Pure feel. This band was one of a kind and few come close to their class.

Woke up this morning to the news that Gregg passed away. Though I knew he was sick and this was coming, it still hurts. This is the very first song I thought of. Anyone who ever needed to hear the blues for whatever reasons knows his voice was so passionate yet soothing. RIP Gregg. Many of your songs provided the soundtrack for the majority of my life. Thank you for that.

I can hear this every day of the world, and hear something different each time. This is my 'stranded on a desert island' song. I don't want to sound sappy (too late) but there is something profoundly spiritual about it.

The entire piece is just pure rhythm genius, the main riff is one of the most mournful and it builds to so many changes. Duane's Solo is awesome. I was lucky enough to first see them at Piedmont Park 1970 and that was it. Always loved their music.

Going to college in Macon, GA in 1971 forward, I feel like this song embodies Gregg and family who I had pleasure to get to know. I started college at Mercer University in September, 1971, just a mere month before Duane departed this life. So much controversy with the City "fathers" about where he was buried and that it seemed to draw a certain segment of people (according to them) who were "unsavory." They used to come on campus and do free concerts for us. We all ate at the H&H Restaurant downtown Macon ~ the best food and down home atmosphere you can only imagine. Then, 1972 takes Berry Oakley from us. I feel so blessed to have been around them during that time.

How cool !! This is one of my all-time favorites, though Stormy Monday runs close..to many to name. My channel has a lot of music from that time. There is a great version of "One Way Out" with Dickey Betts doing what he does best for about a minute at the beginning..an awesome intro! Were you there around the same time? That music and its memories keeps me young at heart :)) Thanks! ~Ginny~

Was fortunate to grow up in Hot Lanta and be around to see a lot of great bands in the late 60's and early 70's. Saw the Allman Brothers at Piedmont Park and in the summer of 71' at the Municipal Auditorium before Skydog was taken from us. The Hampton Grease Band opened for ABB. Great show...

Ah, I was at the same show! It was the summer I turned 15, and my first rock concert ever. Had no idea at the time what a privilege it was, or that we would lose Duane in just a few months. One of the main things I remember is that, before the Grease Band began their set, the auditorium operators kept waving the spotlights around on a couple of big "No Smoking" signs on the wall. Which you could barely see through all the ... smoke.

I grew up a Beatles fanatic. I love all kinds of rock, jazz and especially the blues, but out of all that music Dreams is my favorite. What a song! Duane Allman's four minute solo is my favorite solo ever. It is a thing of beauty!

There's nothing like a song with soul. They put their heart and soul into their careers at this time. Brothers and band members dying, drugs and alcohol. Some would say "What a waste" or "What a shame" but I say "What a sacrifice for the enjoyment of life". It is always hard to know what the truth is but there is a big ol' band in heaven and it is full of Southern rockers. One day I hope to join that jam session. "I got Dreams I'll never see, Yeah babe, oh help me baby, this will surely be the end of me."

Saw them perform this in the Vanderbilt gym in front of thousands of nashville's hippie finest, fall 1970 (BTW the 2 brothers born there, not in the gym). Of course I carry that experience with me until I leave the planet. The show opened with Berry Oakley's vocal on Hoochie Coochie Man, and if you remember the opening to that with the build-up, you know it was perfect for the occasion, the anticipation so thick like fresh concrete mix.

Duane just sort of wanders down a path in a meadow and finds the field in full bloom just round the corner. Up he goes, higher still and sees the clouds come over the ridge in speedy white wisps. Then he glances downward and there, deep in the valley, a lone steeple white. And the wind whips at his back and he feels the spirits of those before him.
He winds a deeper breath and shouts, hearing his voice come back in echo.

What I'm about to peach... I mean preach, is gospel... No if, ands, or butts.Your one deranged and lost soul of you don't worship this amazing, almost to the point of being a phychedelic bluesy cry into the wilderness through those awesome vocal chords Gregg Allman sings through as he does growl at times in such an honest way you actually believe him. The only better version than this is live at the 2nd annual pop festival in Atlanta Ga Summer of 1970. Gregg and Duane, along with Barry Jaimo and Butch are in rate form. Gregg took those vocals to new hieghts that day a did Duane, Barry and the rest. God sent the ABB down from some other demension a gift to mankind.RIP my most beloved band of all time... And again... Thank You Jesus.

Alfred would say about this guitar work. "He has the touch" to imitate his playing is a real study.Try it sometime, fretboard work and Pickwork muted by other fingers. He often picked a note on a bent string and released it in a controlled manner. Duane wow. Dickie wow. Gregs Vocal on this recording is unmatched. Mauw!
