We showed our kids and grandkids what ladybug larvae look like, and now they “save” those too, by putting them on plants from the patio. More farm animals!!! Yaaaaayyyyyyy, water…….. hmmmmmmmm, ducks!?! 🪿

It’s so satisfying watching the water travel down the channels. It gives a real appreciation of our precious water. Love that John stopped his walk for us to listen to the sound of laying chickens and then that he was spot on. Then of course, how can I not mention how quickly Crusoe learnt to handle the lady bug. So gentle… just as he will be now with the eggs after seeing the egg crack when it fell from his hands.
I can't say what was my favorite moment in this episode. If it was your excitement with those beautiful eggs, if it was the great work done by John with the irrigation system or Crusoe's face and enthusiasm with the ladybug, the eggs, the strawberrys... he is a precious little boy ☺ And about those animals... I'm betting on ducks! But you should get a cat and sheep, but sheep are very social animals, so you can't just have one, and goats, they would eat that bamboo to the roots! Goats eat everything. I've never loved your family more... I have to tell you that the first time I found that one of our bantams had laid an egg I was I think maybe eight or nine years old and I ran into the house to my mother. She was on the phone (what a shock) and I said "mama, Mama, we got an egg!" She jumped off that phone and pulled out our small little cast-iron skillet and fried up the egg and we shared it. I will never forget, holding that warm egg in my hand. It had literally come out of that his body. What you were giving your children doesn't even have a name.
That's the strangest thing! When I saw the chickens at the beginning of the video, I was going to ask if they had laid any eggs yet. I'm delighted to see that they are and your joy at finding them was heartwarming.

I remember when our girls first started laying, and how excited that made us ☺️. How cute they were taking shelter from the rain under the plant leaves 😁🌸. We’ve had overcast weather, with some rain, here in New Mexico too, and it feels so nice ☺️ I love all the canals dug to water all the plants in your veggie garden!!! So fun to watch the water run to all the plants ☺️💜🌸
What glorious abundance! I'm amazed (but not surprised) at how much you continue to accomplish week to week. Wonderful. And it's a bit of a background thing, but how wonderful the cobblestone path looks coming out of the greenhouse, against all the crops in the garden. Really great. Crusoe is just amazing, and you are providing so much education for him by letting him experience the world around him. Letting him hold the fresh egg was a great idea. I'm looking forward to adding chickens to our little homestead soon, I miss having animals on the land. Are you getting goats? Or ducks? Kittens? Haha, you can see what kinds of things I like. I think adding mulch would be a great way to preserve water, old straw. Is there any in the area? It will also add tilth to the soil, build it up quite quickly.

Why the music? To me the sounds of Nature are so much better......the wind in the leaves, the birds, streaming waters (rain!!!) , cosy chickens, the rooster, a child playing, a parent singing.......or just Silence. There are artificial noises everywhere nowadays. To be quite honest: i hate it! Luckily i live in a silent place in the midst of Nature since 1990. Many people are afraid of Silence.........

Your chickens have so much personality that it just confirms I'm doing the right thing by paying more for free range eggs. Sweet how Crusoe's face lit upon collecting eggs. Tara, looks like you're managing those rows of water beautifully. Hopefully, you have a good downpour coming up.

Crusoe is such a gorgeous little boy. Running around in his bare feet amongst the vegetables. Helping with watering, egg collecting. He’s hands on with everything. How carefully brought the ladybug the veg patch. He is so full of wonderment. 😊 your doing great with the irrigation. 😊
Watching water run through the little gullies is very satisfying!

Crusoe is just amazing, and you are providing so much education for him by letting him experience the world around him. Letting him hold the fresh egg was a great idea. By dropping it he had the opportunity to learn how fragile eggs can be. Also, how perfectly sneaky is he? His expression after eating the strawberry is priceless. I'm looking forward to adding chickens to our little homestead soon, I miss having animals on the land. Are you getting goats? Or ducks? Kittens? Haha, you can see what kinds of things I like. I think adding mulch would be a great way to preserve water, old straw. Is there any in the area? It will also add tilth to the soil, build it up quite quickly.

Why the music? To me the sounds of Nature are so much better......the wind in the leaves, the birds, streaming waters (rain!!!) , cosy chickens, the rooster, a child playing, a parent singing.......or just Silence. There are artificial noises everywhere nowadays.
To be quite honest: i hate it! Luckily i live in a silent place in the midst of Nature since 1990.
Many people are afraid of Silence.........

Everything is progressing well and I smiled when Crusoe was caught at the strawberries, his expression was priceless. Joel (I'm not certain how to spell his name) is a very handy young man on the land.
