Excellent review! I think it's a testament to how strong you are as a runner that you so often say you didn't notice the difference in weight. Some of us always notice a difference in weight. That could be why I've never taken home a pair of Brooks shoes, even though they've been around longer than I've been running. I'm also not a 10mm offset kinda guy. But I noticed the PR performances by C.J. Albertson, Zach Panning, and Susanna Sullivan in the Chicago Marathon this year. It seems that at some point they took the Jaws of Life to Warren Buffett's checkbook and got enough money for Brooks to finally develop competitive modern midsole foams, and that's also showing in the trainers.
🤣at the jaws of life and WB's checkbook! Yes, spot on! When it comes to weight, I do notice it in some shoes more than others, but noticing it Is more commutative effect of the foam and rocker as well as the weight. If a shoe is "balanced" well, the weight isn't as noticable (at least on my short daily runs).
It has been a long time since I last ran in Glycerin other than demo shoes. I ran in Glycerin 20 demo and I was not a fan. It looks like this version is basically Brooks attempt to out-do ASICS Nimbus. They are definitely not my cup-of-tea. I like their DNA-Tuned concept but still waiting to see it in a light-weight package. Current Brooks shoes in my rotation are their Hyperion series (Hyperion Tempo and Hyperion Max) and I have a pair of brand-new Brooks Aurora which will get in the rotation soon. Of the regular Brooks lineup new Levitate 7 (coming up) might be the one to check out as a daily trainer. Hyperion 2 (Speed) and Hyperion Max 2 (long run) and soon Hyperion Elite PB (DNA Gold PEBA foam) will make a good rotation for Brooks fans. Well, if someone needs a recovery shoe as well, then throw in Glycerin 22/Glycerin Max/Ghost Max to the rotation. Personally, I don't need a recovery day shoe, specially one that costs >$180.
@@TolunayOrkun Good to hear you’ve still got the original Hyperion Max in your rotation; it’s an excellent shoe. I can see how the G22 wouldn’t suit you when you have the H-Max and Aurora that could serve the same purpose at a fraction of the weight.
@ I don’t think anyone has any problem with any particular drop. It’s just personal preference. Some runners will be more sensitive to different drops.
I’m at least going to try it on. I may in a month or so be looking to retire my Ghost 16. In my head I’m stuck between pushing my 16s to when the 17 comes out or getting something else and waiting until the 17 is out. The feel of the 22 may get me to switch.
When Levitate 7 is released, consider that one as a daily trainer if you want to stay in Brooks family. According to previews Brooks is doing a big update to Levitate.
They're very similar, but the Glycerin 22 has a lower stack height and a higher drop. If you're interested you can find my review of the G-Max here: ruclips.net/video/LWmXN1qjmR0/видео.html
As much as I love the glycerine max, I can’t say I am a fan of the big thick tongue, I find it hard to lace without hurting the top of my foot where I tie the laces, how does this tongue compare?
The tongue is definitely big and thick, and I am also not a fan of that style of tongue, but I can't say I felt any discomfort from the laces. The tongue does its job and protects the top of my foot.
@ thanks for the transparency, not sure I will buy it but may think of trading the max for it as I’m not sure I need such a max stack shoe being a lighter runner, maybe I am overthinking it
Glycerin 21 is my fav walking shoe but for running really enjoying the Glideride Max.
Nice! The GRM is a fun shoe to run in! The Glycerin 22 is a lot more fun to run in than the Glycerin 21.

Another great review!
Definitely getting those once they come out!
@@complexquattro Cheers, mate! 🙌🏽
Really looking forward to trying these shoes, I need a 10mm drop 😊
All the best for Christmas and New Years, Matt, Harmony & family xx
Thanks, Mel! Happy xmas to you and the fam! 🎄
Have been loving the Glycerin Max for sure. 100% agree that midsole is a lot of fun.
@@joshjelden I think Brooks really upped their game with DNA Tuned. They actually made a fun daily trainer!

Still can't get passed the 10 mm heel drop. My sister is the Glycerin fan and will most likely upgrade to the 22 when it releases.
@@MyFatAdaptedLife That 10mm drop isn’t for everyone, but it’s sure for a lot of people! 🤣

What’s everyone’s problem with a 10mm drop? I have a varied drops in my rotation and doesn’t bother me

Is it a nice addition to my Asics Cumulus 25? Never tried 10mm drop though...
@@G91YS They’ll be quite similar to the Cumulus 25, although they will define last longer.
I have the 20 and like it but this one looks nice. I love high drop shoes. Started thinking maybe I need to run in women's heels 😂
If you ran in heels you'd also have a lot of ground feel; they never seem to have much cushion! 😀
How's this compare to brooks glycerin max?

@its_Matt_B_ so it's not worth paying the extra bucks for a higher stack height. Got the point
More or less toe box room than the 21? I’m one of those weird brick foot people who gets a 2E. I’m debating between this and the Altra FWD VIA
@@brewlovinrunner The toe box feels and looks exactly the same size as v21.
