    My husband bought one of these for my birthday when they first came out. We had an acre property back then and it was a definite Godsend. My Mom (She’s in Heaven now) used to watch me use it and always loved the giant grin on my face from riding it. She had never seen anyone who loved mowing the yard the way I did!
    We moved after she passed and purchased a smaller property, so it was time to sell my beautiful machine. Well, we’ve moved to Florida and have a larger property again, so needless to say, we bought another TimeCutter!! I’m breaking it in today and can’t wait to get started, 😁

    I have a Toro steering wheel zero turn. I like the fact I can pull a 25 gallon tank sprayer and spray along a fence, turn and pull away. With the lever type zero turn because of the way the back end swings around. When you try to turn it drives the sprayer into the fence. Bring back the steering wheel.

    • @mainstreetmower
      @mainstreetmower  8 месяцев назад

      It might be a little frustrating specially if you're used to the older style steering wheel handles but that's only until you get used to the newer levers. They add so much more maneuverability to your mower it's really helpful for tricky yard work.

      A lot of people lift the front real high with a chain hoist or an engine hoist. Just use HD nylon straps looped around the front wheel outriggers and hoist it up. It's a good idea to use jack stands or cribbing as a safety backup. It's really fast with a battery or air impact gun!

    I was trying to figure out if I was supposed to use half or full throttle before engaging blades and a couple video I saw them saying to engage at full throttle to avoid wearing out belts and clutch and that didn't make sense to me.
    I drive big trucks with 18 speeds and of course you don't let the clutch out at high rpm's as it wears out the clutch right!?! So I kept looking to make sure. Thankfully you confirmed my suspicions.
    I am buying a 2023 Timecutter 54" deck with the series 7000 Kohler engine and MyRide suspension system very soon and wanted to know my facts before hand.

    Question about deck height. I was at a local dealer when a man was saying his MyRide 50" deck at the 4" setting measured only 3.5" at the blades from ground to cut part of the blades. Another man spoke up and said he's measured only 3" at the 4" setting. The dealer said he didn't know of any problems like that. At that time, I left the store. Got home and looked that problem up on Toro website nothing but sure enough on youtube a guy showed the setting 4" at handle 3.5" at blades. Is this a problem and if so, what is the fix. Better yet does Toro know about the and not saying anything. Have you folks seemed this problem if so, what was your fix.

      We agree, all the accessories would be nice, but from the manufacturers perspective a majority of the market is shopping on price. And adding features would increase manufacturing cost. By providing accessories, customers can add on what’s important to them.

      It’ll mow 5 acres, it will just take a long time. The hours mowing each week will add up. With a wider swath you could cut your mowing time in half and get twice the life from your mower.

    Wrong Buffalo! Manual clearly says to engage blades at full throttle. Doing so ensures you do not bog the engine and clutch engages in tje quickest time possible and does not "ride" the clutch. Additionally, engine should "always" be run at full throttle to prevent lugging the engine and to ensure maximum cooling from the built-in fan. Consequently, engine should be shut down under full throttle to burn off any fuel in the intake manifold and to ensure proper closing of the fuel shutoff servo.

    • @fonz1116
      @fonz1116 Год назад +2

      Yes my manual says the same thing the only time you should be at a lower throttle is when you start the manual says start at half throttle for 5 min to warm up before you put under load

    • @williamnewsome5169
      @williamnewsome5169 Год назад +1

      @@fonz1116 Interesting. My Toro manual shows pictures and text instructing to start, run and shutoff at full throttle. For this reason my throttle has never moved from the full throttle position since purchasing 548 hours ago. Engine and mower in general (MX5050 74770), has been trouble free and flawless during last 8 years of ownership.

    • @GregoryBenson-d2c
      @GregoryBenson-d2c 27 дней назад

      I own a model 75742. If you shut down the motor at full throttle the extra gas in the cylinders will wash down into your crankcase. Your oil will smell like gasoline. If you are smart you will idle down the motor for a minute, then shut off the engine. Idling down will give the cylinders a chance to cool down.

    • @williamnewsome5169
      @williamnewsome5169 27 дней назад

      @@GregoryBenson-d2c If it has the Kohler 7000 series engine, carburetor should be outfitted with a fuel shutoff valve/servo that shuts the flow of fuel as as soon as the ignition is turned off. Running at a higher RPM (in my case wide open) ensures a tight seal of the fuel shutoff needle/plumger due to increased engine vacuum and the spring action of the shut off valve pulling the needle tightly into the fuel jet. What you are experiencing, could be questionable rings and their sealing ability (any oil use between changed), however all combustion engines experience some degree of blow-by gases. While these are typically routed back to the air box to be re-burmed, they can affect the way your oil smells. Typically, go by what is specified in your owners manual and you should be okay (sounds like you are). In the end, probably not going to ruin your mower one way or the other. note: My oil never smells like gasoline, engine never uses oil even at 600 hours however, I have slways changed my oil at 25 hours using Mobil 1 10w30 and not the Kohler recommended 100 hour change interval. If I used a longer interval, it's quite possible my oil would take on a gasoline smell. Take care...
