New Years Ball at the Opera in Ghent | The last one ever!

- Every year, on the first saturday of January.
The Opera of Ghent holds a historical Ball.
Unfortunately due to a new director of the board. This will be the last ball organized by the Opera.
I would like to thank Dance Master Lieven Baert for all the fun and beautiful dances all these many years.

the promendade footage was such a great non-invasive way to show off every single costume at the event, everyone got their little close-up! I don't know how vera could judge best dressed, every dress was so stunning

And the music is one that a lot of us _really_ associate with New Year’s Day, since it’s always one of the encores if the New Year concert in Vienna.

I've never seen such an event and it was beautiful! The Promenade was my favorite. All the Ladies were beautiful but, Nikki, I do believe you, your dress, your hair....you were gorgeous! Please forgive me for not knowing your husband's name. I'm new here. He was quite dashing, as well!

Lovely outfits (love your 'Ikea' dress and the violet fairy bustle) . However, I can see how important it is to have the right undergarments under a dress, even if the dress is only historically inclined instead of historically correct. Too bad they are not doing the ball anymore. :s

such a shame it is the last, it seems well attended, why are they ending it. especially now historical costuming is becoming more popular. there are some beautiful costumes there, and I agree with the judge on her choice of the lovely green bustle dress. I'm sorry Nikki, but I'm not a big fan of the 1830's, such a strange era for fashion. lol. you seem to pull it off pretty well though.
It is sold out every year, but the new director doesn’t want it anymore 😞

Lee-am I wonder how many of these couples are patrons and benefactors of the Opera? Perhaps they should mention pulling their funding....and how does one board member make such a decision? Chairman or not!

Sad that this was the last New Year’s Ball in that stunning venue! Why was it the last?
Because the opera got a new director of the board. And he doesn’t want to organize it anymore.
Does your fabulous yellow gown have 2 bodices or did you swap just the sleeves?
I swapped the sleeves! This week there will be a video up, on a easy trick to do that😉
I live in belgium and had no Idea this existed, and now it doesn't.. what a pity, where do you guys find out about this stuff?
There are actually a few more in Belgium. One is the winterball at castle d’Ursel. But I faint there will be one this year. The trick is to get on the loop. Once you’re in, you won’t have a weekend off😂 pandemic aside off course😉
