- Опубликовано: 14 авг 2024
- So a few weeks back I purchased these ICON Anti Slip Combination Wrenches from Harbor Freight. I am very happy with the overall design and manufacturing they put into these wrenches compared to all the other manufactures of Combination wrenches that I have tried over the years. I will show you what is different between them and MATCO, Snap-On, Gearwrench, MAC, Cornwell & Craftsman. Thank as always for watching. If you found this video helpful please hit the thumbs up. Share if you want to share and the Amazon Affiliate Links mentioned in the video will be listed below. Cheers!

20mm-24mm icon afaik is NOT the anti slip. If im wrong id like a link to show so i can buy them lol
I have had several different wrench sets over the 22 years I have been a tech and 2 years ago I bit the bullet and bought a snap on set of wrenches and it was the best decision I’ve made wish I would have done it years ago
That cornwell six point combination wrench looks very similar to my gearwrench six point combination wrenches. Even the font of the engraving of the size looks similar. The gearwrench six point combination wrenches don't have multiple notches in the head for grip like the icon ones do but they do have a single notch on the contact area of the head to improve grip. I really like the milwaukee & icon wrench sets with the notched non slip open ends.
I love my Icon metric combination wrench set... and for my SAE set I have Craftsman combination wrench set in gunmetal chrome both sets are very close to each other.
Also I forgot to mention my Icon was $99.00 before 20% off Icon coupon. My Craftsman set was a 11pc set not 14pc like the Icon and its price was $52.97 before my 10% military discount form Lowe's.
Awesome vid!! The man still rules the tool reviews!! Nothing better than an honest review from an honest guy!!
I have them and no issue. Upgrading my ratchets to snap on as nothing compares.
Just depends on what your using a wrench for. Every company had something in mind like you said for etching or design on the inside. There is no way to eliminate slip with a wrench. You can adjust play add grip etc but you still need to be able to get the wrench on the bolt or nut lol.
I bought a set of 6-point combination wrenches, I've found them way better for most work, especially with corroded fastners. Its a good idea to have both 6 (Steelman Pro) and 12 point (Gearwrench) sets in the box anyway, both great wrench sets.
How's the bite on the open end? They don't appear to only have two contact surfaces.
Try milwaukee max bite
I likke compare
Awesome video thank you
So many wrenches,,,so little time. Capri, tekton are on my radar right now. Be well!
thank you for sharing
That was a great vid bro!!
Being here in the midwest 6 point are a must have for me. Do l have 12 point as well? Yes. Both have a place. I have the metric GW set in 6 point and they are my go to wrench. great video man!
I would really like to see a professional's opinion of Teng tools now that they are being sold in the US.
Good post Justin. My set predates the nonslip open end but the CW613M from Carlyle is a 13 pc 6 point metric wrench set 7-19 mm i forget the exact price but wasn't that bad and has the best tool roll I've ever seen, nice wrenches
I bought the SAE and metric combination wrenches from gear wrench for 200 bucks. Talk about every wrench I need to work at a diesel and heavy equipment repair shop. I did have to buy a tekton wrench that gearwrench didn’t have, because I ran into a hydraulic fitting that was kind of an odd size but other than that I’m very happy with the set. The boss even got me a service truck (no tools) so I’m thinking on getting a second set so I don’t have to load and unload my tools
Sal O load everything on the truck then pull the truck beside what you work on in the shop :)
87FoRunner that’s not a bad idea actually
You haven't wiped out any of the "teeth" on the Icon? I have a set of the Carlyle. On the smaller sizes, which is where you are most likely to need the "teeth", I have wiped out the "teeth" after a couple of uses. I have since acquired Wright wrenches. There "teeth" are much more subtle and those wrenches work. They really work.
Just go on ebay and get used mac and snap on. I got a 14 peace metric mac set like new for $150. That same set was $375 brand new from mac's website.
Been considering making the jump to Icon. Do a lot of alignments and I've been working with a hodgepodge of Kobalt, Husky, and Pittsburgh stuff. Want something better than what I have but don't really feel like taking out a second mortgage to buy them off the truck.
Go for it! I think overall you'll be happy with their product. Cheers!
The icons are better than the brands u mentioned
Mac tool dealer has the Precision torque metric and standard wrench set on sale for $299 I've been very pleased with them
Great complete review
Do check out Channel Lock combination wrenches, to me they are identical to the Carlyle anti-slip and even the ICON.
Comparable price, too.
Try a 10mm S•K X-frame ratcheting wrench or a Wrightgrip 2.0. For comparison, the Wrightgrip 18 piece metric (7mm - 24mm) is roughly $250, depending on what finish you get (Black Oxide, Satin, or full polish). The X-frame set is a bit pricier at $234 for their metric set (8mm - 19mm), but have ratcheting box ends. Good job on the video either way and it's good to know that the Icon wrench set doesn't skip any sizes!
Great video!!
Good video. I prefer 6 point anti slip.
For the price versus other V-Groove wrenches I wouldn't mind trying the Icon, sadly I dont have a nearby HF . They look good
This test doesn’t count your not using snap ons flank drive plus wrenches
Great video brotha I have this wrench set and have been very happy with it have a great night JD JD keep rollin those cameras and doing what you do and I'll keep smashing the like button hopefully others will too
Thanks 👍
Great Video! What is that, that you have engraved into that Snapon 17mm stubby wrench? I engrave my tools but I saw you had numbers on yours?
Jonathan My name And a personalized serial number
Justin Dow Thanks! Is this some number that you came up with or some company you registered with? Stay safe!
Yo Justin! Stay safe brother!
Would have liked to see a Wright wrench considered that they're the ones that made the anti-slip wrenches first.
I'm a millwright and use my tools everyday. That being said I have used most every top brand of tools. I have the wright 2.0 wrench set and I've been really impressed with them! I also have a old set of bonney wrenches and there my favorite
Harbor freight is one of the MAIN reasons WHY AMERICA HAS NO AMERICAN COMPANIES LEFT. and who films in a cave? 🦇 Jk great video bud!
Why dont they make metric anti slip 21 22 23 and 24mm?
LB N they do in the jumbo set. Covers 20-24mm No skips $65
Justin, in your opinion, who has the better combination wrench: Tekton or pay a few more bucks for the Icons? Want to have a decent set of SAE wrenches but does not have to be top of the line.
I would go Gearwrench, then ICON or Carlyle but if Tekton is your flavor go for it and let me know how well they hold up.
Go eBay and buy used snap on they are dirt cheap on there you’ll probably not even spend twice as much as your already planning and they’ll be superior In every way and you’ll be a million times happier with them, after buying mine used I wonder why people would even look at the icons
A Pittsburgh or husky is just as nice as icon or tekton, a lot of tekton is also at hf. You won’t even spend twice what the icons cost if your really shop around
Trust me man I’ve tried the icons tekton Pittsburgh Huskey craftsman Milwaukee’s Wright’s gear wrench Mac and my snap on are 10x nicer than all of them
If your dead set check out Milwaukee, better than the icons and come with more wrenches, I bought those before my used snap on and I still reach for the s/o everytime
Look like my channelock wrenches and cost more money
Overpriced, u can get same wrenchea from doitbest hardware for half the price. They are branded channellock
Have you tried the SK tools x frame wrenches with the ITS26OFFSK code for 26%?
Fancy anti-slip grip designs only go so far when you are using a poor steel recipe! I'd rather have a plain open end that won't spread.
The Snap On Flank Drive Plus open end wrench makes those other brands look like junk. Yeah, they are expensive but "there is a difference".
ppap351 well Wright grip wrenches are in equal footing with snap on flank drive plus. I have both and like the both.
@Justin Dow have you ever used these? www.harborfreight.com/11-piece-metric-highly-polished-long-handle-combination-wrench-set-47067.html. I’ve had them for a while put them through their paces and I love them. Great video by the way. Been watching you for a while and you keep getting better!
Icon copied Snap On's flank drive wrench so compare the same wrench.
They copied napa's Carlyle
If it's not ratcheting or electric I wont use it 😂
Mad mechanic i wish I could link you a vid here that I found randomly that was torque tested beyond 150 ft. Lbs ratcheting wrench that would not break. The guy haveto use a cheater bar going past 200 ft. Lbs
Justin I am unsure what wrench's to upgrade in my box. I have now came to the two brands carlyle (Napa) or icon (Harbor Freight). they look very similar design. So what are your thoughts between the two brands?
