  • Initial review and first impressions of the Brownells BRN-15 11.5 inch upper receiver. As I mentioned there is little info on this upper on the internet. I decided to fix that. This is basically an unboxing and initial impression video with a little bit extra sprinkled in there. I did a rough and flawed accuracy test with 3 types of ammo (55, 62, and 77 grain 5.56). I expect this gun can do much better than what I show. After some more time I may update my findings at a future time. As of right now, overall positive experience. I have no affiliation at all with any of these companies mentioned. This is a completely self funded venture.
First personal RUclips video on my channel. Is it flawed? Yep. Is it endearing? Maybe if you ask my mom and my wife. Is it helpful? I hope so. Will I be back for a part 2? I would really like that.

Absolutely! So far I've got about 500 rounds. Progress will be a little slower getting more rounds on it because my range just got destroyed by a tornado. So far flawless though!

Also curious on the specs of your 16 inch rifle, looks very nice

Hey there, I really appreciate it! Working on getting that round count up as we speak. The 16in is a basic Aero upper with a Geissele rail and Zero Fail BCG. The lower is from New Frontier Armory and it is definitely the standout part on the whole build, it’s a very cool lower. Rest of it is just mil spec, Magpul, and DD irons. It has been a very reliable rifle for the last 3-4 years.

Some of the 11.5-14.5" i ve tried from elsewhere were all way over gassed. Interested in your long term thougts on the BRN

If you haven’t already, check out my second vid on it. You can see it in action a wee bit more. Ejection pattern is pretty good and I’m not eating gas. Doesn’t seem to me to be crazy over-gassed. It is a little harsher than my 16in but not by much.

Just a little bit deeper dive into it. 700 rounds later impressions. Checked in on reliability, gassing, tolerances, wear, and accuracy.

I used to do the 36 yard zero. I liked it pretty well. Trying out the 50 to see how I like it. I do like that the 50 yard zero holdover at close range is marginally less extreme, but time will tell what I stick with! I know plenty of experienced dudes that sweat by the 36, you’re in good company!

@@strongcontendervideo8906 its kinda like pick your poison. everything else i have thats 14.5 or greater its hard to beat 100 yard zero. i just got this exact same upper less that 24hrs ago. we all appreciate your time!

Not attacking...but not sure what you did to research the upper? There's a ton of reviews for years if you just google and search RUclips...I've seen at least fifty videos on the upper on RUclips over the years.

The BRN-15?? There is a lot on the BRN 180 but when I bought my particular upper there was very little info on it.

Just went back to double check myself. Still only found a handful of posts/articles that weren’t super informative on the upper I ordered. Found some stuff on the retro brownells uppers, the brn-9, and the brn-4. Plus plenty on the 180 but those are all pretty different from what I got. Oldest stuff I found on these particular uppers is only about a year old or less. I do really appreciate the comment! I want to make sure whatever I put out is as accurate as possible and entertaining! Could be that I’m using a different search engine too, you never know the internet is a wild place!
