@@CrazyPlantGuy Yes please, your videos have been super helpful. I have a Ficus that's finally putting out some new growth thanks to your other video. :)
A lot of these PlAnT gUrUs don’t like to admit that it’s easy to have and grow nice long plants if you buy them as nice long plants. I bought my string of hearts in a four inch containers with no trails over the sides yet. Homie bought a lush two foot long soh
I've been into plants for 3 years. I always buy long or established plants. I say this because people even big stores as well. They will have plants that look really nice just bc they trim clippings and they just put then in pots without proper rotting or them being properly propagated which in a couple of days might rot because of over watering. I always purchase my plants from small businesses bc they actually love and care for their plants. Best wishes to you and you're plants 🙂
I bought a baby one that started off as 3 single little cuttings in a 6cm pot and was about 15cm long. She's now in a 9cm pot and has shot out 2 new vines on the top and grown to about 25cm in 6 weeks and she's 3 meters away from a north facing window on a shelf so gets not much light apart from first thing in the morning and she's growing well for me.
@@blove3414 Definitely small business owners take more care of their plants! I had an accident when mu String of Hearts fell from a bracket shelf, and chopped half the length off on the way down by hitting the radiator. Thanks to the internet, I found out how to propagate in water and now have lots of them..But Plant Guy has the best S.O.H EVER!
Aww. They can be tricky, if you can give good lighting and water it appropriately base on the size of the plant and lighting then it can work well for you.
@@jessstaxx1864 Jess, pearls are tricky. I killed mine too, more than once. My string of hearts on the other hand, is a breeze. Enough light really is crucial.
I got my string of hearts passed down from my grandma so it’s very long but very stringy and not full at all. This definitely gave me some good tips to revive it to its former glory!
I have a variegated string of hearts that I had under it's own grow light (a knockoff aerogarden with just the lights going, SOH in a small pot just set on the top surface) and it FLOURISHED. Nodes were super close together, leaves were getting fairly large and full, absolutely stunning pink colors coming through. A few months later I put the aerogarden thing away and moved it to my plant cabinet, and all the new growth since has been anemic and leggy. I'm going to chop and prop the new growth and put it back under a bright grow light. These little guys can handle much much more light than most of my other houseplants and even seem to thrive in it.
I got mine last year and it was doing soooo good. I was using a grow light bc my house is basically a dungeon 🙄 I was being super careful not to over water her and like I said she was doing great.. until.. like two months ago I made the terrible decision to repot, she obvi didn’t like that bc soon after she croaked. I was able to save about 10 strands and am currently trying to root them up.
Oh no. I’m confident that String of Hearts doesn’t need to be repotted if they’re doing well and growing healthy. They like to be more root bound since their roots are also shallow and more threadlike. Good thing you were able to save some strings. 🤞🏼
I find that the lighting is crucial to growth of the leaves combined with watering, BUT to stimulate the plant to build “Tubers” or new strands I mist My Baby. It keeps the leaves moist but most noticeably it activates the nods with moisture and that with the light brings new growth. Also if You have a “Bald head with Dreadlocks” plant, mist the leaves and stems and that will encourage the nodes to grow. The “Tubers” then cascade down making the plant fuller. Also I have had success simply sticking the stem with the node in the moist soil. After a while, 2-3 weeks the roots are formed and starts growing. As long as You keep the essentials, She will grow. Your Baby is beautiful. That plants are Living Beings I’ve given most of Mines names. Each has a different story and Character. I’ve named My Baby RAPUNZEL. Thanks for the video and info. ✌🏿

Oooh yes, desert climate and south facing will definitely be too much light for this plant. I have mine about 10 feet away from window and live in Canada. Although I’m sure it can tolerate being closer, I probably wouldn’t want to put it eight against it just incase it gets burnt. 😅

In my experience, this is one of the easiest houseplants out there. I’ve had one for over twenty years. It’s moved with me several times, been cut back completely more times than I can remember - I have no patience for de-tangling, and they grow so fast anyway. I had it in a shallow clay pot, in a room with a skylight, and let it dry out completely between waterings. Sometimes I move it outside for the summer. Mostly I ignore it. Since they became trendy and are now ridiculously expensive, I divided mine to share with 2 other people. It was time for a repotting anyway. All three of the “new” plants are doing great. I also started some leaf and stem cuttings as an experiment. No way in hell am I paying $20 for a stem cutting of this plant, that is just ridiculous. You used to be able to buy a 10” hanging basket full at Lowe’s for less than that.
It always fascinates me how something like house plants can go in and out of style. I took my 4 year old daughter to the garden center to try and shake some winter blues today and she wanted one so bad. The fuller 6in string of hearts was $40. I was floored. So I compromised and got her the $8.99 2in pot that had 3 strings in it 😂 I figured we can use it as a teaching experience on how to propogate and how to be patient.
@@dobaleedo don’t worry, they grow very quickly. Put it in a bright spot, hopefully where it will get light directly to the top of the plant. For the winter months, I put a plant light bulb in the fixture over my kitchen sink, and have mine hanging there under it, where the light shines on the tops of the plants. If it only gets light on the side hanging pieces, the leaves will die off at the top and the plant won’t be as attractive…..and always under water. Don’t wait until it’s bone dry, especially with a young plant, but don’t water until it feels dry. This will require checking frequently, but that is important with plants. You have to love and care enough about them to check them frequently, every couple days. I’m trying to teach my niece this right now. When it feels dry and the pot gets a very light weight feeling, time to water, and do so sparingly. More plants die from over than under watering, especially succulents. Putting the plant in a bright indirect spot outside in the summer always makes them happy too! I hope your daughter enjoys her little plant, and that it grows well for her. I didn’t have much luck with stem cuttings. I think with this plant, you need mature cuttings that are growing little tubers along the stems.
I got my SOH as a 2' cutting its now growing at a crazy pace. Where it has dropped 1 leaf the plant shoots a new section of vine. Lol I am still so in love with it. Yours has me setting goals 😁 Mine is under a bloom 1000 grow light, 4 1/2' away give or take.

Started to detangle my string of hearts when I was watching this video just about when you first uploaded, finally done now. Thanks for the vid, I'll try following the tips and get a healthy pot or two of string of hearts :)
Last year I found some individual leaves on the floor of the garden centre and I thought I'll stick them on some moss with some other props and see what happens. Other props rooted and we're moved, little leaves were alive and doing nothing, until I pulled one and felt resistance. It's been about a year!, but all 3 leaves have formed their own tuber. So yes, this isn't for the impatient, but even individual leaves, with no node and only half an inch of stalk may give you a new plant. Plus if you were going to throw them away anyway, you've lost nothing. Also, because it was so long , I did forget about them, so at times they went weeks with no water. Such a tough little plant
Oooh that’s so awesome. Always curious if heats wit a tiny petiole can grow into a vine. Agree, no loss in putting them in a prop box and see what happens. And yes, this plant requires a lot of patience. Thanks for sharing your experience. ☺️
Hai, I saw your channel unexpectedly when I was searching for the care of string of heart, I live in Belgium from last year.I am very much interested in gardening but in a rental apartment I have limitations so started to grow some indoor plants but I had no idea about which one is indoor which is outdoor. And buying plants are also one of the difficulty I faced as it's very expensive I can't able to afford it. So I ask my friends and collegues for plants, in that way I got string of heart I put that in water for propogation and it's rooting

Your sting of hearts is beautiful 🥰 I wish I knew how to add a pic or vid. I'm in Western Australia Perth. I have taken to the propergation(?) method of allowing the mother plant grow into another pot, placed under it. I have had much success with this. I would love for you see my verigated string/s of hearts. I grow all of mine outside, even thought it's freezing here atm! 🥶 The biggest problem I get with my string of hearts (& some of my other succulants) is mealy bug! I HATE these things! I think of them as 'plant nits' (head lice 🤢) they really Grose me out! So from time to time I get my cotten tip out & my isopropyl alcohol & dab that around. It is a bit of an ongoing issue, especially in winter. Happy growing ☘

Great video, thanks very much for sharing. I love my string of hearts and am always trying to improve my care for it. Thanks for the tips . Do you know why sometimes the lawer leaves be one smaller? Is it water issue or light?
Hello Christian, I don't have a string of hearts yet! I want to share something with you. I recently repotted a neighbor's plant, within 10 days I had an infestation of......you guessed it, fungus gnats. I thought to myself.........how is this happening. I told myself, there must be eggs in my soil?! I put approximately 4 cups of soil into a plastic bag and tied a knot. I brought the knotted bag into my house, to keep a close eye on it. Sure enough, a little over a week.....that plastic bag had about 35 fungus gnats. Just wanted to share my finding with you. I know that a lot of us are getting ready to put our plants in bigger pots. You might want to see if your soil is gnat free. P.S. No, my soil is not old or moist. 😊
@@jenniferdaniels3076 No, it was not Miracle-Gro. Last week I ordered some soil from Foxfarm it is called Happy Frog and I paid more than I usually do, if it solves the gnat problem it is worth it. I am hoping that it is gnat free. I have only tried it on one of my plants so far. Seriously, I never thought that I would order soil! I learned that soil should not be on pallets outside, like all of the big box store. I was told that the moisture attracts the gnats to the bags and that is how they get into the bags?!
i really love the idea of using someones photo and help them with their specific issues.

Mine is 3 meters away from a north facing window and has grown about 10cm in the last 6 weeks. Its growing and filling out well considering where it is.
Thank you so much! My ordered variegated soh is due to arrive in the next days and your video has already helped SO MUCH!!!
My husband knew how much I LOVE your string of heart so he surprised me 5 days ago withh a 3" pot string of hear VARIEGATED!! It has 6 looong strings. And BOOM here you go video 🤣 I'm propagating it just in case i kill the mother plant😅😅 thanks for the video! Regard from a Panamanian crazy plant girl in Lithuania 😁
Yay. Congrats. What a great surprise gift. Variegated string of hearts are beautiful, i do find they tend to grow slower than the non variegated. part. But good call on propagating a few hearts. Best way to duplicate but also save a plant.
This is such a great video!! Love how you used someone’s struggling plant and gave detailed troubleshooting advice!!
The term ‘sexy looking’ is soo apt!!!
Your the teacher, we're the students. Spectacular String of Hearts 🥰.
I can't wait to see you repot this! Lol, and you'll let us all watch you I hope!🤗🕊
I just got a string of hearts it's only two long strings I have it in my east window and it's already growing (have had 1 week) I am super excited because my husband was like "you got a new plant...I like it's little hearts" then he looked on top and like I said it's only 2 long strings so it's sparse lol and he was like 😬 is it dying and I was like no lol and showed him a pic of ur plant and he said it looked awesome! I love your videos so much and the chopstick method has seriously been a plant saver on my larger plants
Very descriptive and helpful video I must say
also u know how and what to tell viewers seeking information
My SOH is a baby but she is growing. Her leaves are thin and she is facing a NW window. I water her every week as she is in a small container with well draining soil. So far so good. Thanks for the tidbit on caring for the SOH!
I love string of hearts I just got one today as a wish list plant my mum bought me one I am so thankful! I also got a pilea I bought so after I am going to watch one 9f your videos for that :)
Started to detangle my string of hearts when I was watching this video just about when you first uploaded, finally done now. Thanks for the vid, I'll try following the tips and get a healthy pot or two of string of hearts :)
Thanks for this super detailed video. I have a string of hearts that might be beyond help, but I will try to resuscitate using this info.
when you said “maybe do some plant work while watching this video” I LOL’d so hard while cleaning the leaves on my lemon lime philodendron 😂
🤔
This video was so helpful. I hope my SOH can grow to look as lush and healthy as yours.
I have 3 string of hearts! One this long and the other 2 half this size and I love em so much!
Love you'd channel. I went back & binged on your earlier videos & u have come so far!
Awww. Thank you. ☺️
I just decided to binge all of your video's, take a lot of notes and live in a jungle
I love the introduction, too funny.🥰👏🏾🙏
I love your channel man!!
Awesome content! A lot of useful information. Thank you so much!! Subscribing!
You rock! Thank you for listening to your fans. Spent too much time yesterday attempting an untangling 🤪. Will sit down now and get my much needed tutorial. 💚
Awww thank you. Yes untangling string of hearts is a lot of work and takes time and patience. Good time to definitely take a break 😁
Your videos are extremely helpful thank you so much. Just gained a new subscriber 😄
I just got a 5 foot long one !!! Thanks for youre tips 🥰
OMG can’t believe you’re brushing that plant! 😂😂😂 and yes this is why my string of hearts died. YOU WIN! 💁🏻♀️
Thank you for your previous SOH care video… now I managed to grow SOH healthily and beautifully. I got bright indirect light ~ west facing balcony in tropical climate and it does get dry rather quickly but I managed to control the watering frequency… thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Omg the brushing in the beginning was totally asmr. There's your second channel.
Yes! Sooo relaxing and tingly💕
Beautiful 😍 I finally got my hands on some SOH’s and plan on propagating them using the butterfly method as soon as my spagnum moss comes 👍
Yay. Congrats. Love propagating string of hearts.

I found this video, extremely helpful. Thank u
amazing channel! Happy I found it!
Very beautiful. And great information for any plant. Thank you.
YES!! Thank you for this video. My SOH is super long but not as dense and I have been worried I won’t be able to propagate it properly. Perfect timing! :)
Glad you found it helpful. You can do so much with long vibes. Make a lot of cuttings and plant them back or start a new plant.
OMG this intro is everythingggg
I love 💕 my strings of hearts. I have the regular, variegated, Orange River, spades and the glory. I don’t have great light so I can and do keep mine in windows. I use different soil than you do I put mine in superfly bonsai soil, which means I need to water more but they seem to like it.
I love yours!!!! Goals! 🥰
Oooh Orange river? I've never heard or seen that one. Must check it out. Glad you figured out a way to care for your String of Hearts that works well in your environment. Soil you're using sounds about right for the lighting you get. Thanks for sharing Vicky.
this is a really helpful video! :) i really enjoy this detailed and informative series of yours, quite timely that i'd just gotten a string of hearts and a ficus elastica tineke and definitely benefited from your recent videos. thankyou!
I have my string of hearts in a southeast window, about a foot away. It has grown 8ish inches in the last two months and has a dozen flowers already!
That’s awesome. Glad to read yours is growing and thriving. I would think south east is the best sun exposure you can get for plants. 😁
Your sting of hearts is beautiful 🥰
I wish I knew how to add a pic or vid.
I'm in Western Australia Perth.
I have taken to the propergation(?) method of allowing the mother plant grow into another pot, placed under it. I have had much success with this. I would love for you see my verigated string/s of hearts. I grow all of mine outside, even thought it's freezing here atm! 🥶
The biggest problem I get with my string of hearts (& some of my other succulants) is mealy bug! I HATE these things! I think of them as 'plant nits' (head lice 🤢) they really Grose me out!
So from time to time I get my cotten tip out & my isopropyl alcohol & dab that around. It is a bit of an ongoing issue, especially in winter.
Happy growing ☘
My Ceropegias name is " La GREÑUDA" ( spanish meaning shaggy hair ) . These are my fav!🥰
Very informative! Thank you for this detailed video. 🙂🍃
Yours is truly amazing, i love string of anything ❤️🌱🤭
Love this channel 😍😍😍
This video was SO well done! Love it!
My two little 4" starts are perfect and doing their best to pop roots. They'll be big one day but I'm not gonna rush the little cuties.
At the moment my one's are in a N window but they still growing nicely and I did manage to propagate a good amount of cuttings in that window. So fingers crossed 🤞 it will stay healthy further on
Great info Christian super helpful!, thank you so much.
Glad you found it helpful. ☺️
Thanks for good information
I love this plant. So pretty! I finally got my hands on one and I've been propagating it like crazy. Woo-hoo lol can't wait to have these hanging around the doorways and windows. Thaks for sharing this video with us! It's ways great to see you!

Welcome to plant parenthood 😁🪴
@@CrazyPlantGuy that's why I'm here! from 0 to 20 plants in 2 months😆
Christian ... thank you for this ... so informative and filled with tips for success as well as subtle insertion of humour here and there ... do you even realize the effect you’ve had on string of hearts sales ? I mean this plant is the envy of all in the plant community... I have a baby and he is so wee and sparse ... he and I sat and watched this vid and he wants to grow like your guy and play in the NBA one day ;) cheers - stay safe and green my friend :)
Super helpful!! Thank you!!!
I have a few and i keep Mine are in East and west windows. They seem to like East better than west but are doing great in both.
Thank you for all of your useful information 💚🙃
no problem. I’m glad you found it helpful and useful. ☺️
Awesome tips,
I didn’t know that pinching off the blooms would create more vines. Mine are constantly blooming and I even have 6 pairs of seed pods this year
Outstanding!
This was extremely helpful.
Excellent information you've given. Thank you, ☺️
Awww thank you so much. Glad to hear you found it informative and with some valuable info. ☺️
I don't like string of hearts, but yours, wow yours is gorgeous!!
Makes me want to get one lol.
😅 Thank you...
I love your string of hearts🤩wow
Great video, thanks very much for sharing. I love my string of hearts and am always trying to improve my care for it. Thanks for the tips . Do you know why sometimes the lawer leaves be one smaller? Is it water issue or light?
Now I know how to propagate this new plant I found
Hello Christian, I don't have a string of hearts yet! 😊
Was it miracle grow because I noticed the same thing?
@@jenniferdaniels3076 No, it was not
Miracle-Gro. I was told that the moisture attracts the gnats to the bags and that is how they get into the bags?!
my string of hearts didnt grow at all with sunlight! when i moved it to my dark ass bedroom is was thriving so much and put out a lot of growth
