- One of the leading stars of Entertaining Mr Sloane - Peter McEnery who starred as Sloane talks about his experiences whilst filming the 1970 British black comedy classic.
Sloane, a handsome, sexy and completely amoral young man, joins Kath's household as a lodger and proceeds to manipulate her and her brother, Ed. He is recognized by Kemp (Dadda) as the murderer of Kemp's former employer, whereupon Sloane murders Kemp. Sloane's "just desserts" are not what one would expect.

He was a real heartthrob when I was young.
Will always be my hero Mark Camford in the Moon-Spinners. It’s lovely to see that Mr. McEnery is just as gorgeous an older gentleman as he was back in 1964.
Underrated film, but with brilliant performances, especially from Peter McEnery as the beautiful, amoral hustler Sloane.

The film Sloane is Orton-lite, a sort of defanged Orton. However, he is terrific in the film.

I've seen the play and the film version of Mr. Sloane is even better. Its hilarious and touching at the same time. Beryl Reid owns this role, and the supporting actors are all tops. I read somewhere that Joe Orton was critical of the film, but for the story to work the character has to be desirable - the plot depends on that. It's a great film, and Beryl Reid? Hilarious. And Peter is the perfect Mr. Sloane. Way better than Dudley Sutton. Hot, but seriously dodgy!
