Hi, This reminds me of North Dakota. When I was in the USAF, I got stationed at Finley AFS, ND. My so call friends said "Great News there is a Girl Behind Every Tree in North Dakota". I just completed technical school and this was my first assignment. After about 6 months, I said "Where is that tree you were talking about"? BTW...after that assignment I got stationed in Thailand for a year...then restationed at Fortuna AFS, North Dakota. I was so happy to get out of the military. Vinny
Nice looking dirt. My Texas dirt is Montmorillonite clay loam. It is a loess that was blown here 400 miles from the Pecos area during the Ice age. You can still see the clay beds today. These are volcanic deposits made over 100's of thousands of years. Texas is blessed with many productive soils on its nearly billion acres of farms.
this is strangely satisfying to watch and also makes me envious to do. at most i am just a gardener, not a farmer but that turned over soil looks gorgeous.
Interesting to see these type of ploughs at work. They are quite different than our conventional plough here in Ireland. They are doing a cracking job. Well set up I guess. Good content on your channel also. 👍
Thanks so much for reviewing our plow next to our competitors. It’s always good to have feedback. It helps us to constantly improve. I think the reason you may be feeling more pull on the FIM (formerly Fehrs) plow is due to the fact that we use a solid 8”x8” 1/2” thick steel tube center beam as opposed to their welded, 5/16” thick bent-metal spine. We believe this is worth the additional weight to make it more solid and durable. We’d love to have more feedback and get your thoughts as a working farmer in our neighborhood. :) Thanks again for your review!
Absolutely I love to help. I do have one thought that I would change on your plow. The adjustable arm on the rear tire to adjust the depth in the back come loose once in a while and starts adjusting itself. But thanks for your comment it’s great to know a little bit more about the machinery we use.
@@conleybanman I’m sorry to hear your having trouble with the rear adjustment arm. I have already passed this information on to our team and we will take a look. Now that you mention it, one other difference between the two plows is the tire itself. We use an 11” width of tire on our plow as opposed to the 6” tires on the competitors’ plows. We have heard that this helps significantly with achieving more float on top of the soil for better depth accuracy as opposed to cutting down into the soil with a narrower tire. Our goal is to provide a quality tool that will last and is made right here in the Great State of Texas. It’s farmers like you that help us to continue to improve. We love our farmers!
Oh yea the larger tire makes a huge difference I have definitely noticed that especially in softer soil. And I’m happy to help make a great plow even better 😁 😅
Yeah I'm from Gaines Co. so where on the south plains are you. Enjoy watching you roll that dirt so smooth, I can smell it. God bless the farmer‼️👆guns up👆🇺🇲🇺🇲
New sub here. That red west Texas dirt looks like around my home town of Sweetwater Texas. Really enjoyed this video. It's the first time I've ever seen a plow that swivels like that. Interesting! I'm sure farmers now days like that GPS!
@@conleybanman Our 1941 Case VAC has a flip over plow. Manually operated. And is a lot smaller. But then in the hilly SE part of Ohio, we don't have 30 acres of flat land either.
I have never seen ploughs like those before, but however I think that those ploughs are a lot better than our reversible ploughs that we have here in Europe, because our reversible ploughs carry a lot more weight because of how they are configured with the standard format for the bottom set and then the other way for the return trip back up the field, now those ploughs that you and your colleague were using are a much better item as they don’t have to be rotated around after each pass, of course you still use the hydraulics to move the plough but it’s on a more simpler pivot which means you don’t have to worry about a top heavy load when you have reached each end of the furrow, anyway I have enjoyed watching this film and I really like 👍 that sort of plough.
I havent seen a plough like this before either. Iv seen reversible ploughs but they are mouldboard ploughs none like these though. They leave a beautiful finish and seem to bury alot of trash. How much sidedraft do they have on the tractors, and what are their cutting widths and how greedy are they on horsepower? Good stuff 👍
Interesting, first time I've seen a plow like that . Haven't seen a plow used here in southern Illinois in years. There's not a better smell then that fresh plowed dirt.
As an organic farmer, is there a dealership in northern Ohio? Been wanting to get a one way plow to level up the fields. It would be nice to see it working at the farm
We didn’t have time then but we’re not planning on planting a cover crop anyway we’re just make beds after plowing when it gets close to planting and that’ll help with the wind from blowing too much dust
Only for land that is being put to peanut ground for the following year. Around here it’s mainly cotton and peanuts and it seems like with the cotton prices being the way they are everyone is plowing in our area gettin ready to plant lots of peanuts
Hi Conley. I know a German guy who has an accent almost identical to yours, and a German girl but her accent is really "harsh". They are living in New Brunswick, Canada where I'm from.
We usually just leave it alone since it’s easier to fill in the trenches on the outside than if we were to plow it. We have to pack and level off the field once we’re done plowing I posted a video around a year ago and it showed kind of how we did it
I love the way a freshly plowed field looks so clean and uniform.

Wow! Been years and years since we've used our switch plow! The dirt is definitely red there! Good video!

Not much plowing in my area it is pretty much frowned upon. One thing I do know is every farm is different. Enjoy watching the show.
Thanks

Never seen a plow like that before a walk around would be nice.
Thanks for your input I’ll try to do that in one of the next videos 👍🏼

Both of those switch plows are doing a good job. No more cotton stalks to worry about for sure.
Oh yea and hopefully not a lot of volunteer cotton either
@@conleybanman thats what we call them here in az, switch plows. Good plows. The old timers I knew used to plow with big atlas plows pulled by cats.
Hello from France. Lindsay pivot is very nice ✅
Hi, I'm watching you from Russia, good content .👍👍👍
How this plow does in corn , grass , whats the operating dept ?
As an organic farmer, is there a dealership in northern Ohio? Been wanting to get a one way plow to level up the fields. It would be nice to see it working at the farm
Man I don’t know. We bought ours at south plains implement
@@conleybanman do you have a ph. no.?
If you google south plains implement there should be a phone no. They have a few stores so there might be one closer to you
Do you go back and plow the headlands or just leave them?
We just leave them
Out there they are just call turn rows and mostly they are just left alone...
Great video. Your soil looks really red, orange in the video. Do you have a lot of Clay in your soil?
Not really it’s very sandy out here
Could you do a video on the difference between a cotton picker and a cotton stripper?
Yes I sure can try
Cuantos acres haces al día
What will you be planting in the field you’re plowing🧐👍🐝
This will be peanut ground
Peanuts are a great sack 👍🏻 thank you for growing them🥜🥜🐝
which one is better for depth , and which is the easier for the tractor.thanks
The FIM would be better for depth the Tatu seemed to pull a little bit better behind the tractor
@@conleybanman thanks
I was wondering if any of y’all could explain me this why the top hook on the quick hitch needs to be bigger than usually
The plow is so heavy it needs bigger pins so you don’t loose a plow. Bigger pins require bigger hooks
Great Video
Awesome 👍
Yeah, simultaneously... at the same time.
I haven't seen a plow like that in a long time ..
Nice what size are the tractors

We like to stay around a foot
How much fuel ⛽ consumption per hour
18 gallons per hour
How would that plow work in the Ga red clay
I wouldn’t know but I would think it would work it would probably leave huge clumps of dirt and I don’t know how y’all farm in GA
thats one big field.
Haha and that’s our average field

Isn’t the fehrs plow a lot heavier then the tatu
I’m not sure I heard from other people that the Tatu is heavier than the Fehrs so 🤷♂️ could be either or
When are you gonna start using the new tractor
We just started using it to level some new caliche that we brought around our shop. Sadly I’m not there to film any of it 😢
