My 6 months puppy would not stay away from me while I am going to the bathroom or other room let alone to leave him alone. I git him when he was 4months and a half old. I live with flatmates who do nightshifts so I try to keep him quiet so that they can sleep during the day so I take him everywhere with me to avoidpersistentn crying and barking.

Same!! but I got my Mini Doxi when he was 9 weeks, I've had him a week today, he's getting there w/ the toilet training, although he's just NOT sleeping at night!! right now I'm crate training him, we live across the road from a couple who used to breed them, and they've given us a crate, and he's 5 nights in and he's STILL hating it...and he's letting us know about it, lemme tell you lol, but everything I've read about it, its all coming up as Separation Anxiety, poor sod sleeps all day and we try and keep him awake as much as poss, follows me everywhere lol, I love him to bits, I just wish he'd sleep at night!!! HELP ME!!!

We picked up our 12-week-old dachshund puppy two days ago. She came from an outstanding kennel, and is well on the way to being toilet AND crate trained. Regarding toilet training: her first accident taught me her signs for needing to go outside. We now take her out every hour or two hours - depending on if she is sleeping - and there have been no further problems. She alway goes outside before eating and after she wakes from her nap, regardless of the last time she went out. It’s easy enough to time her naps if we tire her out sufficiently. She gets taken to the same place to do her business, and is rewarded on the spot with a piece of kibble. My husband has been carrying her outside to the spot because it has been very cold here in Toronto (and she clearly dislikes the cold), but it is warming up, so I have begun taking her to her spot on her lead, lured by her little bag of kibble. So far, so good. Regarding crate training: while she was crate trained by her breeder, she always had the company and security of her siblings in their crate. While we decided to put the crate in our bedroom to keep her near us, it was not enough to prevent her anxiety. That disappeared when we repositioned the crate to be beside our bed. That we are close by offers our puppy enough security that she actually slept through the night last night! Over time, as she gets more comfortable and secure in her new environment, we’ll slowly move the crate back to its preferred spot. My next task is to avoid separation anxiety when she’ll be left alone. I’ll follow the guidelines offered in this video.

I don't know if it bad behavior or what . He's still a baby. He is just 2 1/2 months old. I have to leave 4 hours a day. I've never had a baby this young.

So I have a chiweenie, almost a year old, unfortunately im up at 5:30, out by 6, dont get home till 6 or so and am just completely drained so there are times i dont take him out for the exercise he needs. he has a playpen that large with his crate attached so he can come and go from it, but I know he needs more. Will having a back yard be a good thing for him? Right now we are in an apartment, but we are building a house and it will be done soon.

@@bac9346 I dont anymore, I tried to get days to work from home but they wouldn’t let me and I tried hard to do the best for him but in the end I rehomed him with friends one of which works from home, the other is a vet tech and the have another dog. They moved to a house with a few acres, he’s living his best life now. It killed me that I couldn’t work it out but I know he’s far happier now and that’s all that matters. But I do see him every so often so that’s nice.

At least get another pet if you’re not able to find a more suitable home for your dog so that it has some company in this world. Imagine being locked up in a room all day by the person you adore. Heartbreaking and soul-killing.
