    Reg Presley of theTroggs was once asked in an interview, after this song was released, what he had been taking or smoking when he wrote lyrics and music like this. His answer was that he actually wrote this song in his mum's front room while drinking a cup of tea.

      "Love Is All Around" and "Wild Thing" are the only 2 songs I remember from The Troggs. But both are 60's classics.

      Stephen Ulmer I bought Wild Thing the week it was released. It drove my parents nuts as it was never off my turntable. Written by Reg Presley on the back of a cigarette packet on a train I believe. He did this all the time, he’d get a moment of inspiration and jot things down so he had an original draft to come back to, he’d no bother remembering the tune but wasn’t so clever with the words, remembering that is, he wrote good lyrics of the time,
      We had our own words for a shy girl who was one of our friends at this time,
      It went “Betty King, you make my balls ring. How about fling, you’re such a wild thing Come on come on Wild King” her face was as red as a traffic stop sign but she did laugh about it. Ah, the 60’s when you made your own fun, basically because we had to, the transistor had been invented and the small 3”x4” battery radios had arrived and your pocket money went on batteries coz the radio was never off. Like cellphones, many were confiscated in the class room as you had a single corded earpiece, and told people you were deaf, but few fell for it, especially teachers😂 Yep, “Those were the days my friend, We thought they’d never end”👍👍❤️

    • @coolvoice7
      @coolvoice7 4 года назад +2

      tltatt “A girl like you” was another hit for them. Love is all around, went international when recorded by Scottish group Wet Wet Wet got the Movie “Four weddings and a funeral” it was top of the charts for months. Reg Presley who wrote it said at the time, he had the lifestyle of a king rom the royalties alone. Sadly Reg is no longer with us but thank goodness for his brilliant music👍❤️

    Your reaction was very heartwarming. Nice to see that you got the song. This song was from my schoolboy teen years in Singapore with sunshine every day and schoolgirls in miniskirts. Very nostalgic for me as those were my happiest times and in the sixties we all thought the world was going to turn out like paradise.

    I must have been 16. I was at school, and during break, a guy called Graham Revell came up to me and said, "John, have you heard the new band called "The Troggs", singing Wild Thing.?" He had never heard anything like it before.When I went home it was playing on the radio, and Graham had been right. In 1966 it had a sound unlike anything before.It was great!! Wild Thing went to number one very fast, both in the UK and USA. Ty India for playing Love Is All Around. Other Troggs hits were, " With a girl like you", " I cant control myself".

    Nice! When I was 15, I got my first electric guitar. This song (and Wild Thing) were the first songs I could play all the way through. Twenty years later, my band opened for them at a concert. We played real good that night, then after the concert we partied with the Trogg's until the very late hours. They had a small mountain of cold beer to consume. The guitar player Chris Britton signed my Fender Strat. I asked Reg if he had really been stabbed at a concert like the papers reported in the late '60's. He didn't talk, just opened his shirt and showed me the scars. So much fun, and a nice bunch of guys. Reg didn't like me telling him I learned his songs when I was a kid, he thought I looked as old as him.

    This is my favorite song that The troggs ever did. There other famous song was wild thing which Jimi Hendrix covered in 1967 I believe. It was then covered in 1972 I Believe by the one-hit-wonder group called Fancy. I love both the covers of wild thing. The troggs version the people who wrote the song is wonderful too and it's a lot of fun.Miss India would you please consider doing The troggs version of wild thing they have other obscure little songs that don't get play on the radio they are a neat band. I started listening to them when I was 10 years old and I am now nearly 64 years old. I thank you for your time 😘 with respect always, Brant Heavner 😊Hugs

    I do love this song. One of my favorite Christmas songs is a slightly rewritten version of this song: "Christmas Is All Around" from the movie "Love Actually" (2003). I don't know if I would recommend the music video for "Christmas Is All Around" as it seems to be at least partially a spoof of the music video for "Simply Irresistible" (1988) by Robert Palmer and is slightly inappropriate for the song IMHO. LOL.
