Not to be pedantic, but as a big weather fan I thought I would mention I am pretty sure the "hail" you saw was sleet. Its a different formation process but to put it simply the ice melts a bit as it is falling but then gets colder near the ground and refreezes into those little pellets. Hail is in the warm weather and it is when the ice balls get thrown up and down in the clouds to accumulate material before falling eventually.

The green screen in the tower is actually really useful when theres bad weather! I went to Tokyo Tower and the weather was so bad, everything was white. But we thankfully managed to at least get a good photo thanks to the green screen! It was the only time we could go - we were traveling, and it was free! Excluding the entrance price that is. Actually smart of them! If not we would've returned down from the tower extremely disappointed we couldn't see anything and nothing for keepsake of the memory.

12:30 I worked in a hotel in Toya for internship for a year, and seeing it felt really nostalgic. I want to go back ;-; FYI, the firework is an entertainment which many surrounding hotels team up and offer to their customers to enjoy. It goes up everyday for a certain period of time.
Hmm, makes me think that I've never actually seen 'camping' videos from people in Japan. It's always people staying in some building/residential space and never far from a city, snow camping is certainly something I haven't experienced as an aussie and the spots you could visit far away from people would be interesting. The abandoned places you (and your other friends) visit with Chris are interesting and 'camping' might lead to more of that.
My wife and I stayed in Sapporo in October 2019, and spent a night in Noboribetsu. This video really brings me back to those good pre-pandemic days. We so badly want to go back to Hokkaido, and I particularly want to go back to Noboribetsu with a little more time to actually look around.

Been to Hokkaido during 2019, it's a super under-rated travel destination IMO and isn't super crowded by tourists. Renting a car and getting a toll pass(if you don't, the toll will kill your wallet) is highly recommended if you want to visit the countryside for those nice and sweet picturesque views.
@@MusiicRoolz yup, they basically pay for itself after the first toll out of Sapporo. Toll going from Sapporo to Toya is 10,000 yen one way. You can still use the train and the bus, but the best spots are tucked away from the usual train and bus routes.
I set a promise to myself to visit Japan within the next five years and have decided to go in the fall when it's not too cold and not too hot. Really would love to do a trip like this, though. I wonder how much Japanese I can learn in the meantime... Also, wish I had someone that would go with me...trying to prepare myself to be totally on my own, which is a little depressing when visiting the furthest from home I'll ever have been, but so be it.
When I went to Lake Toya they had some firework show as well. It was really nice. That area is really beautiful during the summer. I was there late June/Early July when I went there. So nice.
