Happy 20th to us 🥳We've ranked the top 12 brands on Watchfinder.com. What brands should we rank next?
There will always be an underlying bias in this channel through no fault of your own. That aside, I’d be interested to see where you rate the following:
Lange, Moritz grossman, Vacheron, jacquet droz, glasshutte original, grand seiko, blancpain, moser, roger Dubuis to name but a few
Need a video on "Hamilton vesta vintage watch"
@@wisamal-hakim5531 Breguet ?
How could I forget Breguet?! Absolutely yes
Vacheron Constantin, Piaget, Breguet, Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Girard-Perregaux, Zenith, if Tag Heuer I would consider also Bell & Ross for execution and Ball for quality. Rolex is muuuch overpriced, technically on par with Omega.
I'm not a watch-guy by any means, but I would have guessed that Vacheron Constantin should be on that list.
Yeah its one of the three that make up the holy trinity
I'd have put them on the list. Hublot wouldn't even come to mind.
Agree. Should be above JLC.
It's less about the "best" ones, and more about the most popular ones. Andrew and Tom took the 12 most popular ones, and ranked those.
My sentiments exactly!!! Part of the holy trinity
Rolex has the most street cred, A. Lange & Söhne has the best quality, Seiko has the best value, Breguet has the iconic history and Omega the biggest hit
Seiko HAD the best value
I don't think that Seiko represents great value any more. Their prices have been rising, and the quality of their new releases slipping.
Lange does not make better quality than Patek Philippe. More like on par with JLC and Omega
@@ivanharlokin agreed, Tissot, for example, represents much more quality and value in comparison (I think). The lower end Seiko movements are terrible.
We're not on the same page there mate.
Love the in depth justification and reasoning on where to place IWC and Rolex.
😂
There was virtually no debate of why Rolex should be where it went.
@@mikez3867
I can explain it.
I mean how to compare a company making 1 mio watches a year with a minimum of decoration and not very complicated movements (accept for a few)
To let’s say Glashütte Orginal which can be considered high horology already.
It has something to do with one of the metrics they choose to use to rank these brands.
And that is the fact that EVERYONE knows Rolex. It is like ……
Yeah …. Just Rolex.
😂😂😂😂 the level of Street cred you will get outweighs finishing, quality and all other things in which Rolex is actually inferior to other brands
@@johanhirte9661 and I think it’s ironic, but not unsurprising. People hate on Rolex because it doesn’t have the same level of finishing or complicated movements as the other brands. However, none of these finishing or complications matters. If you think of watches from the average buyer, meaning someone who may have about 1-2 watches (this is being generous), most average consumer can’t even afford a luxury watch with all these prices hikes. A Rolex makes the perfect sense. It’s well known, it holds value. It’s flashy for just having the crown on it. For the average consumer, they will never get any of that form other brands, Patek and AP are out of the question, nobody has 40k to drop on a watch. But a simple date just at 13k as a celebration piece for a upper middle class person? That’s perfect.
People into watches often forget that a lot of watch buyers don’t actually give a rats ass about the complications or even company history, most Rolex buyers don’t know jack shit about the history of dive watches. That’s never the point. They want street cred and a status symbol. Very few consumers even pay any attention to how their purchased products are made, let alone learning about history of watchmaking. That brand image is also why omega is often considered the second to Rolex in ranking because it also has the same marketing strategy of trying to appeal to the middle class, they only fucked up because they didn’t do the whole waitlist tactic.
Breguet shouldn't be overlooked not to mention that small brand Seiko. Both have more right to be there before Hublot.
I haven't watched yet they lose all respect if those 2 not in list but hublot is
It's astounding that Hublot and Breitling are there, but not Vacheron Constantin or Seiko.
If you talk about Breguet then Credor should also be up in the running
with all respect but Seiko and especially its fanboys are just annoying
Agreed
1 ) Patek Phillipe
2 ) Fp Jorne
3 ) Ap / Rolex
4 ) Vacheron / H Moser
5 ) Jlc / Breguet
6 ) Omega / Iwc /
All the rest
Why JLC? their watches are super ugly and boring
Looks like a list of watch brands that don't use SUPERIOR ZARATSU POLISHING
I thoroughly enjoyed this ! 😀Great format, just started listening to the pod as well. Keep it up!
This was so much fun guys, loved every second of this content! Keep doing what you’re doing
Someone get Nico Leonard and do a re-rank of all these brands 😂
Well at least he would agree that Hublot should be last or just get tossed out of the list 😂
Nico's gonna flip the table seeing AP JUST above Hublot. The sole fact that Hublot is at the bottom wouldn't keep Nico in his seat.
Yeah, get Nico in, stand on his windpipe for about half an hour, do the world a massive favour and enjoy the rest of your day!
Nico's just a loudmouth flipper hyping to sell watches he has or trading
Nico would say:
🤦🏼♂️ This is F$&ing bullocks! I can’t continue today, my day is shite! Why? Hublob belongs in the top 10 of trash! Why is it even in this F$&ing list? Where’s VC? Where’s AL&S? Hublot? Hooooob Loooow?!?!?! I’m F$&ing done! Stop recording mate, I am gonna be sick…..🤢
@@IrishScribbler He is briefly funny and completely full of shit.
I will always appreciate your willingness to have a greater discussion about TAG. So many watch-fluencers write them off without getting into the details at all.
They deserve to be written off universally.
Tag Heuer, Hublot, but no Vacheron?!?! FECK ME DEAD!!!
Excellent video guys. I really love your conversations and look forward to the next one, as they always put a smile on my face. Yes there are other brands out there which you didn’t cover but that’s just fine. You worked with what you had and as you said at the end, we should all buy what we like/love and not necessarily what the list portrays.I canˋt agree more. Keep up the good work.
Really liked your approach. I’ll definitely score AP higher due to the history (QPs, ultra thin movements). Love Panerai, but they feel a bit overpriced to me, therefore I’d rank them below Breitling.
Great that JLC got much love!
AP make great movements. Size and designwise it's sht
I spat my drink out when you said Breitling over Panerai 🤣
@@mikem8211 I wouldnt read much into it, they do have the tendency to fuck up their own devoted customers and fanbase. they would haphazardly put in ETA movements in watches that they claim to have their in-house. Can't blame em, with the shortage of materials they have to do this to get away with the pricing to stay afloat.
Great topic and discussion! I would like to see a similar video with more affordable brands such as Seiko, Tissot, Bulova, Orient, Citizen, Timex, Casio, Hamilton, Vostok, Junghans, Marathon, Victorinox, et. al.
Don't forget Certina
For up to 10K-15K generally, #1 Omega - it has all including tech at a reasonable price (compared to other 'luxury' class), though in last 3-4 years they are creeping up. On a 2k-5K I'd put Longines along with Tag as favourites. As per your list I'd put Rolex on 3rd spot.
WHAT ABOUT ALS!!!! HOW CAN YOU MISS IT!
It’s not swiss
It's not in the most popular 12 brands on the website, that's all.
Guys, they're ranking the top brands mentioned on their website, calm down with Vacherons and Grand Seikos lol
Their list:
-Rolex
-Patek Philippe
-Jaeger LeCoultre
-Omega
-Cartier
-IWC
-Panerai
-Breitling
-Tudor
-TAG Heuer
-Audemars Piguet
-Hublot
The fact that Hublot is in this list and not SEIKO is nonsense!
Seiko grand seiko not on list something is not right here
No Lange !?
That list is actually sound. not watched the video yet. but AP really rely on one model and it's variants.
Thank you, saved me from losing my mind at how busted this list is...
I'm curious how you would rank micro-brands since a lot are unknown about them. For example, are the quality of Lang Heyne watches of the same caliber as FP Journe's?
Love your podcasts guys.. hilarious and informative!
But what about Vacheron, Grand Seiko?
PS Poor AP..
I actually agree with this list 💯 Happy birthday Watchfinder 🎉😎 Especially as I brought my first watch and Rolex with them! When you could get them under retail. I got a Yacht-master 16622 for £4250 the good old days 🎉🎉
This was hilarious… I love the approach of this list “brand” vs. “best watchmakers” which is an important distinction… and I agree with Tom, Breaking Bad is a nice sequel to BCS lol 👍🏼👍🏼😂😂
I LOVE my Breitling Super Avenger. I spent 3 years shopping for it and I'll never buy another watch. But, aesthetics are far more important to me than it is for many collectors.
Breitling are a powerhouse - their case polishing is exceptional and they're a stronger brand than Tudor for sure, especially away from the watch enthusiast community.
For those who are complaining about some brands missing, did you not listen or what? 0:47
This was an entertaining and thought-provoking video, but not for the reasons one might expect. To friends losing their minds over the rankings and Hublot, you clearly didn't pay attention to the beginning and the end of the video. The point is that these kinds of rankings are arbitrary, subjective, not gospel or canon, and just a bit of silly indulgence. Stop taking everything so seriously and laugh.
1. And how can you NOT laugh at the Yorkie wearing the aviators a la Joe Biden, a la Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a la Iceman? Now that is the best representation of street cred ever.
2. Man oh man. This is supposed to be AP's year. They get hit with the "one watch" thing (while Patek gets slammed for killing the Nautilus...one cannot win). And the Code 11:59 is still gets no love. Can't win for trying.
3. Patek has street cred because of John Mayer? Let's be clear. John Mayer is the opposite of street cred. One appearance on Chapelle Show don't mean sh*t. His watch picks, like his songs, are pedestrian, predictable and boring. F*ck Hodinkee for giving him more influence than he deserves.
4. TOM SHOOTS AND SCORES: Rolex is Tudor's "Big Sister."
5. TOM SHOOTS AND SCORES AGAIN: Re the Navitimer, "That guy slide rules."
6. TOM SCORES A HAT TRICK: TAG Heuer "takes more chances, scores more goals. Quantitatively better."
7. Omega is like Paul McCartney. All its hits are 40 years or older, or look like they are. Nothing wrong with that, I guess.
8. My only serious point: this is a list of SWISS watches. The title should be clear. There is no Seiko, Grand Seiko, A. Lange or Glashutte Original. It's fine, but let's be honest about the limitations of discussion.
Definitely some brands missing here. Longines springs to mind. I say this as I was surprised to learn recently that despite their “budget luxury” position in the market today I understand that by revenue, they are the fifth largest Swiss manufacturer behind Rolex, Omega, Cartier and AP.
I think they were choosing from the most sold brands on watchfinder rather than any top 10
I'll stick with my Longines (bought from Watchfinder). Well made, good value and lots of history.
Always entertaining listening to you two, thanks!
Interesting ranking, I mostly agree, but I would have went for Grand Seiko instead of Hublot, also It would have done much better..
Its been years already listening you podcast. Happy 20th anniversary watchfinder.
I’m glad we all see AP for what it is
Happy 20th anniversary/birthday WF community!!🎉🍻
I hope to see a 2nd video updating the list with ALS, GS (including Credor), Seiko, VC, Ulysse Nardin, HMC, FPJ, Breguet, Zenith, etc
Happy birthday guys, good review as usual, keep up the good work...
1. Patek Philippe
2. Rolex
3. Omega
4. Jeager-LeCoultre
5. Cartier
6. IWC
7. Panerai
8. Breitling
9. Tudor
10. TAG Heuer
11. Audemars Piguet
12. Hublot
Almost perfect! Panerai below Breitling. And me personally I hate Breitling
Dare i put tudor over Panerai and breitling. Just from a cleaner sport watch perspective I suppose...I always found Panerai to be the most boring looking watch and well Breitling just too gaudy with the exception of the superocean.
I hate Panerai so no, Breitling goes on top. 😂
@@sofluid Is that a Rolex? No it's a Tudor. Oh wtf is Two door? So it goes below Breitling for sure and Panerai 😄

1. Patek Philippe
2. Jaeger-LeCoultre
3. Rolex
4. Omega
5. IWC
6. Panerai
7. Cartier
8. Breitling
9. Tudor
10. TAG Heuer
11. Audemars Piguet
12. Hublot
Badly missing:
A. Lange & Söhne, Breguet, Piaget
Why JLC? their watches are super ugly and boring
@@aspOLmeR I see super refined designs, paired with exceptional quality, innovation history, and stealth elegance. But I guess it's all subjective.
❤ Happy Birthday Watchfinder.
Quality is all; and you’re helping so many of us have some fun, some access and feeding our gossip needs. Long may you continue.
My 1st Swiss watch my father gifted me a TAG when I was in the 6th grade so they hold a special place in my heart glad to see them up there on list
I feel you. Tag is a watch that those outside the watch world seem to know and the introduction for many into the world of "luxury" watches. I've got a soft spot for them as well. Happily wear my Monza in regular rotation.
Love where you all fit AP on this list, great channel, great content!
I think putting it below Panerai is just being disingenuous, which had all the scandals like putting a stock ETA movement in their brooklyn bridge limited edition model, or claiming their movements are in house when they are not.
Peace! This was a dope segment! Kudos fellas! Out from NY…
“The Joey of the Royal Oak.”😂😂😂
Love it or hate it. Number one and number 2 seem to be very straight forward. I would put Omega in third.
Need a slightly longer list with blancpain and breguet in.. would be interesting to see where you see those fit today.
Based on 5 years of watching RUclips watch videos:
12. Hublot
11. Tag Heuer
10. Panerai
9. IWC
8. Breitling
7. Tudor
6. Omega
5. Cartier
4. AP
3. Rolex
2. Jaeger-LeCoultre
1. Patek
Omega definitely above Cartier
Why JLC? their watches are super ugly and boring
@@aspOLmeR oh on the contrary they're classics.
JLC make very fine watches. Rolex is the worst actually.. they're over hyped for what they really are.
where ALS at bois?
I pretty much agree with the ranking allthough somehow in my ranking H. Moser and Vacheron Constantin shared rank 1. Wonder where they would have gone if they were considered as well.
You have to be a real watch nerd to have heard of H. Moser, this list is for the wannabe watch people who have their names on Rolex waiting lists
Out of the brands listed, right now I'd rank;
PP
Omega
JLC
Cartier
Tudor
Rolex
IWC
Breitling
AP
Panerai
Tag Heuer
Hublot
Love this Channel pure class! 💯
Really under estimate Breitling in my opinion. They are coming back strong and need to be noticed.
This is a fun game! My personal ranking of these:
Patek
Rolex
Cartier
JLC
Omega
IWC
Breitling
Audemars Piguet
Tudor
Panerai
Hublot
TAG Heuer
In my opinion, you forgot just the best one : Vacheron Constantin.
Quality : Top.
Hits : Overseas, Patrimony, Metiers d'Art, etc ...
History : Founded in 1775.
Value : As quality, top.
Perhaps street cred is not at its best, but is that so important.
Thank you for this 😂😁 definitely made my day!
As always top notch content -among my favorite watch RUclips channels - Vacheron however has to be on the list and Hublot not so much
Thank you for one of the most professional sites there are.
- 1 year = giving it a try
- 3 years = giving it a solid try but getting tired to stay on top of the game
- 5 years = solid performance with any kind of personal reasons to end it
- 10 years = the topic got old, changed family plans changing interests from viewers or makers
- 20 years = You must have made so many things right, that with the same effort its up to you whether you reach the 100 years.
Thank you for doing so many things right, and entertaining and fresh and solid and constrictive and fascinating and ... and ... and ...
Where would you place Nomos?
Loved this list as it stands...except I would put Rolex below JLC..I hate the look of AP so that was fine..IWC and Omega stand about the same for turning my mechanical love on...lol...thanks guys for a great entertaining vid!!!! Would love a similar video on micro brands....just saying...
Love this video. Omega, JLC, IWC are my fav brands
I trust my $ with Omega. A+ quality and technology, with a bit of style.
how about Grand Seiko? I know it is not well known as these brands, but their quality is amazing.
Seiko spends more money on their watches !, the other watch companies spend most of their money on advertising!, and it’s so easy to Fact check !.
This is the best, most hilarious, most accurate watch ranking video on the internet. Accurate in that such an endeavor it a waste of time. Well done, gentlemen
I agree with you about JLC. I have one and thinking about another. I was a bit surprised about where you ranking. AP. I don't own one and it's not something on my radar, but it's a very nice brand. I'd put it up there either Omega and Rolex.
I agree almost completely with this list, other than the placing of Tag Heuer. IMHO it should either sit just above or below IWC's ranking. Aside from that, thanks for the great content 👍
Hublot?! Hublot! Wow! No SEIKO in sight?! This should be a list of expensive watch brands and not the best.
I have similar feeling on Brietling. They’re a solid watch with a good history… but they just don’t do it for me aesthetically. It’s weird because objectively they’re fine but I don’t buy watches purely objectively.
Needed a criteria for Accessibility i.e if you have the RRP can you walk into an AD and buy it. That would have thrown some spice in the rankings.
AP at second-last spot ??!
Well that's OK, considering it's your 20th anniversary and the "high" of the the revelry might still be lingering 😁
Really like your relaxed style.. keep up the good work. CHEERS and Happy Anniversary!
I like JLC because their movements are world renowned with some of the most interesting and unique complications anywhere. For all you get with a JLC relative to their price point, you're getting a lot of value. I wouldn't be surprised to see the brand see a jump in demand.
Fun exercise! Would love to see a review of non-European-based watch brands!
This was pure joy to listen to, thanks guys!
Great video! And very nice to see a list where JLC gets a top spot as deserved.
Waste of time is correct 😂 Entertaining as always but BOY do I have some choice words for this list haha. Also I believe ALS, GS and VC deserve to be in the discussion as well
A. Lange & Söhne?
😢
I can’t believe Grand Seiko wasn’t even mentioned 😑
I thought this was serious before realizing where you put AP… just Rolex and PP might be over it.
Where are Vacheron Constantin and A Lange & Sohne?
This is your best "podcast" so far. Congratulations!
Where do you put grand seiko?
TAG Heuer makes really nice watches! TAG is so underrated, and by all accounts should be higher regarded than they are! Hopefully they can shake the reputation that’s been haunting them for years.
Pretty much agree but would have put Omega higher- excellent often visible movements, great hits, great street cred, good value, unbelievable history- objectively beating Rolex to the moon, I could go on and on...
No grand seiko? Wtf
What about Nomos, A. Lange & Söhne, Sinn, Glashutte Original, Girard Perregaux, Grand Seiko, and Oris???
Great video guys, love the accents. The one guy sounds so much like Cary Grant.
I am a little surprised that Vacheron is not on the list, but I would guess that they would rank just below AP. There is a lot of history in VC though.
You were very generous to Panerai and Tag...but I enjoyed this. 🙂
Whenever I'm listening to you two I'm just thinking, is this some long awaited spin-off of the Adam and Joe podcast.
Hahahaha let’s wait for one of them to yell Stephen!!!!
Very good !
Couldn't agree more with the ranking for JLC, amazing watches and love that they are under the radar.
It’s probably the only brand that you can get under msrp that punches way above its weight, and is highly respected in the watch communities.
Patek top, then A Lange And Sohne, then JP Journe, then Omega, then Rolex, then AP, then VC, then Longines, then JLC, then Breuget at no 10.
As someone who has 2 AP’s, I’d still put them second to last.
Product, amazing. Value, meh. History. Yep.
Customer experience. God awful.
They beat Rolex for that whole ‘ha, you want to be a customer of OURS. Stop stealing my oxygen, pesant’ vibe.
Well I am disappointed to hear that is the case. Who woulda thunk it; someone worse that Rolex in that department?! I am slightly deterred now hehe.
There were some brands im shock didn’t make it but I assume this is the ones you wanted on list…. VC, Breguet, Glashutte, A.Lange&Sohne, even Zenith…
AP at second from the bottom is completely nuts, but I love it. If it’s not the jumbo, it’s a quality Hublot.
I think the ranking is Stellar, should have had Vacheron in the mix instead of Hublot.
I have noticed that on these watch ranking videos, Vacheron either scores low or doesn't make the list. I am curious why is that?
Here to learn. Thanks
I would’ve went:
1. Rolex
2. Patek
3. Omega
4. JLC
5. Cartier
6. AP
7. IWC
8. Breitling
9. Tudor
10. TAG
11. Panerai
Hublot shouldn’t be on any list lol
Yup. I would personally put Omega above Patek, but otherwise I completely agree with this list.
I would personally put Cartier 3rd on that list, but otherwise I agree with virtually all of it.
Yeah, Tudor is definitely better than Panerai.
Omega over JLC? No, they can’t compete in a watchmaker level. They can make a good watch but not even near the amount of impact they made for the overall the watch industry. Above Rolex, yes, now we are talking.
Personally would have switched Breitling with Tudor for myself personally but largely agree
“That guy slide rules…” 😂😂😂
The disrespect shown to Audemars Piguet! Considering they came up with the first steel luxury sports watch in history... Pretty laughable placing Tag Heuer, Cartier and Tudor above them.
@@akeyasa2228 I agree that they rely excessively on the royal oak and are certainly inferior to the likes of Patek, Lange and JLC. Surely though the heritage, history and quality of watchmaking/finishing is enough to warrant a ranking higher than Tag Heuer.
congrats on the anniversary, to many more!
had a good chuckle when you ranked rolex
do agree with the rest of the list tho
just missing A. Lange & Sohne somewhere near the top
TAG above AP!? 🤦🏻♂️😂
Tudor should be higher too imho
Ps. I know it’s a bit of fun 👍🏻
1 Patek Philippe
2 Jaeger leCoultre
3 Rolex
4 Omega
5 Cartier
6 Audemars Piguet
7 IWC
8 Tag Heuer
9 Breitling
10 Tudor
11 Panerai
12 Hublot
Your list and ranking is pretty straight forward. Might argue about the order, but not the 12 brands who made it on there. I would have been more curious to see what your take on the rest of the top 20 brands are- Vacheron, Hermes, Chopard, Bulgari, Blancpain, Breguet, Piaget, Rado, Frank Muller, Montblanc, Frederique Constant, Zenith, Harry Winston, Roger Dubois, Baume & Mercier, etc.. Would have been really interesting to see the ranking and who would be ranked. Maybe another video on the top 25 swiss brands, starting from 13th onwards.
totally agree about the lack of Piaget, Vacheron, breguet, blancpain and zenith on their list, what a bunch of trolls those 2, it became clear they are trolling when they put hublot on the list but none of the above.
You have Frédéric Constant on a list that's missing Longines. Must be an imperfect list.
@@shuycg You have to go by the site. Richard Mille isnt even ranked for the same reason. Whats popular is whats popular, whats available is whats available. It is what it is.
Get rid of Tag. Other than the Monaco Calibre 11, they are nothing.
Hermes?
I didn’t know watch buying could be so funny. Thanks for another great video
Thanks for the 20min entertainment , it was very enjoyable 🤣😂❤️
