Kofie isn’t kidding when he calls the game a universe building sandbox. You could even edit the players themselves into ANYTHING, provided they stay on the same team. You could take Tim Tebow (or Florida QB#15) and make him 7’ tall, 400lbs, decrease all his stats to 0 but increase his kicking and punting stats to 99, and make him the best kicker in the game. I know they did this in part to keep any licensing rights away from the players (which sucks), but I used to love this part of the game. I used to make entire fake rosters of players, trying to come up with some of the coolest names I could think of. It started what became an interest in etymology for names. When I got older, I found an old notebook full of some of these names, some of which were hilariously bad (Beckett Jollibrer, Leo Bronzeman, Nelson Bluu, they go on.) It inspired me, though. I got my brother’s old ps3 and a $7 copy of NCAA football ‘13 from GameStop. Now, for those still reading this long ass RUclips comment, I want to you know that, yes, I didn’t (and still don’t, evident by this post) have a life. But I tried to see if I could come up with original enough names for the whole game. That’s 123 teams, roughly 70 players per team. That’s an estimated 8610 total. I fucking did it, though. It took me seven months, but I fucking did it. And I don’t give a shit you don’t believe me. The amount of sheer creativity this game afforded me, even if it was on accident and it was just NCAA suits being greedy dickbags, was fucking exhilarating. Even if this game comes back without this feature (which is most likely will NIL likenesses deals), I’ll still buy it for the exact reasons Kofie said. Thank you to those who read this far.

NCAA14 had it for the time it was in, but now it's too limiting. We NEED to be able to have conferences over 16 members. Conferences of 22 or even more should be possible.
One great aspect of NCAA road to glory was that limited time frame. Every career only had 60ish games in to build a legacy before it was over and we had to start anew. Sometimes 2k careers go 15+ seasons so the individual games matter less.

I don't even remember playing the game itself, but the immersion of that moment really made me feel like I had made a dumb mistake and was worried about how it would affect both my team and my player's legacy. watching this video kind of opened my eyes to the idea that the NCAA football games are appealing to people in the same sense that Football Manager is to soccer fans. they're both universe builders where every save/dynasty is a unique universe where you can do basically anything you want, play any way you want bc it's a single player game you set the endgoals. you get to build your own stories and narratives and even if they're all basically just in your head, they're still endlessly entertaining. obviously FM is so much deeper and harder to get into and get through then just a season of NCAA football but they do scratch that same itch at least for me

One of the reasons i think other EA games have fallen off is cause of their yearly release cycle. Every year they release basically the same game with some minor updates and better graphics because that's really all they give themselves time to do. With the upcoming NCAA game, they don't have the option of reskinning the previous game, and they've given themselves several years to build a whole new game Also in some of the recent announcements, they've said they're really trying to spotlight the culture and traditions of each school, which gives me hope that the people being this have a lot passion for the sport and this won't just be a cash grab
I have no faith in EA to actually make this even half as good as NCAA 14. They haven't made a good Madden in over a decade so I just don't see how they'll change now
It depends on how corporate reacts. They hired some people that worked on the old NCAA’s and they hired people that worked on revamp so it’s good potential.
They just slashed 900 jobs two days ago. I'm with you: Kofie's riding a copium high in this video. My expectations are very low. There's going to be a shoehorned ultimate team. Dynasty mode is going to be barebones. Recruiting is gonna be a buggy mess. It would be a major upset if this new title is even close to as good as NCAA 14 was.
What drew me into the college games was the history, creativity, traditions and the 4 years to play with players and try to integrate them into current systems, or find ways to make them work. Create a school is a gold mine for schools. I can make the college I went to into the game and try to basically shove a D2 school into the sunbelt, A10, or MAC and go from there. OR make a fake school and try to do the same thing. The playbooks are all unique per program and really made you think on your toes about how to scheme and gameplan around the option offense one week, and then go to Pro style, and then have to adjust to a school with a tough as nails defense and a paper soft offense. Great discussion video as always Kofie.
The NCAA games have always been good to great. There were a few stinkers here and there, but the dev team for CFB 25 is filled with a lot of the old NCAA, 2k, and Revamped devs. Just getting this first game out will be a huge accomplishment and I bet at some point in the near future they produce a game that is largely regarded as an instant classic.
I got 0 expectations about it, but i'm willing to be surprised optimistic about it. I really, really wish this game turn out to be all time great. I've been playing NCAA 14 and man i having so much fun with that game
Something that they definitely won't have, but would love to see in future games, is the ability to start as a position coach in Dynasty Mode. In NCAA 14 you could start as a coordinator and only play that side of the ball. In a new game it would be cool to have the option to only play 1 position (Like Road to Glory) and only recruit one position, then you could work your way up the ranks until you are the HC of a powerhouse school
I’m more of a dynasty/franchise mode player when it comes to Madden and College Football so I look forward to uploading NCAA draft rosters into Madden like past years
I like that you have NCAA 05 up because I think the postseason budgeting system should make a comeback. Divying up budget between recruiting, development, and infractions in the old games was such a fun process. I hope they do the same so we can decide how much to develop and recruit in-house guys that have been with the program for years so we don’t lose them to the portal would be such a fun wrinkle to throw into the old model. Honestly that’s all I want is just to have the old dynasty modes on their face with a few features thrown in that modernizes the game and matches it to the landscape as it currently sits.
The solid Folgers cap and fit mixed in with the clever message in the background at the start, you’ve gained another sub pal. Should’ve done it a while back since your Secret Base stuff is always fun.
I want position coaches. I want to work my way up as a linebackers coach at a small school then eventually become a defensive coordinator, I also want to see promotions at schools. Like if my defensive coordinator gets fired I want to be the interim coordinator and then earn the job...I doubt it will happen though.
This comment section shows ppl will always find an issue with anything. We have a new college football game. With the confirmed features that you know the development team members they got from the revamped mod (along with the new developers they’ve added) will make sure that at least Dynasty Mode & RTG will be insane. Sure the online play will be a major feature, but they’ve always made those 2 features the main attractions.
I turn 22 on the 8th and i feel so lucky to be alive during this era of gaming. I didn't get to play ncaa 13 or 14 but watching on youtube made me fall in love with college football.I played madden with my dad but when i was by myself ncaa got me thru. Its sad these kids never got to experience the great games we played
I also live having the NCAA game and corresponding Madden game at the same time. You could transfer your dynasty players up to your Madden game and have that little bit more of a sandbox experience in Madden.
Heya Kofie. Thanks for the video, I also remember playing a ton of NCAA back when I was in high school, I think more 2005 than anything else? I know you did a video about it before, but wondering if you have any interest in doing some 2K All-Pro at some point. That was my favorite football game ever and I would love to see what kind of team you make. And it's not Madden, so that's a win. Thanks for all your time and effort Kofie, you deserve all the love you've gotten!
1 of my fav things to do was export / import draft classes into madden and i still remember 1 years that i drafted a LB in the 3rd or 4th round and he ended up being a hidden gem for me , that's what was great about that feature it gave you more depth in the draft just like in real life and not have to have a 1st or 2nd round pick to get a solid player also you didn't have to wait on other people to make a draft class because i know it takes alot of time to do so and i am greatful for the ones that did do it but it's just nice to have it on your consule ready to load
One of my favorite moments of my childhood was beating Alabama in a bowl game in my FAU franchise. All of their receivers were 95+ speed and they ran deep routes all game 😭 it took me days because i kept restarting but it was one of my biggest accomplishments as a kid
I think you are holding EA to a standard they haven’t been able to deliver on for almost any game they’ve made in the past 15-20 years. Especially sports games.
I just want mascot mode above all else, in terms of having one wacky thing, because I don't trust current EA to acknowledge the variety was what mattered most in the college games and why they had an extended shelf life.
I saw people super excited in the comments section of the official trailer they posted, and I thought: "You realize this game is made by the same company that is running Madden into the ground, right?" I have zero confidence in EA to make anything close to a good game. Also, as a German CFB enthusiast without any real association to any college beyond a vague sympathy for USC, I pledge my loyalty to the college that has the first "Kofie says RUclips sub please" sign pop up during either a game or College Game Day. Somebody better make sure it's not going to be Liberty or Alabama, please.
For CFB 25, I just hope there's either a return of TeamBuilder or seasons in CFUT. I'd love it if there were both, but it's the first year so I wouldn't be mad if UT was kinda barebones and there was no create a school. If nothing else, I hope they can emulate the vibes that the old games gave off.
My biggest issue with madden is how shitty it feels. Menus are slow and clunky, even in game animations are slow and clunky, really kills me that every click has a loading screen, or so it feels.
I hope i can customize my uniforms any time like nba 2k in my league make special rivalry game uniforms or for a bowl game also expanded playoffs and make bowl games separate from playoffs I feel like the rose bowl use to feel big but now it's overshadowed by the playoffs
What I love to do in NCAA 13 is start as an OC for a shit program, spend a few years there, get a slightly better OC job and work my way up to OC of a major program, then transition to HC of a mid-tier team and basically restart the process. This takes me a LONG time but its awesome cuz I have this long story for my coach. I hope we have being a coordinator as an option in my the new one.
I could never get into being a coordinator because you would still have to recruit both sides of the ball and if I gotta do that I might as well just be a head coach. And I would always get upset at how the opposite side of the ball just seemed incompetent at football. Like I would never forget I was the OC at FAU and we were playing Alabama and we scored with like 9 seconds left, I simmed 2 plays and they went 75 yards in 8 seconds
@@sullyproductions5757 Yeah i agree but that is part of the challenge IMO. You can either recruit the other side of the ball to make them more competent, or just make your side so good it doesn’t matter how bad the others are. I play on max difficulty and I am fine losing half my games early on in these careers. I even try to schedule a really hard schedule to make my record more realistic. Obviously if you like to play a different way that is great too, just saying what I like to do :)
i have been playing ncaa 14 revamped for the last year and holy shit it’s so good. i was too young to experience it at the time but this shit is better than the maddens i have thousands of hours in LOL
These convos always make me remember nfl 2k5 with T.O on the cover!! That game had amazing features, game modes, etc. They even introduced first person gameplay. Its still ahead of its time with the garbage EA puts out
i haven’t enjoyed ea football games in 10 - 15 years and i’m not even expecting cfb 25 to be that good but i’d be lying if i said me and my friends aren’t beyond excited to play online dynasty until they turn the servers off for this title
I'm hoping, really hoping, that because they've spent a few years building the game but also knowing unlike Madden, this is super important. They've had Madden for years so they've been able to make a profit each year, but NCAA is another story. They really need to make this good because they don't have years of profits on it, not to mention we've gone ten years without one so they know we can get by without it. They have to rebuild a customer base and if they get it wrong, which is really possible, they could sink the title before they have a chance to really build on it.
One thing that gives me hope is that EA knows it has to compete with revamped and knows it will lose players if the game is ass and they will just go back
My biggest concern is the gameplay. Somehow Maddens gameplay seems to get progressively worse over the years. The old NCAA games are simple, but still pretty realistic and bug free. I feel like gameplay will feel like modern madden which I don’t love.
aslong as they focus on dynasty and rtg mode as the MAIN part of the game and have crappy UT as a side game mode it will be great just cant take the madden approach or it will suck.
NCAA games are great the same reason why so many people play FIFA or EAFC. You can play hundreds of different teams that are truly bad and turn them into a huge team. Madden is so boring in comparison. ALso, the roster turn over makes it much more fun.
You say that NCAA players are more interested in dynasty than MUT, but EA's goal is to convert those consumers into MUT players. Madden players used to be more interested in franchise mode before MUT came out
Im 30 but i mever played ncaa because when i was younger my dad and uncles only played madden so thats what i always stuck with. But im excited for a new ncaa, BUT.. im not excited that ea is making it feela like it'll be a madden reskin
I had a janky ass copy of NCAA football on my PSP. Decided once that I was just going to kick everything. Got a kicker named Ducky to win the Heisman. That was fun…
I have no faith in EA. I would rather support an indie gaming company release a college football game than buy an EA college game. The 6th gaming gen in my opinion was the last great generation for sports games. It took a nose dive in the 8th generation.
I have very little faith considering they decided to name it "College football 25", if this is supposed to be a annual release you can expect a lot of cut corners, buggy gameplay etc. Also They've already said you won't be able to create players that didn't take the money to be in the game, no coaches, OH and worst of all it's on the frostbite engine. an engine made for shooters. KOFIE WHY SHOULD WE BE PATIENT??? THEY BEEN MILKING US WITH MADDEN FOR YEARS WITH BARELY AVERAGE AND FUNCTIONAL GAMES. WE ARE STILL MISSING FEATURES WE HAD 20+ YEARS AGO!!!
Honestly the fact that an emulator is still your best friend if you want a substantial franchise mode is beyond pathetic. The fact that a significant contingent of gamers won’t have that context of what madden was means they problem will only get worse
Madden franchise is actually way better than it was during the ps4 era I honestly haven’t gotten bored of it since it came out, but I will be buying ncaa 25 instead of Madden next year
People saying this will be anything like madden clearly didn't grow up playing these games or just didn't like these games in the 1st place. I'm not even a fan of college sports but I've always had way more fun playing the games no matter what sport it is, it could be the College Hoops 2k series, EA's NCAA Basketball or NCAA Football because its never the same experience as the professional sports games whether you want to admit it or not. People just have this hate boner for EA because they were stupid enough to not give up on Madden when its been shit for 10+ years and no I'm not saying these college games are perfect but for the most part they've always been better then the professional counterpart with EA's MVP Baseball being the exception.

Breaking out the Gamecube to beat the College Classics again
I’m more of a dynasty/franchise mode player when it comes to Madden and College Football so I look forward to uploading NCAA draft rosters into Madden like past years
You need a reaction video to some of the college football 25 videos that have come out over the past month. Game looks amazing
NCAA Football 06, 11, 14 are classics
Even if it is trash (which I highly doubt) revamped will save the day
I know it wont happen but i want FCS teams back in the game
I used to love importing draft classes to Madden. In the 06 games I had a Browns franchise and a Hawaii dynasty that I must’ve ran for like 6 years.
One of my favorite moments of my childhood was beating Alabama in a bowl game in my FAU franchise. All of their receivers were 95+ speed and they ran deep routes all game 😭 it took me days because i kept restarting but it was one of my biggest accomplishments as a kid
You are way too optimistic with EA imo, just check out how they fumbled the FIFA bag and screwd up UT and Career (dynasty) mode at the same time
I think you are holding EA to a standard they haven’t been able to deliver on for almost any game they’ve made in the past 15-20 years. Especially sports games.
They've also been working on this game for like 3-4 years though
@@thunderkai7272why do you actually believe that’s true? Your telling me you believe EA is gonna deliver? When was the last time they did that?
@lil.glimpse huhhh shut up. Ncaa was never good. It just had more life than madden. Clown
NCAA Baseball - too long. Had to sim to finish a season. Felt like recruiting was pointless, I want playing much more
NCAA 2004 was my jam
I want to get hyped, but i haven't played any football game since Ps3 was out. If this game doesn't bring me back, nothing will.
NCAA 2005, behind you, that was my first NCAA game! Played so many hours on that
I just want mascot mode above all else, in terms of having one wacky thing, because I don't trust current EA to acknowledge the variety was what mattered most in the college games and why they had an extended shelf life.
First college football game was ncaa 03 but first one I played a lot was NCAA 08. Lot of great memories on the PS2
bro.... Folgers hat on the One Piece Hockeyyyy???! .... ... ................ sheesh...........🔥
They bout to have NIL as a paid DLC
Football manager Mention W
The wild boy GTA/NCAA/MADDEN crossovers are going to be crazy! lol
I had the OG Bill Walsh college football on Sega Genesis. I always preferred to play the college games to Madden.
This is a great video!! I hope EA watches this.
I’m a weirdo and on my RTTS player in MLBTS 23 I have played 7 full seasons and played every game. Still playing today.
I hope i can customize my uniforms any time like nba 2k in my league make special rivalry game uniforms or for a bowl game also expanded playoffs and make bowl games separate from playoffs I feel like the rose bowl use to feel big but now it's overshadowed by the playoffs
I prefer playing GM modes with known players personally. There's something about the realism imbued with your creativity that just does it for me.
Ill keep playing 06 and 14.
Still got 06 on ps2 and I got ncaa 09 on 360 for campus legend stuff and lore
i have been playing ncaa 14 revamped for the last year and holy shit it’s so good. i was too young to experience it at the time but this shit is better than the maddens i have thousands of hours in LOL
reggie bush in NCAA '05 was a DAWG
These convos always make me remember nfl 2k5 with T.O on the cover!! That game had amazing features, game modes, etc. They even introduced first person gameplay. Its still ahead of its time with the garbage EA puts out
Underrated feature to me is dynamic attendance
i haven’t enjoyed ea football games in 10 - 15 years and i’m not even expecting cfb 25 to be that good but i’d be lying if i said me and my friends aren’t beyond excited to play online dynasty until they turn the servers off for this title
Madden takes features out so they can add them back in years later and call the NEW.. the track record is there, they can't even deny it anymore.
One thing that gives me hope is that EA knows it has to compete with revamped and knows it will lose players if the game is ass and they will just go back
"Fumble University" 😅 one word: CHAMPIONSHIP!
My biggest concern is the gameplay. Somehow Maddens gameplay seems to get progressively worse over the years. The old NCAA games are simple, but still pretty realistic and bug free. I feel like gameplay will feel like modern madden which I don’t love.
Definitely, pro games I'm always concerned with trying to get my favorite players. College I get to relax much more and just enjoy it.
aslong as they focus on dynasty and rtg mode as the MAIN part of the game and have crappy UT as a side game mode it will be great just cant take the madden approach or it will suck.
Also, importable Draft classes into madden would go along way for me to actually give a f about madden so i hope they bring it back
I'm cautiously optimistic. Given EA's track record I know the risk, but given that I can have a new college game for my ps5 is huge to me.
kofie, with the mls season starting, can we get some football (soccer)/fifa content???
hey kofie what's the best part of waking up?
The bigger variety in plays always made it more fun to play than Madden for me.
NCAA games are great the same reason why so many people play FIFA or EAFC. You can play hundreds of different teams that are truly bad and turn them into a huge team. Madden is so boring in comparison. ALso, the roster turn over makes it much more fun.
Also I hope the NIL license means 2K could bring back College Hoops 2K. That series is even more overdue for a return than College Football.
Love the Tim Richmond hat
I love the Tim Richmond hat
Love that Folgers hat
You say that NCAA players are more interested in dynasty than MUT, but EA's goal is to convert those consumers into MUT players. Madden players used to be more interested in franchise mode before MUT came out
koffie videos always on while im eating lmao
Good shit I’ve never played a modern Madden but you make it interesting
I need them to add the FCS schools so I can rebuild Columbia and Fordham
Im 30 but i mever played ncaa because when i was younger my dad and uncles only played madden so thats what i always stuck with. But im excited for a new ncaa, BUT.. im not excited that ea is making it feela like it'll be a madden reskin
Excited to see the *Fumble Dimension* possibilities!! :-)
so happy college football is coming back
I love the sandbox style. It’s kinda why I don’t really care if the NIL athletes come in. It’s why I usually play Football Manager with fake players.
I had a janky ass copy of NCAA football on my PSP. Decided once that I was just going to kick everything. Got a kicker named Ducky to win the Heisman. That was fun…
Yeah but are they gonna have Neck at LSU home games?
From what i hearing is the nfl veto a lot of things from going into Madden which college football doesn't do that
Where'd you get the Folgers hat?
If they bring back Online Dynasty- instant W
How is the broadcast camera “unsettling” lol
I have no faith in EA. I would rather support an indie gaming company release a college football game than buy an EA college game. The 6th gaming gen in my opinion was the last great generation for sports games. It took a nose dive in the 8th generation.
Bliss and gaming heaven was when EA didn't have the license and we got 10 football games a year I'm old enough to remember that
The only college football game I’ve ever played is retro college bowl 😭
I need 2k to make a college hoops again. The only thing that sucks is that college basketball as a whole is kind of dying.
NCAA 06 the best one in my opinion
