Great to watch John, always informative. I know exactly how you feel, I did have 2 employees, then one left for pastures new and now the other one is off sick after an operation. Don't mind working on my own, but things don't progress as quickly which can be frustrating.
I know bud its not good.
Cheers jb
Need to approach it from a tiling mentality when laying porcelain.pour a 4”slab, comb on correct adhesive
i think so to
How far do you go with the the slab though ?dpm ,mesh.
What's your thoughts on a base prep, I'm going to be doing 22mm porcelain slabs in a 13 square meter area all surrounded by sleepers so everything is solid around it & won't budge, just need to dig out the grass and soil, I was going to limestone it then put a 70 mm slab of concrete would that be enough, the only heavy traffic is me putting the bins out once a week & the dogs doing the dirty on it nightly
Sounds perfect Andy mate
As a tiler of 40 years inside work I’ve looked at all this new tiling outside and think the best way to go is 100 mm of type 1 or lean then 75+ of fibre screed levels can be achieved then and laying the tiles on flexible ex adhesive and proper grout to expel water to run off and install so much quicker cheers Jonny
Hi Leslie mate thanks for watching, really appreciate your feedback, I feel that laying Porcelain is a different ball game and we arranged a big meet up for landscapers at Bal Adhesives and it was so educational, I would like to chat with you when you have 5 if thats possible? be safe mate, Johnyboy
Yes no problem have emailed you and awaiting reply cheers
Great video, very informative. How much would you need to dig out from the final finished level - 100mm Lean mix / 30mm mortar / 20mm porcelain, so near enough 6". Is that right?
Had the local landscaper down to have a look at the garden, after watching a few of your videos Johnyboy he didn't really fill me with confidence.
Hi Sam, thanks for watching, where about are you? depth will always depend on the substrate, always happy to talk, Johnyboy
@@GreentopLandscapes hey Johnyboy, we're in North London - do you guys come out this far? Substrate seems to be soil.
Plan for subase is :
* Dig down 150mm.
* Use a medium vibrating plate to compact soil.
* Lay a 125gsm membrane and pin down with staples.
* Lay a subbase of 8 Ballast to 1 cement to a depth of 100mm.
* Level and compact using a medium vibrating plate, taking into consideration falls.
Have i missed anything obvious. cheers mate.
Bore da, what exactly do u ask the concrete company for in mix ratio and how wet? I need 3.2 cube
how do you actually achieve this base? Is there type 1 underneath the lean mix? or is it all lean mix concrete and if so how thick? I have a job coming up where there is already a type 1 base there, but the customer would like me to rake some off and then put a lean mix over the top..how thick would the lean mix need to be? and is it just cement and sharp sand?
A Lean mix can be as thick as you want it ob but in the case of a patio I would have at lease 3 inches compacted over the top f a Type 1
Sorry to trouble you but I watch all your videos and laid a lovely porcelain patio, thanks, I've just sealed it and my brown slabs have turned white, how can I resolve this?
I not sure Anthony mate
@@GreentopLandscapes is it possible to remove sealant from the slabs ?
I need to know more drop me an email and some pics
