Great video with an honest, fair, and realistic comparison. When it comes down to it, it’s a personal choice based on what someone is looking for. Personally, I prefer the Prime4. Honestly, it really doesn’t matter to me what someone else prefers. If someone else likes the Pioneer, I’m cool with that too. If we both fill the dance floor and leave people happy, does it matter the brand? If we’re both having an awesome time doing it, the brand name matters very little. I’m from the old school, and there is way to much emphasis on brand names these days. I’ve seen some younger DJs who go out and spend several thousand dollars on their first set-up. No matter the price, talent is not included with your purchase. I’ve also seen young guys who buy budget or used equipment, and they can rock the party better than some big bucks DJ with no talent. After all, Pauly D (or Pauly STD as I like to call him) has nothing but high priced equipment, and it sure hasn’t improved his “skills”, and I use that term very loosely when it comes to him. Of course, half the time his expensive equipment isn’t turned on or even plugged in. His adoring fan base consisting mostly of 13 year old girls wouldn’t notice anyway. Lol As far as Pioneer dominating the club scene, I agree that’s very true. There’s no doubt that Pioneer makes a very good product. But they’ve also excelled at mass marketing and convincing a whole lot of people that high priced equals better performances. They’ve paid a lot of clubs and well known DJs lots and lots of money to promote Pioneer as “the best.” But, I think if we’re all honest about it, current similar priced controllers regardless of brand name aren’t really that much different from each other. Essentially they all do pretty much the same thing, with a few differences here and there. It seems like we see a new controller every week with a few minor additions, as the companies are in a constant battle to one-up each other. A big corporate pissing match. I really hate to sound like the old guy saying “Back in my day “, but back in my day a DJ had to be flexible and able to adapt quickly on the fly. Everybody had their preferences, but when it came down to it, we could move the crowd with just about any set-up. If a club had Pioneer, we used Pioneer. If it was Denon, then we used Denon. Same with Numark, Gemini, Kmart, whatever. Lol DJs were judged much more based on their talent, and not on what brand they used. Sorry for the much too long rant, but the number one advice I give anybody starting out is to find your own groove, perfect it, and don’t worry about the other guy. Use what you have access to and practice until your fingers bleed. People will be so busy having an amazing time, they definitely won’t care what you’re playing on.
Keyword is Stand alone. The Denon wins because it has a better screen and you can plug an internal hard drive into it. So what if Pioneer is the club standard. The Denon hardware just beats the crap out of Pioneer this time. $1699 for the Denon also beats Pioneer. Pioneer makes a brand new unit and gives it 2 channel stand alone mode. Real smart Pioneer.

Question I noticed the screen display on the Prime 4 shows the tracks scrolling vertically. Is there a way to position the tracks to scroll horizontally?
The engine prime softWare used to prepare and analyse is unfortunately behind on rekordbox. But it does the job already. The software on the media players themselves however is lightyears ahead of anything pioneer has. It has a multicore processor system that can analyze tracks on the fly. Contrary to what some claim this is pretty fast. So basically, if you’re a real DJ who just knows his shit, you plug in your USB and start playing just as you had to do when turntables where all you had. 😀
I'm not aware of any Rekordbox app that allows you to play from a mobile device. To use channels 3 and 4, you either need to use a laptop + Rekordbox DJ or Serato... or, you need to connect external sources to the back of the unit.
@@PassionateDJ Well i got a bit older stand alone, the XDJ-R1 you can use the pioneer app to play from your phone. Truthfully this in my opinion a full stand alone, cause you can play from cd/midi-laptop/usb or wifi connected phone/tablet tho i must say is more Apple orientated then Android. Must confess that i still love my cdj-1000 mk3 set cause of the bigger jogwheels.. it's for some seems a 'big thing' the missing size agreed that for myself is choosing bigger wheels over smaller ones. :)
Yes! To record your performance to USB drive connected to USB2 slot, use the MASTER REC (WAKE UP) button to start/stop recording. Or, of course, you could record in software if you're using a laptop + Rekordbox DJ (or Serato DJ, eventually)

If you want the experience of spinning on two Numark NDX-400 connected to an Android tablet with 4-deck app installed and that you will need to take with you everywhere to every gig... Denon Prime 4
I played on prime fours and I just couldn't stand the jog Wheels I so used to either actual records record controllers with serato or cdjs and I really don't want to use anything but those things and let's face it records just aren't used a whole lot anymore unless you're doing a hip hop set with a lot of scratching and s***
Does it work with VIRTUAL DJ ??
if you run Rekordbox timecode DVS do you need to keep it connected to laptop and is the license included?
Question I noticed the screen display on the Prime 4 shows the tracks scrolling vertically. Is there a way to position the tracks to scroll horizontally?
Shift + View should do the trick :)
The XZ doesn‘t allow 4 deck, USB music source control, does it? Also heard the Prime 4 software is light years behind Rekordbox, Serato & Co.
Lawrence O Thanks Lawrence 🤟
Prime is the best
Kind of hard to review gear when all you have is pictures. Have you actually put ur hands on the gear?
This video landed a few hours before the XZ was even available. So no, I hadn't put my hands on one 🙄
also I didn't use the word review
Can I use my iPad Pro with record box to activate all 4 channels or do I need to use a laptop?
Can I record a set within the controller? I have a Mixtape ver. 1 and the mp3 quality just isn’t there. Thanks.
Yes! To record your performance to USB drive connected to USB2 slot, use the MASTER REC (WAKE UP) button to start/stop recording.
Or, of course, you could record in software if you're using a laptop + Rekordbox DJ (or Serato DJ, eventually)
They both can record sets. Denon can do it on hard drive on system. Pioneer on USB.
loving the denon prime futures but can.i use it with djjay pro2 ?
could someone tell me wich would be better for including two vinyl turn tables?
Denon Prime 4 all the way.
Pioneer XDJ XZ. You can't use the effects on the Denon with external sources.
Pioneer totally lost it, both the game and their mind.
Just look at their new CDJ-3000 joke for 2400 bucks.
Can i connect 2 turntables on channel 1 and 4 to play records in stand alone way, without using the laptop and recordbox, on pioneer xdj xz?
Yes you can
Xz works as mixer just connect deck 3 and 4 and you good to go, use fx on turntables
@@gatisrimss thanks for your reply, so that's perfect to me i can connect also my turntables and play vinyls, a great solution instead of having djm900 and cdj2000 nexus for less less money.
@@FlashWarriorSala2 yes, no waste of money. Im buying xz next week, same reason, becouse there is possibility to connect turntables and other Cdjs :)
@@FlashWarriorSala2 by the way, check this out

The moment when you say, xdj xz for home, its a venue club gear or studio, not home
XZ should have been priced sub-2000$
Who the f wud connect a usb to xz 😂?
The XZ is overpriced trash. That tiny ancient screen is awful, the loop and memory buttons outdated, the CPU and RAM very limited. Also no SD, SSD and WIFI, no full track buffering and on-board analysis. You can't use 4 decks or even do longer beat jumps than 8. What a joke! 🤦♂️
forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360055224552-XDJ-XZ-max-8-beat-beat-jump-Why-
For 2200$ definitely unacceptable!
Please in italian lenguage
"per favore" according to Google Translate.
learn english dude, it's the universal language.
not very long after today the Denon DJ Prime 4 will be the foundation for the club standard future all-in-ones
You'll find out in time how wrong you are
Pioneer obviously dnnon lol amatures
