Those used Toro’s were selling pretty high back then. He was happy with it and even commented on this video. Hopefully it’s still working well for him!
I have the 4225 I bought in 2014 new and it's the best mower I ever had, Still use it every week and the only thing I had to do is reseal the valve covers that are a factory defect on the 22hp Kohler engine
Yeah, there are a lot of factors for sure, location, time of year, and how long you are willing to hold on to it. For me, I’m willing to wait a week or two and get a higher price than I could get if I wanted it gone in a weekend.
If you can get $1850 for it and put in $300, go for it! Tires should match. The circumference probably differs by 1"-2". What year? Any idea on the number of hours estimated usage? See if you can get the tracking equalized when putting back wheels up on jack stands and put power brakes in neutral position. Neither should move. One thing I did with my Toro SS4235 was to coat the discharge cap on the mulcher assembly with Line-x to strengthen the part to deflect rocks better. $20.
I found a mx4250 with a fabricated deck for $500. The guy who sold it to me thought it needed rings. In reality it was just a fuel pump. The oil was so thin it was like water and smelled of fuel. Outside of that it had quite a few minor issues caused by bad repairs. I put $150 into it and it runs great.
@@garagestory I originally bought it because I thought I could get the deck to fit on my ss4225 that had a bad deck. Fortunately for me I could get the MX4250 running. It’s a nicer machine all around. Stronger engine, better ride, stronger deck, etc.
It probably would have been more solid, but there were 3 issues: 1) my rivets weren’t long enough (I know I could have bought more, but that’s more time) 2) grass would probably get hung up in the repair and start blocking things 3) a rivet job would not look as nice as a new one. And aesthetics can help sell…
Would be interesting to know how much time, fuel (driving to and from) to pick it up, and money total you spent on it. Your time is the biggest cost, which a lot of the time people don’t factor in when buying and selling.
Those are great questions! And I do think they get overlooked. In terms of amount of time spent, this was probably one of the best flips I’ve done. It’s easy (at least for me!) for things to take wayyyy longer than hoped for. Maybe other mower guys out there are better than me…lol.
I have the same ss4235. for the life of me i cant find a bagger system that i can verify if there is a bagger system for it... Do you have any idea of one that will work?
I don’t know much about baggers for these, unfortunately. I do have a 38” cut that came with one, but I don’t know if that’s what the 42” mowers would use.
Great video! I have a Timecutter 4235 as well. Curious where/how you source parts for it? I can find some generic stuff from Amazon, but other parts seem a little harder to find. Any website/best practices? Also, what did you say you sealed that valve with? RTB? TY in advance!
Hello, thanks for watching! I usually buy parts from Amazon or eBay. If they don’t have what I need, then I typically just go with whatever place seems to have what I need at the best value. I think I used Permatex black RTV for sealing the valve cover.
Where are you located? My dad bought a timecutter 4200. For $1100 and the one side pulls harder than the other side and I cannot get it adjusted. Does it need another transmission ? The repair shop wanted a $1000 to fix it. I said that is crazy.
That’s getting out of my league- I haven’t really messed with zero turn transmissions much. For that price, I’m thinking they are talking about just replacing it with a new transmission.
I have a toro z4200 19hp that I put a new battery and starter and gas line and I just cleaned the carburetor so it starts and runs and cuts good how much would it be worth I’m in flordia
No way he shpuld have paid 2000.00 for that mower. Ifbhe sees your vehicle he will be pissed off that you only paid a grand for it but flipped it for twice the money. There is idiots nirn every day who are crazy enough to pay that much fir that old mower. This is why i am very leary of buying used power equipment. Unless it inly has very low hours on the hour meter and the mower is only a couple of years old.
I told him what was going on and he commented a long time ago on the video- he seemed pretty happy with his purchase. It’s supply and demand, at that time mowers were selling well. This year not so much…
That’s crazy 2000, man could have dropped another 1000 and got a brand new one at Lowe’s. Good for you, you definitely GOT HIM.

Not crazy at all! Looks like it was a good flip! 👍🏻👍🏻
😁
Agreed! :)

where I live for 42" zero turn mower in that condition the most I could get is around $1300 great video keep them coming.

That’s a good tip to coat the discharge!
I’m not really sure the age or hours on this one. I’d guess it was maybe a 2012-2015?
You've gone crazy!!! Haha, just kidding; glad it worked out well for you!!
😁😁

Great deal!! I’ve heard the toro decks can break, so having the fabricated one is a good upgrade. I’d be curious to try one myself

Nice job man. Good for you. I like your video.
Thank you!
Great video Best Buy I’ve made thanks
Thanks!
Low range for towing (yard trailer, fertilizer spreader, aerator, etc)
Awesome video 👍
Thanks!
I thought you were doing great with the metal and the rivets.Way better with the new chute.

I couldn’t really say. Around here, when spring hits, you could probably get $1,500-$2,000 if it’s nice. But I’m not sure about Florida.
Good price.
Thanks!
I just got one but the seat needs repair
Seats are expensive, unfortunately
Not crazy.... Clean her up, fix the seat, check into stuff on it, and switch the tire, you can clean up 1800 again.
Oh yeah!!!
@@garagestory I use the right stuff to glue seats back to their frame.
Do you have a link to it?
@@garagestory apply it, let it set up for about 10 minutes, then clamp it down the best way you can.
What you think it's yours you bought it you the RUclipsr
I bought it for $1,000 and sold it a few weeks later
It’s worth 1500 as is. I wouldn’t put anything in it. Just list it and sit on it
Leave the tires, glue the seat. See what the buyers say.
Yeah, but the tires bugged me…. Maybe next time.😁
@@garagestory well done! Great video!
Thank you!
$400 for a new seat from Toro. Just an FYI
Seats are way too expensive!

liuks ,molodiec
Just fix the seat
Where? That,s really a low price.
Good ‘ole Oklahoma!
maybe a little to much
This is why you can't trust these sellers
What is?
