The soundtrack to wipeout is what made the game for me. Never forget being 15 years old and hearing the chemical bro and block rockin beats!!
Things that make me happy with this gen and give me nostalgia of the PS1 and PS2 days: Wipeout, Crash Bandicoot, Rez, Ratchet and Clank and Metal Gear Solid.
Now we just need Spyro and Armoured Core.
Sticky Keys and we need Jak and daxter.
I'm actually REALLY excited for Patapon for PS4
EonHSD Next up is the first Ape Escape game to be remade with modern graphics on PS4. I think it's happening. Yoshida had a dinner with the original team last year.
The first Ape Escape game for PS1 was very successful worldwide. Ape Escape 2 and 3 for PS2 lost touch with the audience outside of Japan/Asia.
Remaking old IPs for PS1 with modern graphics doesn't take up a big team to do. Yoshida said SIE WWS are focusing on new IPs for PS4 but if they have the opportunity to bring back old IPs in some form they will do it.
But for Wild Arms and Arc the Lad I don't think so. They probably tried and realized they need a big team for remaking JRPGs with modern graphics. Not as easy as to revive Parappa the Rapper, Locoroco, Patapon and Ape Escape.

History : Liverpool game designers + UK 90s Dance scene as a backing soundtrack + Designers Republic (Gatecrasher Album cover Artists) = Wipeout in the 90s.
A game which poured and defined the 90s culture at the time

This brings back so many Memories! I used to play this with my bro........right now both of us have grown up a bit and he's in college but I swear once this is out we'll play it for days and months just like the good old days!
To me the original WipeOut was the most defining game of the original early PlayStation games. It made gaming cool suddenly. The rollercoaster tracks, the futuristic and gritty appearance. The cutting edge artstyle by The Designers Republic coupled with pumping electronic music made it click with the clubgoers of the 90s.
whats crazy even the ps3 wipeout HD/fury still holds up really good even today among current gen consoles. 1080p native @ 60fps with FXAA on the ps3 was way ahead of its time and this time around at 4K native 60 fps this is a real treat

as of now, and as of sony's promise, they won't allow devs to make Pro specific games, they can only use the Pro to make a game look better, higher resolution and perhaps faster frame rate, but no specific Pro games.

I doubt the PS4 Pro version is going to be much better when compared to the PS4 one. The original Wipeout HD/Fury already ran at solid 60 fps.

This video is looking rather nice compared to my memory of HD/Fury. Wasn't too fussed on another remaster but I may have been tempted by this.
There is a Wipeout HD/Fury already on the PS4? Granted, I've got my PS4 not so long ago and have been with my PS3 all this time. I have HD/Fury on the PS3. How much better can it actually get?
I think OP means when this Omega is released the differences between it running on a standard PS4 and the Pro.
As for how much better can it get...I would love to see the tracks from the older games included some way and brought up to date.

Yeah, I'm really doubting what the Pro can bring more to the table than the PS4. Only "4k" I guess. Don't think they will do something different for those with HDTV's. If my recollection is right, isn't HD/Fury also 60fps on the PS3?
I wonder how 2048 will look. If my research was done right, this apparantly is a Vita game. So I hope they have upgraded it up to par with the other 2, or it's going to be obvious.
Wonder about a VR-mode (might be vomit inducing though) :).
Arexion5293 It was 60fps but not without issues - tearing and framedrops were common. And resolution was only dynamic 1080p.
Wipeout has been amazing ever since it first came out on the PS1. I still play Fury/HD, but am really excited to see this PS4 run for this game!

Nah once you get used to motion in VR, the severity of the motion doesn't affect anything.
This needs to be made in VR, this was one of the games I got with my day one PlayStation all those years ago, and I love these games so much.
With the cockpit VR games I've played so far, Wipeout would be amazing and the best. I have a feeling it's already a thing, but they just aren't announcing it yet. Fingers crossed.

Hardcore fans of the series generally have mixed feelings about Fusion. Not the most polished game in the series, but still fun!
It was an ok game, but lost much of the original games´ appeal by introducing gameplay changes, a new handling system, too scifi design and drum n bass music only, for me the pinnacle point of the franchise was Wip3out special edition, and the psp and positive games are also awesome!
So this video is my first source of a ps4 wipeout game, I'm soooo happy now. Been googling "wipeout ps4" since I got the ps4. Wipeout 2097 is my favourite racing game of all time. This is good news!

as he said he was getting better and not smashing into walls. the trick is to stay in the center of the track at all times. it will give you both the boosts and the weapons and put you in first place before the first lap is over

had Wipout on the PS3 in 3D, one of the hardest games ive ever played haha!
Just imagine if Liverpool/Psygnosis wasn't closed...We would have brand new fun and awesome Wipeout game with probably one of the best visuals on console. Same case for Motorstorm and Evolution Studios.
I loved the video by the way and you explained really well the feeling of getting to know the tracks and the handling, it is extremely rewarding when you manage to do well. This is my all-time favorite saga so I am very excited about this release.

Check out 'Formula Fusion'; made by a few of the guys who worked on the Wipeout series at Studio Liverpool.
Look for Redout on Steam. It's a very tight and feature-rich Wipeout clone.
why don't you buy this so Sony knows people want more WipEout.
This remaster is to test the waters to see if people still are interested in this. If it gets a healthy amount of sales it will give reasons for a completely new entry.
There are two types of people. Those who know Wipeout and those who are ignorant beasts. You know who you are.
WipEout is the perfect example of a well managed instant hit video game series that progressively got better with every release and generation by constantly staying true to its core formula. There is basically nothing wrong to be found about this series. I'm not even a huge electronic music fan, but it just fits this game like a glove and it never should have anything else. I wish Psygnosis had done the same with the Destruction Derby series, which much like the original WipEout was beautiful, uncomplicated fun with a few rough edges that got smoothed out in the bigger, better and faster gameplay of the sequel. Unfortunately, developer Reflections had different plans and created Driver, another legendary series.
I loved zone mode too! I remember playing it so much my eyes ended up looking like Trico's, all hypnotised 😂
i'm so happy that wipeout's back. 2097 was one of my first ps titles ever! loving it ever since! the rush u feel when you master a course in phantom class! so good! ;)
I'm incredibly excited for this, always been a huge wipEout fan and this'll be a great celebration of the newer installments. Also, Rob, your piloting isn't that bad, sure you're only on flash(?) but not too shabby ;P

Yes. I loved Extreme G in all its incarnations, even if it was like the Janky little step brother to Wipeout. Nothing beats those moments where you break the sound barrier and manage to sustain it for a period.
I'd love that! Extreme G was way more exhilarating than Wipeout and surprised there isn't a new version yet. It'd be incredible!!!
I platinum the Wipeout 2048 on my Vita not to long ago! I am now working on the HD and Fury add on trophies for my vita now! I can't wait to get this for my PS4 PRO. This game looks great running on PS4
I really want a remake of the original Wipeout from the ps1, but I'm so looking forward to this, a PlayStation isn't a PlayStation without a Wipeout game.
Lacking a VR mode (ala Thumper) seems like a wasted opportunity. Wipeout would be amazing as is, just with the feeling that you are in the world!
Sean Lumly It would be, but can you imagine Zone Mode in VR ? I don't think any one can handle this speed..
Makozak You should try Thumper on PSVR. It is extremely fast. But so long as the camera is not moving relative to the track, the VR experience is surprisingly comfortable. I believe something similar could work in Wipeout as well..

I'm so glad that Wipeout is coming back but the thing is that I already have HD, Fury and 2048 and they look and run great already on their original format. Now, if we were to get a remastered version of Pure and Pulse for the vita with trophies... I'd be there day 1.
I still want a new Wipeout though :( RIP Studio Liverpool.... also bring back Rollcage while you're at it Sony ;)

Trophies on this are hard as nails, dunno whether playing on a better, bigger TV and console's gonna make a difference.
Kinda hope the trophies are gonna get combined with 2048, would be a fantastic challenge.

The test of hardware technology has always been the standard for wipeout! 4K in its greatness beauty, with minor tweaks in "old" games. I hope this is just a warm up for a upcoming fresh wipeout. For convinience (i own all wipeout titles) and for historic perspective it could include (at least) the original trilogy. I'm waiting for more!
I remember riding the bus to work with my Vita playing Wipeout 2048 and some random dude saw me playing it and told me he was going to buy one for his kid because it looked so awesome. Too bad the Vita failed. I think I'll dig my Vita out just to play it!

do you know if they're using the 2048 or Wipeout HD AI in Omega? 2048 didn't have horrible rubberbanding.

The Trophies were insanely difficult for these games on all PlayStation platforms so hopefully they made them a bit easier and with Platinum's...!

this is my most anticipated game so far... I don't have a ps3 anymore so I can't play my old copy of wipeout hd, and I've been pining for something but nothing is quite the same as wipeout!
I love me some wipeout. I can't wait to get this for my PS4. Sad part is I own all of these games already. PSVita & PS3 I still have my PS3 on a 4K TV lol the vita I do not have sadly.
