Hi, your recipe looks delicious. Gonna try make halal version of this.
Any recommendations for substitute of lard and Shaoxing wine?

Hi nakata18. the pork lard can be substituted with 2 tablespoon of cooking oil or onion oil. For Shaoxing wine, can be omitted. I have posted the list of ingredients and the measurements in the description box below the video as well. I hope you will enjoy the Yee Mee. Happy cooking 😊👍

Tqvm for the recipe. For muslims, pork lard can be replaced with butter.

That's an hour at least of cooking time, is it really worth the effort? I've noticed that it tastes exactly the same, without all the waiting and boiling and steaming time. Plus you don't actually need any onions or garlic and I cooked mine with fish balls and choi sam in 20mins.

Hi Tri Avisa, thank you for the comment 😀 Yes, this recipe uses pork lard and Chinese cooking wine as it's similar to the way Chinese restaurants prepare this dish. For a halal-friendly version, you can substitute pork lard with chicken skin or chicken fat and omit the cooking wine. Hope it helps 😀
