Nah, E1M1 (Or At Doom's Gate, whatever you want to call it)is definitely the most iconic piece of computer game music
I downloaded this game on Wii Virtual Console ten years ago. First time I played it, my room mates watched me play it just for this song alone. Second time I booted this game up, the loading screen music came up; my neighbor across the dorm came into mine because he heard me "playing that one game with the awesome music". I enjoyed the game, but everyone I know knows The Last Ninja 2 as "the game with the awesome music".

Truly. Haven't returned to these games since I was a kid. But the music was indelibly carved. When I saw the youtube recommendation (for LukHash's remix), I knew I'd found something I was looking for.

I love reformation 3. I listen to it daily. You just can beat the last ninja 2. Some of the youngsters have heard this and tried the original game. So, retro music and gaming is not dead

I remember my dad showing me this game as he played it growing up, downloaded the copy of it on the Wii and I am so glad I did. why don't they make em like this anymore

Sounds like modernized techno-version of already awesome tune. Cleaner, more layered and instrumentally distinct as instead of just noises there are real electronic instruments now present. As unavoidable result raw charm and expression of original is lost. It still has the essence of original.
Matt Gray also composed the original song, so I'd say trying out some variation his is prerogative as the creator of the older version.

They should grab some of you fine remake musicians and rebirth the games with updated music and graphics, keep the classic format of the games though.

Possibly at some point. Problem is you need a huge audience to replicate album download/cd sales with streaming.

Sick remix of a childhood favorite of mine. We do these VR gaming live streams at gaming conventions several times a year, and I use a lot of synth music to set the neon vibe of the whole scene for the live audience, players, and viewers. I would love to include this song if you'd let me.

The part around 4.42 sounds a bit like the theme from the 80s series "The Tripods".
