We Have NEVER PAINTED A JON BOAT - Learning How To Spray Paint

- If we can do it, anyone can. The hardest part about this was prepping the jon boat for paint and then deciding to roll it or spray it. The easiest part was deciding to use the Aluma Hawk Paint. It works specifically for aluminum boats and requires no primer, just make sure you sand before applying. We used a half gallon for the outside of this 14' Crestliner (2 thin coats). I will be buying another quart to make sure I will have enough for the inside as long as I don't spill anymore. - We learned a lot and plan to add more M.E.K. thinner when we flip it over to do the inside. We hope our experience helps :)

It took a long time to wait for the perfect weather conditions after hearing back from Uncle Martin saying he would let us use his spray gun. Thanks again!
Thanks Anthony Jones for the inspiration!

Nice job guys
Hey, thanks!
Well done Vinnie. Turned out really nice.
True North Angler Thank you
Badass project vinnie!! Excited to see the boat all finished 🙏🏻
Yeah it looks easy on camera lol we have quite a bit more to do 😂
Look forward to seeing how this project progresses! I bet you will have a lot of fun in this rig 🤠
Thanks dude. Today was test day and everything went smooth and works great. Jus a few tiny tweaks left then it’s go time!
Nice project Vinnie, its a challenge to get paint to flow well sometimes....you did good!
Thanks Ash! 👍🏼 Yeah we never really figured it out that day but hopefully the day we do the inside will go a lot more smooth
Boat is coming along great bud not long and it will be in the water!!
Thanks Josh. A little more paint and a lot of wiring then it'll be good to go
Yeah when I worked in a shop my boss and I redid his little v bottom and I wish I had a picture we ran all of his wiring through small pvc that tucked up under the inside lip that looked great was hidden and kept everything out of the elements. Can’t wait until it’s done!
Oh ya I know what you are talking about with the PVC. I want to do that but my wires are 4 guage so theres not enough room to pull them through PVC and then under the ribs. Thanks for watching dude.
Cool, I can't wait to see the finished product. I bet it will be awesome
Thanks for watching Michael, I'm very anxious to get it done lol
I like the lighter color better, cooler in the hot sun. Good job.
Your'e right! I noticed that this past weekend and I'm actually glad it's lighter for that reason now. Thanks J
Cool, I need to paint my 1448 too! Currently trying to get my motor running and then would like to build a deck. Looking forward to the progress. 👍
Thanks John! What color are you planning on painting it? I think you will enjoy seeing the casting deck we came up with, thanks for watching :)
@@PureFishermenTV right now it's the same as yours was, but I think I might want a tan/brownish color.
John Klopp that’s cool 👍🏼 I was considering that one as well
Your Dad, gutsy? LOL. Loved the way you mixed the paint and the thinner IN the paint reservoir. That like how Kirk used to fill his YZ tank with gas then pour a little 2 stroke in there and bounce up and down on the front handlebars. Great video though. Nice paint job.
lol we hadn't spilled a drop until he got gutsy! 😂 And yeah mixing it in that pitcher made it easier but I think we wasted a bit of paint doing it that way. It also dried up in there pretty fast making it difficult to re-use. Thanks for watching Karl!
I seriously don’t understand why you don’t have more subs...
Probably don’t upload enough 😅
Pretty sure that I asked you this before but where in Michigan are you from
Oakland county
Vinnie G. Gotcha. Keep it up
