Some missed points: Bigger loop encoders, dedicated view/menu/lighting buttons, EQ knobs better visible (white rim) also speak for the Live 4. While better and bigger pads, booth EQ and more USB ports also speak for the Prime 4. By the way, the P4 can only show cover art and loop length, but not ANY further track/deck info at all. Lastly, the price difference is much bigger in Europe. Still, nice video. Can't wait for your next one!
👏👏👏 great points... No one mentions it in the comparison videos. (especially: Bigger Loop encoders, Better channel faders, bigger and more durable VIEW Button, dedicated Lighting and menu buttons etc.)
I just got my Live 4 yesterday. I love it. What a killer value for the money. The unit just looks and feels very sleek. The speakers are surprisingly good and can get REALLY loud. Add a powerbank with 12V DC output and boom, the ultimate mobile AiO is yours.
Great video, thank you! Love the quality of your camera, too. I snatched the SC4 right after the initial price drop. It's like a perfect hybrid of P4 + Mixstream! By the way, those speakers are dope indeed. I can DJ whenever and wherever I want. I only need 1 cable to my XT-15600 Powerbank, and volia. HUGE advantage.
I like the Prime 4 because I added a 2Tb SSD to it so I have all my music available plus streaming. Yes it is huge but not as big as my old Traktor S8 (which I still use occasionally).
Maybe this wasn`t the case when the video was released, but as of now you CAN use the denon players (like the SC/LC6000) with the SC Live to expand your setup to 4 physical decks.
I love your detailed and clear descriptions of features. I really feel like you spend the right amount of time describing long lists of features. Very interesting, informative, and useful. You're a very good video producer.
Have you ever used the Sc live 4 using just usb stick with music on and mix from that? If so, is it flawless? Are the speakers acceptable in sound quality and volume, for mixing in bedroom? Does it feel strange having the speakers right in front of you or impact your mixing ability? I’m so tempted to buy this just for the plug and play aspect. I have 1210’s and loads of vinyl but I’ve not used in years can’t have loud music and actually just want the simplicity of mixing mp3s and not having to search through my vinyl for every mix. Plus I could rip my vinyl.
Love the comparison between the two! Which one would you recommend for a mobile DJ that does weddings, birthdays, pool parties, etc.? I feel like the Prime 4 is overkill, but worry that the SC Live 4 might not be enough. Thanks!
if u consider zone output as a need or an amazing feature for your speaker setup then actually prime4 is better because it provides more routing option for your speaker and for different occasions in the same location.
@@djpatrickstallion7546 it essentially helps u to finish a pro audio like setup without a need for a mixer. I guess u ve met those crappy analogue pa mixers that has crazy noisefloor or faulty outputs
So, I’ve kinda decided on the Denon sc live 4. But I need to ask 1 question. I only intend to plug in usb stick loaded with my digital music and mix this way. I do not want to use the streaming services but may try in future. Will sc live 4 work perfectly using only usb sticks plugged in??? And are the built in speakers somewhat acceptable for bedroom mixing? I can’t actually play loud but wondering if they have overall decent sound quality and can it be fun just using those built in speakers, at home? This way I can plug my usb sticks in to it and mix right away. No laptop, no speakers, cables , dj software etc Just plug in to wall, turn on and mix.?
Hi brother. Im an hobbiest dj, only play in summer. In a small club for 500 persons. I can get prime 4 for more 200€ than sc live 4. But in generall do u think im gonna need to waste more 200€? I mean they do all the same. I sold my xdj rx1and im about buying denon because stream services. Hope u can help me..
The biggest thing you’d need to worry about is whether you want to mix external sources (players or turntables). The larger screen size on the PRIME 4 is preferable, but that’s not a dealbreaker. Get the SC Live 4 unless you have a reason to do otherwise - like wanting to add turntables!
@@PassionateDJadding turntables to prime 4 plus was my main reason to buy But I’ve ripped most of my vinyl and can play the MP3 on sc live 4 and as I like the idea of digital, convenience no digging for records (home mixing) I’m tempted to go sc live 4. Plus I can’t play loud music so built in speakers may work for me and if terrible, I could try and buy 40w good quality speakers. Have you mixed on technic 1210’s? I know it won’t feel the same but does mixing on sc live 4 feel similar to 1210’s? If not, how much worse is it? And is it still really fun? I remember after switching from belt drive to 1210 turntables, the belt drives felt like a cheap half working toy . Will sc live 4feel like this? Like when dropping a tune on belt drive, it’s slow not instant and direct . Song starts slow and you had to instantly flick the record to catch up and as it was loose it felt unpredictable and bad. Will sc live have this loose feel when touching jobs? If yes, will just riding the pitch mitigate this possible problem ? I need precise otherwise it will feel like a toy and I won’t be able to mix songs perfectly. Maybe all my worries are wrong and it feels nothing like belt drives but if I spend £1000 plus and my fears are true, I’ll be gutted. Even if I get a refund, I’m back to square 1 and scared to try again.
I’m not sure but I do know you can remove and replace crossfader on either prime 4 or prime 4 plus and both. I just can’t remember because I was more concerned about sc live 4 having non replaceable and that’s what I’m probably going for. If prime 4 plus had full fx down side of mixer like live 4 and it had built in speakers, I’d deff buy it but at double price, I’m tempted to just get live 4. Worst part is that I don’t even think I’ll use the harder to reach effects on prime 4 plus and if I buy it at £2000 instead of £1000 sc live 4 and do t use the effects and just use the wash effects that are easy to reach and much easier to select but I just can’t decide. Plus I’ll have to buy speakers for prime and as I can’t play loud music, they may be a waste. If sc live speakers are good enough to get me back into just mixing at home, the stand alone nature would be incredible and if I really don’t get on with built in speakers, I can buy a good quality small 40w pair. I wanted to plug in my turntables to prime but again, I want and love idea of starting to mix digital. More convenience, no digging for records, more features and I have most of my vinyl ripped , so I can still play on sc live 4with mp3 and possibly amazon streaming. But last problem, I’ve only mixed on direct drive 1210’s and I’m worried that whatever standalone I go for will feel horrible to mix on even after learning. Like will it feel like swapping my 1210’s for belt drives that I had briefly,? That would suck. Sorry for the life story 😂
Sure! Just plug the LC6000 into one of the USB ports and it starts working. Since there are only two USB ports on the LC, you can use an SD card (or streaming service) as your source. Works on the PRIME 4 as well. :)
@@PassionateDJso i can use two usb slots forr 2 extra ’decks and they can get thru the mixer channels too right? And i can use the sd card slot to get music.
