way south down the same road SS51 got us to the shallow and vibrant turquoise Lago di Landro (Dürrensee), and finally the deep blue Lago di Misurina enveloped by mountains and guesthouses!

Stayed in Ortisei last September. Loved it. Secada is absolutely AMAZING! Headed back in a month.
Seceda was one of our favorite spots there! We had such a great time up there and that’s so exciting you’re going back!
It’s nice seeing it’s not just about the mountains there but also lakes! How much was the boat ride and when does it start?
It was 29euros for 1 hour and the time depends on the season actually!

We went at the very beginning of October! We think end of May is a great time because it won’t be as busy but there may be snow on some of the higher places like as Seceda in Ortisei
How busy does it get at braies? It’s so beautiful there but don’t know how busy.

Thank you! It is possible if you start a trek very early in the morning as in before sunrise even. Some treks are much longer such as Tre Cime. Another option is to see the lakes first starting with Braies then doing a trek for sunset.
@@LaurenJason Thankyou! Are there cable car access in mid October to some of the mountains to take photos.. to save time .
@@saritasreenivasan1119 some cables will be open! If you search up the cable car you want into Google, their websites will give you their closing dates. Unfortunately, many cable cars will be closed due to the snow. But this is very dependent on the conditions each year so hopefully many will be open for you!
