Glad you have that perspective. I agree - I'd rather see a review from a REAL owner, with actual seat time - than someone who just does reviews and has very little experience with the equipment.
I haven't had much luck with mine only a little over a year and both drives are worn out and need to be replaced thankfully under warranty. But not sure if I'd buy one again even after toro saying I should upgrade my mower cause they think it not enough mower for my 3 acres even though it's recommended for up to 4 acres but offered no help on getting a upgrade after only a year

I have Toro 75740 42" Time Cutter mower. I have also had it for three years. The mower is unbelievable. Every time I mow I have to look at what a great job it did. I am satisfied with my Toro and the job it does. Last summer I spent with my son in southern Indiana. I took my mower with me to help him mow his lawn and his sisters lawn next door to him. I mowed both of their yards a total of 5 acres with no trouble at all. The mower is rated at two acres. My next mower will be a Toro brand. I like your video and your yard.
I use the timecutter on my farm. It is very durable. After 300 hours still no issues at all. You sacrifice some features and power for the price but it is still a solid mower.
I bought my 1st zero-turn this year…. Toro timecutter 42” I’ve used it several times now and is a pleasure to drive.. very comfortable and cuts beautifully, even if cutting fast. Highly recommend. 👍
Absolutely our experience, too. Great cut and really a nice running machine. It doesn't take nearly as long as I thought it would to learn how to drive it. Thanks for watching and leaving the comment!
@@paulie0706 I have the 42" Timecutter and use it often in my business. Coming up on 2 years of ownership. Deck size is good for medium sized properties, if you're going to be doing a couple acres I'd go with a bigger deck. 42" is nice for residential properties that might have more tight spaces. I have the stamped deck and this mower cuts and stripes fantastically, I'm impressed for a residential grade mower.
@@juanvelasquez7870 Definitely. I went a few years in my business with just a 21" Honda and buying this zero turn has probably been one of my best purchases yet. Can cut lawns in a 1/3rd of the time and can now take on more customers who have larger yards too. Haven't had a single issue with it mechanically yet either
I bought a new Toro Timecutter 50 inch cut back in the spring of 2007 ,, I have put it through some pretty rough stuff over the last 17 years and it's still going strong ,,, I have now bought a larger piece of land and cutting 4 times as much ,,, I have sold the Timecutter now and it's time for a bigger one ,, I am leaning toward the Toro Titan Max ,,,, For my money ,, TORO is the mower I will be buying
The Titan MAX does look like an impressive machine! And I love those more aggressive rear tires. I do tend to spin these rears in wet grass or a little slippery mud.
Thanks for letting us know! Our only issue has been the front dolly wheels going flat due to all the thorn trees we have around. I have a lot of plugs in them. :)
I love the MyRide system! I use my Toro 48" Timecutter 5000 to help mow 45 acres at my antique tractor club in Penfield Illinois. I mow close to the buildings and the other 9 guys with larger mowers mow the large open acreage every Friday at 7:30am. Takes us 4 hours. Then I come home and mow three 1/4 acre yards with it. Things I make sure of before I mow...sharp or new blades, tires inflated to 16psi front and 22 psi rear. The front tires are hard to put air in so I am switching to solid rubber tires when the mower goes in for post season maintenance. Slime in all the tires has helped maintain the PSI at the same level each week. One thing I wish it would do, fold up the mower deck so I don't have to lay on the floor to change blades. I have the Toro Jack that attaches to the front, but it just doesn't go high enough!
Wow -45 acres! That's a big yard to mow!! :) You're right about those front tires - they are difficult to air up. How many hours do you have on your machine now? Seems like it gets a nice workout every week.
I have ordered a 50” Timecutter. It should be arriving at my dealer soon. I have around 2 acres that I have been mowing with an older John Deere 42” 110 series. The John Deere is getting a little tired, and I’m hoping the Timecutter, will do just that, cut my time. I was on the fence about the Myride system, and opted not to go with it. It’s good to see that after 3 years you are still happy with your Timecutter. This will be my first zero turn, and my first time driving one. Great videos, I used them as part of my research, and I learned a lot from them.
Thanks for using our videos to help make a decision! We're very happy with the TIMECUTTER after 3 years. I can't imagine going back to a traditional riding mower.
I bought mine (the same mower) in April 2020 and didn't know how to operate it. In fact, in the first 15 min, I ran over and cut off three plants in my wife's garden, hit my pump casing and broke off the mower shute, and bent all 3 blades. LOL. Since then I have learned to cut efficiently and it only takes me 2 hours to mow all my grass, before with my old Craftsman tractor it took 2 days to mow everything. I installed the 6-blade kit where the top blades are mulchers and the bottom are heavier (not Toro) blades. The action of cutting and mulching gave me excellent results on my grass. It gets great gas mileage too. It has a little over 100 hours on it now. The only thing I would do differently now if I were to buy it again is to spend the extra money for the "my ride" option. It would be a little easier on my back.
I ve got Toro Timecutter SS 5000 had it since May 2016. Got about 500 hours just replaced the battery last spring and the blades last year that's it. Mine has 23 hp Kawasaki engine
I drilled some 1/2" holes in the sides of my pulley covers so I can use an air hose with a blow gun to clean them out. It works great ! You'd be surprised how much grass blows out of them.

Been doing a ton of research on what mower to buy and have been leaning toward the timecutter, thanks for this video! Also, the shirt is the most underrated part of this review. 😂
Im in research right now what to buy. My top two is toro and bad boy. Once you did a lot of research maybe you can help me. I love 42 toro but it comes with 2100 Trans, bad boy have 2200
@@marekkrepa9982 I prefer the Toro for a few reasons: 1. Speed control 2. Local dealership that can service it. We have a dealership not far from us that can service the Toro if something comes up that I’m not sure about. They don’t service Bad Boy mowers, and the other stores that sell the Bad Boy mowers around us don’t do any service.
@@PurpleCollarLife really don't care about service. Always fixing by myself. Brand is only frame and deck. They all use three major engines same transmission, clutch, even spindols. Its like fixing washing machine [no matter if it's kenmore, ge, or maytag] parts inside are the same. Once again toro looks super but l still thinking about 2100 and 2200 transmission difrentses
Love love love my 2020 Toro 42". When stock blades wore out I replaced them with high quality mulching blades ....and WOW does it make the lawn look great!!! Chews up the cut grass to near sawdust consistency. Love it
Do you have the mulching kit, or are you using mulch blades with side discharge open? I’m about to get myself a 42” Timecutter with the fabricated deck.
Had mine for a little while now. I got the 50”. It’s a pretty good mower. Cons I got are single gas tank, and the deck doesn’t lift up very high. Probably doesn’t matter for most people, but loading it on a trailer for me is a pain. Also back tires are a little tiny for rough yards. Lot of power tho, also, the deck is great for thick wet long grass. The deck under the chute is cut away, so the blade is exposed if the plastic guard is up. Kinda spooky, but man does that thing fly out grass like no other mower I ever used. And I’ve used a lot of commercial mowers.
Thanks for sharing the experience you've had with your 50-inch deck version of the TIMECUTTER. We've been happy with ours. You're right - a larger gas tank would be nice.
@@PurpleCollarLife yeah most zero turns I’ve used have a gas tank on either side. Which is a great feature, when you run out of gas you just switch tanks and then you know you have to fill up. Instead of being stranded in the middle of your yard.
So I just picked up a new time cutter 50inch fab deck , my ride , Kawasaki engine 4.8k out the door. I think they’ve been listening to the consumer because they made some changes like the oil frail you get a clear tube with the owners manual and you insert it to a hole and turn a screw. Oh and my tires are different they look like the titan ones that you showed and it came stock. Great video and man I think my ride may be worth those 10 inches because it is heaven sent.
Toro 528d here, kubota diesel with a flail mower. County auction, 300 hours, non runner- $600. one bad wire and its up and running. Mow several several miles of mountain road annually. This might be my next if that one ever dies. Beautiful machines, both. Buy TORO!
What a great find! A $600 bargain for sure - Kubota diesel engine and 300 hours - that's amazing. I'm glad you were able to troubleshoot and find that bad wire. Did you have an idea what the issue was before you took the chance on it?
Great review! You mentioned considering going up to the Toro Titan Max Myride, but didn’t know if you needed that much mower. There is another option - the Titan MyRide (not the Max). The Titan MyRide has the aggressive rear tire tread, but it’s 22” diameter x 11 wide vs 23”x12” on the Max. There are very few other differences between them otherwise.
I got my timecutter 42” ironforge deck zero turn last week and mowed my half acre lawn first time today. I really like it even though I am learning how to drive it. I did 4” cut and will cut it again to 3” in a couple of days. What mowing height do you set to? While waiting for my mower to arrive, I watched several of your videos and learned a lot from you. Thank you.
That is awesome! I set it at 3.5" when we're mowing as part of our small lawncare business. When I mow at home, I set it to 4 inches. You're going to love having the Timecutter! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
Always mow your grass as tall as you can. The tall grass makes it harder for weed seeds to get to the dirt, and it chokes out the weeds. Tall grass also keeps the dirt more moist at the base of the grass as it shades the dirt from the sun. Its also better to cut smaller amounts off the grass more often than letting it grow alot and then cutting it. It can shock your grass when you cut it less often...
Delivered a nice even cut, has the super tight turning ability ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend I was looking for, and is just a blast to drive. It takes a little bit to get used to driving one after driving a normal tractor style, but once you've got it, you've got it. If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!
Keep in mind Zero turns have 1/2 the towing capacity a riding mower does and are horrible to back up with a trailer, they are also heavier so they sink in more on saturated lawns.. Also Zero turns have two transmissions and many of them are non serviceable possibly making the cost of repair more than what the mower is worth, unless you purchase a commercial grade zero turn their transmissions are serviceable by the owner. However they cut grass better than any Riding mower, just a few things to think about from a small engine repair guy. Way your options out, I know at our shop customers want zero turns but sometimes a riding mower is the better option for your use. If you do allot of gardening and light weight hauling a riding mower is better for you. If you are only cutting grass a zero Turn is the way to go and Toro makes great mowers we rarely see them in the shop, if we do it's usually because the owner has us do the yearly maintenance.
Great video, I am looking at the 60" deck for the time cutter. My question is how wide is the deck with the chute pulled up with the bungee cord? My shed has a 64" opening and was not sure if it would fit in my shed
Great question. I grabbed a tape and measured it - I get 61 1/2 inches. You should be able to make it. It JUST fits through the ramp door on our 6x12 enclosed trailer (with the chute up). ruclips.net/video/D58lFsquRS8/видео.html
My time cutter is a 2018 . I brought it new. First year I had lots of trouble with it . Toro wouldn’t fix it called the CEO and just got a lot of lip service . When the warranty ran out I had a auto mechanic fix it . Cost me about 400 bucks . Needed a coil and new PTO switch . Now I really like it . Just keep in mind toro will not help you . 😤
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. We haven’t had any trouble with ours - but I can certainly see how that would be frustrating. It’s amazing that you were able to get the CEO on the phone with you when dealing with a company that size. That’s pretty unusual I would think. I’m glad to hear that the Timecutter is working better after the replacement coil and PTO switch.
Wow - that's disappointing to hear. I think we're at 125 hours now on ours. No issues with our spindles so far. I think you can get greaseable spindles when you replace them. But I'm not 100% sure on that.
In the 3 years you've had the mower, did you have to sharpen or change the blades. I just got a 75755 50" Time cutter w/v-twin toro engines so was wondering if I would need to change the blades after a while.
So far, I’ve never removed or sharpened the blades. It still cuts like it did new. I am very careful though to do my best to not run over any rocks, sticks, or roots that would damage/dull the blades.
@@bitoflearning1287 Just oil changes and some tire plugs in the front tires. I've blown out the air filter a time or two (wasn't very dirty at all) and I do take a look at the fuel filter (it's clear and you can do a visual inspection) every season. I also just replaced the battery in this video. ruclips.net/video/_av4ZPfV_5Y/видео.html Other than that - it's always worked great. I've never replaced the spark plugs.
@@PurpleCollarLife Thanks for your quick response, went through a few of your other videos, and I have been putting shell gas, but it seems I shouldn't be using 15% ethanol but rather 10% or none at all. You mentioned you wouldn't be using gas with no ethanol but that is too expensive at almost $30/gallon, so I was just wondering what gas you were using. I'm in the Maryland area but I doubt the ethanol free gas is all that much different where you stay. Again, thanks for your responses and time, they are very helpful and as a first time riding mower enthusiast I'm still learning the ropes.
@@bitoflearning1287 No problem! I'm glad our videos are helpful. We run 0% ethanol in our mowers. Around here (western PA), it's available at some gas stations. We pay about $1.00 per gallon for it more than the going price for regular unleaded. For example, 87 octane regular gas is currently about $3.65 per gallon here, and has up to 10% ethanol. We buy the ethanol-free gasoline for about $4.50 per gallon right now. If it cost us $30.00 per gallon - I don't think we'd be able to afford to mow! :)
Bigtoolrack actually makes a nice rack - but it goes on zero turn mowers that have the ROPS system. Our zero turn doesn't have any supports anywhere behind the seat to attach it to. But I probably could rig something up that mounts to the protective metal around the engine. Good idea!
Hi, I have a 50-inch Toro time cutter and I called the dealer & the toro 1800 #s and the required PSI I get are all over the map... would you know what the tire pressure should be in the front and back tires? Thanks!
Thanks for watching. In your instruction manual, it should tell you the belt part number for replacement. I think it may also be on a sticker on the deck. I wouldn't want to give you the part number for mine and it not work on yours. I'm not sure if that belt stayed the same for all Toro Timecutter 60" fabricated deck years.
It’s definitely a skill that takes time to perfect - getting the perfect angle on the blade to be sharp like new. I usually use a bench grinder and set the stop so that I’m only grinding down the top of the blade, at the angle that matches the original cut angle on the metal.
Great question. I know some people who wash the machine after every use - and it still looks new for decades. I don't do that. I just don't have the time. But at the same time, when I do give it a good bath, it still looks like new without all the dirt and grass on it.
That is normal on a slight grade. One side will need more forward momentum to keep the zero turn going straight on the grade (it wants to naturally go downhill on the easy side). But if it’s doing this on a flat surface, There is a way to adjust this. The lap bars sometimes need to be adjusted so that both drive wheels move at the same speed when you have both lap bars fully pressed forward.
I just bought a 34 in Timecutter 34 inch 22 hp kohler engine and I've noticed that it's a gas guzzler. Beautiful machine, but should I have it checked out. Someone help please.
I will say that our TIMECUTTER uses WAY more gas than I was used to prior to this zero turn. But I also never used a zero turn before. It mows MUCH faster than previous tractors I've used. I mention in the video about mowing 5 acres that I uses quite a bit of gasoline. I think that must be normal for these machines. ruclips.net/video/i9_euZxSHI4/видео.html
I don’t think you needed to mow. Guys, the taller your grass is, the deeper the roots can go. That’s just basic for grass and all plants. Zero turns are finish mowers not bush hogs so you can’t let your grass get 2-3’ tall. Not even 8-10”. But I think grass ie cool season grasses or pasture grasses like Orchard grass, clover I would keep it at 3” . Your grass would be much nicer if you let it get higher and and .. have it tested through your local extension agency. It runs $9-12 per sample you send in. You get the kit from extension service at your county office. Call first to make sure they have the kits. Your state agricultural college does the tests. They analyze the soil and determine the NPK and what’s most important is the right pH ie calcium and magnesium it needs ie regular lime or dolomite lime which has calcium and magnesium. Proper liming not too much, not too little - makes a huge difference in lawn quality and can save a lot of money on fertilizer and seed. Also seeding some clover in will help too as it makes its own nitrogen. You can read all about that ie clover benefits. Might suggest planting some daylilies around Al the trees. They will crowd out weeds and you don’t have to get so close as to damage the trees hitting it with the deck and eventually killing them. The daylilies add a lush colorful look too. I recommend Oaks Daylilies for the best on the market for online ordering and have been around for 60-70 years and have the biggest clumps offered. You have to order like now for fall planting. Hyperion is one of my old time favorites, far carrying lemon scented, tall and a light yellow yellow. I don’t have a zero turn but are those front dolly wheels
That's a great question. Sounds like maybe a short somewhere (key switch?). Maybe the battery isn't charging when you're running it? I'd be curious if you put a meter on the battery while the engine is running if it shows that it's charging.
I changed the key switch battery selinod. And wires to the selinod. And wire to starter. Still just clicks unless I have jumper cables to get it started
I think the specs are correct on the Toro website. 13 in. x 6.5 in. (33 cm x 16.5 cm) Front, 20 in. x 10 in. (50.8 cm x 25.4 cm) Rear www.toro.com/en/product/75760
I HATE my Toro Timecutter 5000!! It’s cut quality is TERRIBLE!! I have tried Cooperhead blades,Gator blades, mulching blades, high lift blades, medium Lift blades and IM SO SICK OF IT!!! I’m scared to buy another Toro BUT I’m almost willing to buy this machine!
We haven't had that experience with ours. We do only run Ethanol free gasoline. I'm not sure if that makes a difference. But we've had nothing but good experiences with ours. (other than it does use a lot of gasoline)
Absolute biggest piles of trash on the market...drive pulley came apart at 6 months....blades dull after second mowing...fuel gauge quit working and had to replace solenoid at 6 months....forgot to mention right off the bat the rear tire decided to have a warp in it ....buy something else ...they cut like crap with new blades on them also...came cutting like crap....dont take my word for it...buy one and find out for yourself
Like I mentioned on the other video comment - that hasn’t been our experience with our Timecutter. Did you get that drive pulley replaced under warranty? Do you have a different fuel gage than I showed on our videos? ours is the cutout window with visibility into the fuel tank. Ours still works great in our 5th summer.
Two months after the 2 years warranty was expired our 54” Toro Timecutter started to have a lot of electrical issues. The both handles censors, the brakes module control system, the machine is OFF and it still hear clicking on & off draining then battery🪫down.

Love it
That’s great! What brand are the blades?
Thanks for letting us know! Those more aggressive tires should do much better. These ones have some difficulty.
is that USD?
Nice video Chad. The idea of having a mower just to mow and a tractor to work is great idea.
Thanks 👍
Toro 528d here, kubota diesel with a flail mower. County auction, 300 hours, non runner- $600. one bad wire and its up and running. Mow several several miles of mountain road annually. This might be my next if that one ever dies. Beautiful machines, both. Buy TORO!
What a great find! A $600 bargain for sure - Kubota diesel engine and 300 hours - that's amazing. I'm glad you were able to troubleshoot and find that bad wire. Did you have an idea what the issue was before you took the chance on it?
@@PurpleCollarLife Bought it sight unseen and got lucky!
@@RRaucina Great job!!
Thanks for the info! I'm going to have to do some research. I didn't know anything about the Titan MyRide.
2 year old turd cutter 34”. Kohler 7000. Both have been flawless.
Awesome! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Congratulations on 10K subscribers! We started the same time, I didn't stick to it as well as you. Keep it up.
Thanks! I appreciate all your support along the way!
I'm thinking about getting my hands on one of these soon, I feel like for the price they are great bang for your buck mowers
I totally agree. They're pretty amazing.
I just bought a time cuter max 50 am waiting for delivery Tuesday hopefully nothing but good things
We're now at 4 years - still great results.
Thank you for the information, I have ordered the Toro Havoc 60” Timecutter. It will fit in my shed nicely.
@@briandoolittle4954 how did this mower treat you so far
You should use that Bungee cord to keep your seat from tipping over when you check the battery or for whatever reason you are under the seat!
Good tip!
Just Subbed your channel, Looks like you have some interesting Content!
@@PurpleCollarLife
I have same mower but my seat has a cable attached to the bottom of seat to stop it from going to far forward
I wish mine had that! Thanks for watching.
@@PurpleCollarLife thanks and good informative video!
I just purchased one and I like it but why no hour meter?
Mine came with an hour meter installed. Did you get the same model? They don’t have an hour meter now?
Mine didnt have one either.50” deck. Bought one on amazon and very simple to install
my spindles were worn out after 100 hours. is there some way to install grease inserts?
Wow - that's disappointing to hear. I think we're at 125 hours now on ours. No issues with our spindles so far. I think you can get greaseable spindles when you replace them. But I'm not 100% sure on that.
Look under your seat by the battery there is a cable for your seat
Thank you so much! I'm going to look for that as soon as I walk out to the garage this morning!
Also you can use lock tite on the threads and it should not come untightened if you put a little lock tight on it
In the 3 years you've had the mower, did you have to sharpen or change the blades.
@@PurpleCollarLife One other quick question, any other maintenance you might have done such as say change the spark plugs? Thanks
@@bitoflearning1287 Just oil changes and some tire plugs in the front tires. I've blown out the air filter a time or two (wasn't very dirty at all) and I do take a look at the fuel filter (it's clear and you can do a visual inspection) every season. I also just replaced the battery in this video. ruclips.net/video/_av4ZPfV_5Y/видео.html
Other than that - it's always worked great.
You could probably build (or buy) a rack that hangs off the back for bringing tools around the yard.
Bigtoolrack actually makes a nice rack - but it goes on zero turn mowers that have the ROPS system. Our zero turn doesn't have any supports anywhere behind the seat to attach it to. But I probably could rig something up that mounts to the protective metal around the engine. Good idea!
i think you also have a baby hitch reciever too. good video!
Thanks for watching!
Hi, I have a 50-inch Toro time cutter and I called the dealer & the toro 1800 #s and the required PSI I get are all over the map... would you know what the tire pressure should be in the front and back tires? Thanks!
How will this handle for a lawn care company
We have a very small lawn care company and it works great!
How long is the belt of a 60” deck time cutter. I’m so confused ordering
The deck belt
Thanks for watching. In your instruction manual, it should tell you the belt part number for replacement. I think it may also be on a sticker on the deck. I wouldn't want to give you the part number for mine and it not work on yours. I'm not sure if that belt stayed the same for all Toro Timecutter 60" fabricated deck years.
How can i sharpen my blades? i try the flap disc on a grinder but I never get it as sharp as a new blade :(
It’s definitely a skill that takes time to perfect - getting the perfect angle on the blade to be sharp like new. I usually use a bench grinder and set the stop so that I’m only grinding down the top of the blade, at the angle that matches the original cut angle on the metal.
How many hours do you have on the mower
Is that a good idea to wash your tractor after every cut?
Great question. I know some people who wash the machine after every use - and it still looks new for decades. I don't do that. I just don't have the time. But at the same time, when I do give it a good bath, it still looks like new without all the dirt and grass on it.
I prefer using an air hose to blow it off. Works good. Also I never cut grass when it's wet
Did you get it from a dealer or other location like a tractor supply?
We got this one at a dealership. But it's the same model that is available at Tractor Supply and I think at Home Depot.
I have the same mower mine pulls when mowing a slight hill sideways is this normal always pulling on the lap bar to keep straight
I got a 2020 toro timecutter 42 “ deck. Battery is drained every time I go to use it . What causes this and how to fix it?
That's a great question. Sounds like maybe a short somewhere (key switch?). Maybe the battery isn't charging when you're running it? I'd be curious if you put a meter on the battery while the engine is running if it shows that it's charging.
I changed the key switch battery selinod. And wires to the selinod. And wire to starter. Still just clicks unless I have jumper cables to get it started
My neaiber next door said to put a car battery in it instead of lawn mower battery
Will you be doing a video on changing the hydro fluid. I was told it was good for life…..I donT believe that
Great question. I've never done mine.

Put a washer and a split washer on the seat and it will stay where you put it.

Ive had mine a year and couldnt be happier with it.
Ever think that maybe your going to fast
I get realy bad numbing in the hands useing this mower, any one else ?
I have not had that experience.
Turning like that can mess up your grass
That's true!
Somebody listen to me
Please put the blades all the way to the front of the mower
I think maybe they put the blades back so that the vacuum that the spinning blades creates under the deck has time to lift the grass up to be cut.
