  • In this new woodturning video I am using a 1/4 of a log for this project.
I love the way this wood turning project came out. The wood was a little punky so I wiped on shellac and let it soak into the wood to harden the fibers. When that was done I sanded it and added burn lines for accent. It was then finished with friction polish. I wasn't quite sure of the design of this vase when I started but I love how it turned out.
I hope you enjoy this video!
    Thanks for watching!

Looks real nice Phil. I have white and black oak 1/4 logs from my son. I've also tried a couple of small bowls from it, a long with mushrooms. Thanks for the video...Dan

I'm assuming the comment is for me. Oak is some good wood for turning.
      Thanks for watching Dan... Rus.

Very nice looking vase. What did you use for the “burn” marks?

      Thank you!
I used bailing wire for the burn marks.

      Thank you!
I found it in the woods, so unfortunately I don't know what kind of wood it is. It looks a lot like spalted maple that I've turned before.

Mmm... Got me stumped again, 1/4 of a log to make a vase? What about use 1/16 of a 2" long log would impress me more george, bet you could fetch 25 cents for that, may have to sit at the fair the whole weekend to make $2.00 better sell your pig for $4.00
