Let Rob explain what happens when there is a Bosch motor and/or pinion transmission failure for this bike. How warranty works, how long warranty will be effective and what the related downtime is. This isn't like you taking your BMW motorcycle to the BMW dealer.
If it lasts as long as the other gearboxes from Pinion there should be no problems with longevity. It has an oil filling that is way better versus conventional motors that let water in through the gaskets.
I’ll tell you what happens when there’s a Bosch motor failure. We take your bike, verify that it’s warranty. We drop the motor and work out what the issue is, and if it can’t be fixed, then we go into the system and apply to Bosch to have it replaced, stating what it issue is. They then send us a new motor, and we send the old one back. In less than a week it’s replaced with a new replacement, and ready for the customer. I have no experience with Pinion though.
Yep I've heard lots of stories of excellent after sales service from Bosch. Had a little experience myself where I had to call them and found them to be great. Getting through to them was easy and the advice was sound. Don't think you can call anyone in relation to other brand motor on my other bike and I know they don't releas parts either. For this reason and the fact I can't afford pinion or that new DJI system my next bike will be a Bosch powered.
If the pro auto shift override is used too much the bike should alter the fixed cadence to a more suitable range for the rider , e.g. if you set cadence at 80 but are constantly down shifting it should set to 79 , then 78 and creep it until the rider mostly stops down shifting manually , an early up shift should alter it the other way , all averaged out over several mins of use . Gradient should also alter the cadence slightly IF you choose to have that happen . or the app should recommend your best cadence based on your actual demand .
It does do that. If you override the auto.shift in the pro mode, it analyses the new cadence and adjusts to it. So no more fighting with automatic shifting like with other systems.

Yeah, I spotted that on his mobile. It looked like he was replying to emails /social media regarding swing arms 😂😂😂 seriously tho will be interesting to see how pole return and what they will launch with. Have a lot to work to cover with regard to consumer confidence in the brand.
Its definitely a bike made for journalists. Flash looking and lots of features to talk about. Not what I or anyone really needs. Maintenance is about cost, and the MGU cost exceeds regular maintenance.
So every time a new motor comes out you will have to buy a hole new bike again, correct? or can you just buy the new motor to put into your 1 year old bike?
Well that's easy then, the pinion mgu has main battery's up to 950Wh, with an option for an extension battery of 530Wh. The strongest motor is 800 Watt and has 160nm torque in the lowest gears.
@@RobRidesEMTBIt’s an amazing bike Rob and the top of my list but warranty really worries me. If it has a major issue is there a UK base it can be sent to or would it have to be shipped back to Germany?

Haha, delivering to the UK costs more than the bike itself! £10,000 delivery charge? They must be having a right laugh-probably trying to fund their next holiday! 😂
What is all this recent hype for overrun? Do we really need it? I think not. My latest bike has almost none (RM powerplay) and it is a way better climber for it. Less overrun = more control. The amount of times overrun would be beneficial is very limited for the average user. But overrun is the nr. 1 reason for destroying chains and cassettes. I rode mountain bike 25years ago... back then light bikes were the most important thing - nothing changes there ;) The Chain drive was and is working pretty well.
Cool bike. That price though😬
Price is important but the total weight is more so. Can you go uphill after the battery runs out?
of course you can, if your legs are strong enough!
The manufacturer (Pinion) says you can change gears 1000 times before the battery runs out
My LBS very cynical on these as they say little service support so if something goes wrong you could be left stranded. What do you think?
I raelly really want this bike. perhaps they will sell the motor and frame separately which will make it easier for me to get.
I saw Leo in the background 🤞
Yeah, I spotted that on his mobile. It looked like he was replying to emails /social media regarding swing arms
😂😂😂 seriously tho will be interesting to see how pole return and what they will launch with. Have a lot to work to cover with regard to consumer confidence in the brand.
How large a battery will this frame hold.. and removable??
Please tell me you do it in raw aluminium 😊
Sure, Nicolai is offering it in "factory raw" 🤝
So is this an upcoming model or is this available now and is it a software update?
Hoping this bike comes to Canada someday, I really think it could be the last bike I ever buy.
Retail price in the States?
Its definitely a bike made for journalists. Flash looking and lots of features to talk about. Not what I or anyone really needs. Maintenance is about cost, and the MGU cost exceeds regular maintenance.
How much does the bike weigh ?
So every time a new motor comes out you will have to buy a hole new bike again, correct? or can you just buy the new motor to put into your 1 year old bike?
R thoughs sold in the us ?
Kann mann den Saturn MGU auch als S Pedelec bestellen?
I love it, can we please get it with an 800 W hour battery, 1000 W peak motor with 120 N meters of torque.? Pretty please?
Well that's easy then, the pinion mgu has main battery's up to 950Wh, with an option for an extension battery of 530Wh.
The strongest motor is 800 Watt and has 160nm torque in the lowest gears.
Can I get one shipped to the USA?
Future is NOW 🙌 take my money🤪
32788 Dicki Place
what's with that high noize level?
Muito tope ésa baike meu sonho é ter uma dessa
You said you ordered one Rob. So where can i buy one in the uk?
They’ve just approved for UK sales. You can email Nicolai direct and they will be able to arrange this.
@@RobRidesEMTBIt’s an amazing bike Rob and the top of my list but warranty really worries me. If it has a major issue is there a UK base it can be sent to or would it have to be shipped back to Germany?
I believe that was one of the things they were sorting out, leading to the delay getting the UK approved. My understanding is they have now sorted warranty support in the UK.
When are they going to have pinion emtbs in the US?@@RobRidesEMTB
Rob, I've got a Voima, and my kenevo sl doesn't get ridden much now. I'm in Utah, US. We need this brand here. Where do I buy? 190mm please:).
Dear Santa
It's all good but if you can't get one how is anyone in Australia ever going to get one. The Pinion MGU is a great design but the coffee grinder uphill sound would kill the joy of riding for me. It's a shame someone doesn't get the Revonte system into production .My SUPER QUIET and smooth 1.3 Aluminium 90Nm Brose motor and a Rohloff hub is still my choice. E=Mtb²
2018 bug: motor surges
2020 feature: motor doesn't surge
2025 feature: motor surges
It was a bug, now a feature.
Why cnc when you can cast....
0:19 Rob Heran's head :D
No wonder it's expensive. 2 hours of CNC machining, welding TIG by hands . No doubt it's high quality, but you now, some Eastern guys could stolen the idea. Make stamping, casting, automatic welding lines and as a result cheaper in a great volumes
Yes, however still a knock-off. The difference between a Rolex and a Bolex.
How much $$$ ? Can I get a KTM 350 for the same price ?
if Pinion changes their measurements, ya can’t replace the gears / motors.
😍
Bro is riding 10 × my net worth💀😭
Now if Big S and Bosch can sign onto this concept with Pinion your talking big business...
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
11k bike made of aluminum with only 5 year warranty. At least Van Nicholas offers lifetime frame warranty on its titanium bikes
👍🏾🤝❤❤❤❤
Does i really weigh 27 kg? 59.52 lbs?
weight?!
Apprix 26 KG - I have purchased mine to build up in a dream build vid and will be sure to add the bike to the scales.
So if you are going to make overrun a standard feature at least have the user be able to select the amount, or allow it to be turned off.
DJI bike has ruined interest in any other bike for me. Damn you Rob!
Been riding Nicolai bikes for 2 decades but this bike is priced a bit to high for my pocket
What are the drive train losses when running without electricity? Has any RUclipsr bothered to test any eMTB motor for pedaling losses?
Eu moro no Brasil na Bahia em Ilhéus terra do surf motonbike
Pole bikes woud perfectly fit to nicolais brand. just saying
