    This video is literally the model that ALL instructional videos should follow. No unnecessary transitions or dialog, no ridiculous rock or techno music, no shaky grainy camera work, just an excellent informative video.

    Excellent video. If you have a shut off valve on the main water pipe to the house (as is the case in this video) it's a good idea to close that valve so that a lot of air doesn't get into home pipe system causing a lot of pressure water surges in the water pipes that could create leaks at weak points.

    I have the Gould's Pump and pressure tank and can get the pressure switch to cut in at 30 but I can not adj. to cut out any lower than 58-60 psi. All new system by plumber (But getting a weird clunk not a hammer)

    EXCELLENT VIDEO! So the pressure needs to be set with and EMPTY tank (No water in it)? Then refill correct? Just making sure.

    The valve cap is in no way the "primary" seal on the valve, the Schrader valve inside the valve stem is. The cap is just that - a dust cap to keep dirt out of the actual sealing valve.

      Absolutely true, I laughed when they said that, imagine getting a valve cap to be airtight 🤣

      It's the primary seal since it's the first one you remove to add air

    My booster pump is using hydrovar VFC. That pump is running continuously. I checked about water leakage and NRV, their is no water leakage and NRV is also good. Its pressure tank is also good. Cutt-off pressure is 2.5 bar.

    Great video of a simple procedure. The bottom line is that you're trying to set the "preload" pressure of the empty tank 2-3 psi below the pressure show on the pressure switch cover (as explained in the video). You could do this with the tank new in the box, it has nothing to do with the rest of the system. Tank empty, check the pressure, adjust, refill... alk away.

      On older systems you should also check what cut in pressure of the switch is as they do change I find usually lower than it should be . If it has dropped 2 lbs then your tank pressure is set lower. With the system cycled off. shut the power and drain the water as you approach the cut in pressure drain very Slowly until you hear the click of the pressure switch or watch for it to close. check the tank pressure. Then

    The valve cap is not the primary seal. It the stem valve inside. It is the same valve that inner tubes and wheels use.

      It is the primary seal since it's the first one you remove getting air in

    hello planning to buy a 100L pressure tank. what is the recommended psi some say 20psi for cut on and 40 psi for cut off.
    is that safe?

    • @BillyMansfield87
      @BillyMansfield87 5 лет назад

      wyn depends on your pump.
      Usually 30/50 is safe, 28 psi in tank.

    • @roberthughes2687
      @roberthughes2687 3 месяца назад

      As stated most are 40-60 which means 38 size of tank is irrelevant

    I have a horizontal tank, do I need to completely drain if I see 0psi after running a tap for a while? Not easy to do without disconnecting a bunch of connections.

    • @roberthughes2687
      @roberthughes2687 3 месяца назад

      If you have zero the tap won't run anymore so you'll know

    When we get out all the water from the tank, the pressure go down but the pressure on the jet pump to!?

  • @raymondwood4477

    No one tells you if you are supposed to check and adjust pressure with the valve still open or closed! This guy never says to close it after draining the water off, so I'm unsure if it matters

    How do you know that your air pressure gauge and the water pressure gauge are both in agreement? These generally are not the highest quality, accurate devices and I would guess it is easy to get to the air pressure in the empty tank not 2-3 PSI lower as it should be.

    Ok but the last statement is misleading. The valve cap is just a protective cap. Seal is on valve stem.

    how does ambient temperature affect the pressure in the tank? Seems like if its a hot day, it will read high, especially if you empty the tank, allow the temperature to reach ambient, then fill the tank with cold well water. Nobody ever seems to address this. Why is it not an issue?

      Because the water in the tank maintains the bladder air temperature

    Once the tank is drained, do you close the valve or faucet you opened before checking and adding air? Thanks.

    • @robertelder5444

      As long as power is off, it shouldnt matter. The water side of tank is empty. The only pressure you have is in the air side. I check mine with the water valve open. Once i check pressure i repeat the steps backwards then.

      You might have waterlogged/leaking bladder which the air is being pressurized by the water leaking through bladder. Just my thoughts
