I really hope when Sony finally releases the PlayStation game store on PC that they include this game for all of us same flight owners and Sim racers. It will be really cool to see $10,000 Sim racing rigs versus $10,000 flight rigs in this game, and how they implement their control schemes.
You can use weapons to heal yourself by pressing Circle and do barrel rolls for speed boosts at the cost of some HP (left+right+left or right+left+right when airborne)
It's not just the boost, it's the game as a whole. Back in 2003 F.-Zero GX made this franchise obsolete IMO, WipeOut just doesn't feel that fast anymore. Also, I will never understand why designers keep on bringing back those narrow, narrow tracks. What's the purpose of having speed as your game's main selling point if players can't seem to go ten seconds without bumping on the walls?
Redout 2 is fun but holy hell do you need to remember some LONG ASS tracks. Wipeout on Phantom is seriously quick, I prefer Rapier for casual play if I'm honest. Wipeout hasn't really changed their gameplay formula since the late 90s so your comparing a classic gameplay formula versus a game that came out last year. Redout seriously challenges your typical racer, the learning curve is nuts thanks to all of the components they have in the gameplay. Both games are great but are a each a product of their times. But back to your point, yeah, wipeout isn't as fast as today's Indy AG racers.
once the player really gets into wipeout, the "autopilot" pickup becomes an automatic absorb. it will only interrupt your flow and make relatively poor decisions.

Has insane potential, just needs an injection of more fresh blood and it's a money factory! Grey/darken the backgrounds so there's less risk of visual overload, and optional co-driver/navigator, maybe a minimap FFS. I love what I'm seeing here.
Mag-strips were banned during WipeOut 2049 like you see in this video (there are certain sections that have them and you can see banners on the track saying that mag-strips are not safe and should be banned in AG racing) but you have them on WipeOut HD and Fury, they make your craft magnetised on the track and there are more loops + there is reverse mode like you asked and it takes place in the further future wich is darker and easyer to see. All versions are in the Omega Collection. It's pretty cool how they inserted some lore into it as they decided to bring magnetic tracks back in the future games.
