Yikes! I hope you’re able to get those to bounce back. I had one that I thought was dead but I still held onto it and to my surprise I have 2 new pseudobulbs growing this season 😁 happy growing!
I enjoyed this video. I have one catasetum and one cycnoches. Both have new growths. These are my first ever so I am learning. You presented a lot of good information. Thank you. Stay safe.
I love your reports, learn so much. At this moment I'm nursing a hand me down phalenopsis. It did bloom dark dark purple flowers then took a dive. So I do learn alot. Thank you.
I have had this problem when I left my Catasetums in their pots after they go into dormancy (East Coast of Australia). What do now is wait till the roots have dried out then I remove them and sit the plant in a pot out of the weather. Once I seethe roots growing again once reaching about 5 - 10cm I then pot them. And yes I did revive one as bad as you had. Good luck
I agree that the wind probably brought moisture. The winter temps you get should not have caused this. I’d try wintering outside again but ensure they stay dry. Also, I know a grower that literally twists the roots off his Catesetums and replant when the new roots reach 3” minimum.
Hi Dear. Maybe I missed the info about what's is going on with your Catasetum now, in half-year, I'm interesting more about the first 3 cut pseudobulbs, how is it going now. I have the same situation right now...
Hi Danny. From your inspiration will repot my Den parishii. For some reason doesn't do well (death eater😵) with me either. Trying bark for a change in combo with moss. Wish me luck 🤞!!
I bought a Cycd. Taiwan Gold 'Orange' Catasetum orchid and I made the mistake of leaving it in front of the heater. The new bulb's leaves burned and so did the bulb itself halfway down the bulb. I contacted the grower and was advised to remove the orchid from the older bulb, and plant it separately. Then do not water the old bulb so it will have new growth considering it is nearly spring time. However, I'm not sure where to make a cut to separate them. Do I cut the Rhizome?
Hey Dani, happy new year🎉 did you ever do an update on these Catasetum that had infections? I had to cut into one of mine. The infection wasn’t too bad, but like you I’m hoping that you had luck because I might have the same luck.
Hi Danny! Love your videos! I have a simple question about one of my orchids but wanted to show you a picture along with the question. What’s the best way to send you the picture?
I have a repottted rootless dendrobium phal which has a similar mushy dark growth on one of the canes. Today I touched the soft part with my fingers, and it kind of just began splitting..and a white worm like insect crawled out :S should I try cutting it like the catasetums you did in the video?
Hi i have a question about phalaenopsis orchid: Please help How often should i water an orchid with the following conditions? The stem is black because of rot ( i think it stopped because it feels stiff) There are no healthy roots I have done the following: Sprayed isopropyl alcohol 90% Covered the stem with cinnamon The orchid above the stem up until ll Repotted it with better medium it was growing ( new leave from the crown, and leaves on the on the stake) ------------- My concern is that I re-encourage the rot because this happened before spraying with cinnamon and isopropyl alcohol 90%: I was spraying the surrounding area with water to encourage root growth i did that for a week and that led to some kind of rot ( i saw black fly’s and new rot around the first leave right below the crown/ top of the stem)
How about in tropical country like Indonesia? We only have 2 season, rainy and dry. Any advise and tips interms of repotting, watering and fertilising??
Hi Dani! I really like your vanilla orchid videos! And I ordered a vanilla planifolia, can you please give me any tips on how to care for it? Thank you!
I have a question for you: I have an oncidium (? I dont think it actually is) but it was very neglected when I got it and it keeps growing new roots and then they die shortly after. It is in bark with sphagnum on top and is top sprayed and misted daily and watered when mostly dry. Any idea why this might be happening and how to help ? It has not been fertilized
Hi Dani( sorry if I spelled your name wrong) Is it only Catesium Orchid pseudobulb could save? I have one Cymbidium orchid Pseudobulbs that have signs of rotting or dying. Could I do like your procedure. I don’t. Think I can save it. I live in Southern California, USA
Dany, how much osmocote did you put in one pot? I would like to use it as well on the catasetum types I have, but I'm wondering on the quantity. Thanks :)
Hello Danny, this video is most interesting because I just received my first catasetum and want to see what has happened to this experiment of yours, please give me the address of the follow up. Thanks Danny, hope to hear from you and thanks for sharing.
Can anyone tell me how to get my orchid to bloom? I tried cutting the stem down but believe i cut to low... i have had it for 3 years and it has not died. I put it in a bigger pot two weeks ago with new soil and now i see two little green sprouts coming from the dirt... they look like bean sprouts to me.
@@nekebahope8459 ty for the reply! I looked at the original pot and it doesn't say the name. It says white orchid, but I looked up the leaves... i think its a phalaenopsis orchid???
Hi, I only had one more which I gifted to one of my viewers in a past giveaway ;) oh and another from orchid garden which didn't make it in its second year. The pileatum is in this video.
@@MissOrchidGirl Oh i am sorry about your loss. I for some reason thought you had like 20 catasetums 😅😅 Hope these remaining one do survive. 🤗 maria from my orchid adventures has done some catasetum propagations ... They seem to be pretty robust.
@@MissOrchidGirl I agree with you . They are so huge when they leaf out . But I must say that I love cycnodes wine delight. I hope that you can save him .
Hi Dani! Thank you for sharing such a interesting video! 🤞. As I promised on Discord, I put up the pictures of White Bridal Yuki. This one smells wonderful. There are some people think it is not (for a good reason) but check it out yourself and see and tell us what you think!
Bless You for trying to save them :-) If You would kill Your Monierara I would start hating You and stop following! :P Waiting now for update about results. :-)
Always sad to see orchids rotting but it will be really interesting to see if the cut sections grow. It's all a learning process
4:05 It looks like you were making a cucumber salad there for a second.
Thank you for the Catasetum video. I am thinking at some point I will buy the catasetum. Love your tips and tricks. Have a Happy Easter.

Would really like to see the outcome . Good luck. Pete from Canada
I don't know anything about this plant, so I was very interested ! Hope you get good luck for growing !
😔 for the cuts you had to do. But yay for the black one being good!!!

Thanks Julia! Well I learned my lesson 😣
It was a valuable experience and it does matter :)

Good luck! Remember to give it lots of water and nutrients in the growing season and no fertilizer and very little water in winter! :D

Hello Danny! Do Catasetums need humidity during dormancy or during bloom?
Your dove is hilarious 😂 but don't mind her/him. It's going to be one very interesting experiment 👍 keep us posted
So lucky that the 2 black ones r oke

Hi Dani. Love your videos. What do you do about black spots on the sheath? Can you just peel that off? I’m new to this type and just got it yesterday.
Hi, black spots on sheaths are not a problem, since the dried sheaths are already dead plant material. So they can't get infected :)
Hi.. any update with the outcome?
Did you ever repost how the ones that you cut and put peroxide in cinnamon on ended up doing?
Hi Dani! I really like your vanilla orchid videos! And I ordered a vanilla planifolia, can you please give me any tips on how to care for it? Thank you!
Can we have an update of your Catasetums featured here? Thank you!!!
I've always been curious about whether keiki paste works on catasetums. I hope you're catasetums give you results!
Hi Dani - Did I see you add slow release fertilizer?
Hi, yes I put a few beads of osmocote as I was saying in the video :)
Hey Danny! Love the video. Do you have any updates on your vanilla plant?
Hi, not sure which update you watched last, so just RUclips search 'missorchidgirl vanilla' maybe there is an update you didn't see :)

Hi, Cymbidiums don't have too many internodes on their psb so I don't think this technique will work, but you can definitely try! Good luck? ☺️
Fingers crossed! 🙏
Dany, how much osmocote did you put in one pot? I would like to use it as well on the catasetum types I have, but I'm wondering on the quantity. Thanks :)
Hi, I slowed down the video to show the quantity, it's about 8 beads or so I think :)
Did it work I have the same issue?
Why are some bulbs so wrinkly and not smooth?
Hope your worst off orchids are able to make it!!
