- I put the second GoPro in the cockpit of the Me-262 for he demo flight on Sunday, October 15th. Apologies for the canopy frame blocking some of the view. Didn't have to edit this one too much, mostly just trimmed out the parts where he was stopped and waiting to takeoff. Enjoy!
Wish that cockpit cam were set. Little higher for us to see more!
Yeah, me too! Didn't catch that until I downloaded the video from the camera for editing. Just bought a new mount that will solve that problem, so I'll have a better vantage point in any aircraft!
Sweet. First time I've seen the 262 flying from inside the cockpit. Many thanks for posting this man!
Glad you liked it! I plan on doing more of these as I can, and even bought a better mount so you all get a better view.
Love the Collings Foundation! I got to fly on the 909 and your 24... I've been learning DCS from your videos as a break from my CFI studies. Hope to see you on tour!
Thank you! Glad you got to ride on 909 as well. Happy you are finding the DCS videos helpful, what do you usually fly? And good luck with the CFI!
Over here in Chino I'm used to seeing a Sabre chase a Mig around the sky once a year but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a 262 fly. Cool stuff, thanks for sharing!
My pleasure, glad you are enjoying the videos!
A good first time shot. Keep it up DT!
Thank you!
Great video of the canopy rail.
Live and learn. I have a different mount now to get a better view.
Talk about crammed in!!
The 262 isn't too bad. Our A-4 on the other hand, that is a cramped cockpit!
@@DieselThunderAviation I agree but at least you have elbow and shoulder room even with an A-4
Very cool! 👍
Thanks! 👍
Good stuff diesel!
Thank you!
How about doing a walk around before or after so we can see the Bird? I watched the whole thing to get a look at her but no joy. Do you ever do a fly by at airshows going past other Prop Fighters to show how much faster? That would be cool now, not so much in combat with a prop plane.
Thank you for the comment! I'll look to do more walk arounds on the aircraft in the future. She did fly with other warbirds last year, including a B-17 and C-47. Got a great shot of a B-17 flying down the show line, with the 262 swooping in from behind for an attack run, with a P-51 further behind. Sadly, that very B-17 was Texas Raiders which crashed at the Dallas airshow two weeks after our airshow. Since then, it seems they are trying to avoid having dissimilar aircraft flying together.
was that on Friday or Saturday?
The 262 flew in the Sunday show. Our pilot that flew the 262, flew the Mig-15 in the Saturday show. He also flew the A-1D Skyraider both days.
What is the history of your ME 262?
She is a reproduction that was built in 2002. The Me-262 Project helped restore White 35 (currently on display in Pensacola) and in the process documented and blueprinted everything. They’ve since built 8 Me-262 aircraft, and the one we have was the first one.
@@DieselThunderAviation Cool! Thank you.
@@DieselThunderAviation The Me-262 project only constructed five aircraft, with four flyable and one static. The limit of five was intentional. There were leftover parts and I think most of an airframe for test assembly and I think the parts were sold to Germany to combine with original parts for a static Me-262 display.
