Obviously if we can hear the voice through the room mic, we are are not listening to the pickups alone. I suggest recording just the signal from the pickup being tested. We can play it through our own gear.

    Hi Marcus,
thanks for the question - installing the MagMic each time you play is possible and not too difficult but depends how you set up the pick-up.
Use the N battery (not the 9V) by soldering the included clips underneath the pick-up - this avoids having to velcro the larger 9V inside the guitar each time which requires removing/loosening strings.
You'll have the output cable hanging out the sound hole when you play... so provided the aesthetics are ok it should be fine!

love it - super robust + great sound
somewhat expensive but worth it in my opinion
...just make sure you have phantom power...
i haven't done a direct hands on comparison with the competition - but there are plenty of reviews on line

...and have a look at the pdf manual on SD's website for full details on installation.
for all the guitars i've used it on you can slip the pick-up past the strings without loosening them - twist the pick-up sideways and it's easier
there is always a risk doing this that you'll drop the pick-up in the guitar - so take good care on a valuable instrument - but like I say below it's certainly possible to install & remove the pick-up quickly

Thanks or posting these comparisons Otway... I'm thinking about getting the SD Mag Mic for my guitar. Can you please tell me whether it is feasible to instal and uninstal it each time you play live as I don't play live much these days and am thinking of getting this as a good compromise for amplification which is easily removed and doesn't affect the guitar. Also, how does the battery stay in place?
    Thanks again
    Regards, Marcus 7447
