- The ZGMF-1001 ZAKU Phantom is a ZAFT Armed Keeper of Unity series Mobile Suit used by ZAFT. It was introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
The ZAKU Phantom is a commander/ace pilot use version of the ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior and features higher performance. Appearance wise, the ZAKU Phantom is almost identical to the ZAKU Warrior except for an additional shield on the right shoulder and a blade antenna on its head for C4ISR purpose (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance). The armament of the suit is similar to the ZAKU Warrior, and it also has the ability to utilize the Wizard System to adapt to different combat roles.
After the end of the first war and the signing of the Junius Treaty, a new generation of mobile suits was needed by ZAFT to cope with the technological and numerical restrictions placed on the superpowers as part of the treaty. The ZAKU series's ZAKU Phantom was one such machine. An enhanced version of the standard ZAKU Warrior produced as part of the "New Millennium Series" of mobile suits, it is used by commanders and ace pilots. As a result, most ZAKU Phantoms feature a custom color paint job, although some Phantoms are painted in the same green color scheme as the basic ZAKU Warrior.
Prominent ZAFT aces using the ZAKU Phantom are first war veterans Yzak Jule, Dearka Elsman and Heine Westenfluss, while other pilots include Rey Za Burrel and Riika Sheder, with nearly each of them piloting a custom colored version. Since the ZAKU Phantom was designed to utilize the Wizard System, each pilot fields his unit with one such armament pack, with the EX-M Blaze Wizard being the most prominent. However as the war progress, some of them switched to more advanced suits that become available later, such as the ZGMF-2000 GOUF Ignited.

@@gojihead3195 And the Windam does suffer similarly like the Zakus but worse, due to its large shoulders it could not equip the Strikes 2 of 3 original striker packs making it only use the Jet, Dopplehorn and Multi-Striker packs, what's worst is the Windam doesn't have a striker pack that could be useful in space (besides the dopplehorn) making the Windam (theoretically) equal with the Blaze Zakus in mobility but worst in fire power and versatility
アスランに怒鳴った後に嬉しそうな顔するイザークと、連携してアビスのジャベリンと片脚ぶった斬るシーンすこ。後ここには無いけどやたら強いザクに困惑するスティングのシーンも好き

ザクウォーリアの上位機種。
ザクウォーリアと違って指揮官機としての位置にあたる為、搭乗者によってそれぞれの専用カラーが用意されていたのが特徴的だった。
ザクウォーリア同様に各種ウィザードの装備が可能だったが、イザーク機のスラッシュウィザード以外は高機動汎用型のブレイズウィザードが主流でした。
大気圏内では何れの装備も空中戦が出来ないのがネックでしたね。
Yzak kept up with against chaos and abyss pretty well with just a zaku
People tend to forget that Yzak is a pretty insanely skilled pilot, lol. I do enjoy the look of the ZAKU Phantom he pilots in Destiny, but seeing him back in the Duel and using a METEOR was pretty hype.
not to mention him and dearka are veterans of the first plant-earth war so to have survived that means they are both very skilled pilots too.
At this rate, those Blue Cosmos did poorly choosing those 3 suits to steal. They should have stolen Zaku Phantom, which can easily beat the shit out of those 3 stolen Gundam suits.
Part of the situation was Yzak, Dearka, and Athrun were veteran pilots and the Phantom Pain trio weren't. They would've exploded in the earlier stages of the show if they stole ZAKUs instead, and were rather protected by the Gundams' mobility. Stealing Gundams have their merit outside battle as they were prototype of ZAFTs technology. Maybe without the stolen tech, the Destroy Gundams wouldn't seen the light of day.
@@Botan_Katou the going rumor is that the the white Gyan was SUPPOSED TO BE Yzaks! Makes all the sense when you look at the weapons load out AND the white blue colors.
The damn thing is totally the successor to the Goof and the slash zaku phantom
映画のあのディアッカとイザークが言ってたあの「良くもまあこんな古い機体を取っておくものだな。」「そうか。俺は結構好きだぜ。ザクの駆動系組んでるこの機体。」って会話がお気に入りです。デュエルとバスター、ザクも好きな気持が伝わってくるからね。
最新鋭機相手にアスラン、イザーク、ディアッカは互角以上に戦うの強過ぎる

主役のインパルスを目立たせる為かと。
たった一機で大立ち回りしてた方が映えますし、ピンチを演出しやすい。だから飛べるセイバーもそれを支える裏方になってる。
