      Did that once when i was in highschool. When i was standing upright on the bike pedalling up an inclimb, my foot accidentally slipped off pedal. I came down hard on the crossbeam on my sack, crushing it, causing me to stop and vomit onto the sidewalk. Biked home with an extremely sore and painful crotch. Stowed my bike in the shed and headed inside to check on the damage. Part of my white underwear were stained red. I had managed to break the skin on my testicles causing bleeding but no serious damage. Being a genius i then decided to disinfect with 99% isopropyl alcohol. I will never forget that pain. Right messed me up for the better part of 3 weeks. Good times.

      @@Hawk013 I can have the UPS guy here with an Irwin bolt remover in a day and a half.... and I'm still saving a ton of money. If the Snap-On truck can beat that I'd be floored.
      That said, I'm not a professional, time is not money, and a broken tool is usually only a minor inconvenience for me.

    Just bought the rocketsocket 13pc set for only one project. 2000 4runner lower ball joint. I live in Michigan where rust is terrible. I had replaced one side a few weeks ago when it popped out in my driveway. I ended up having to drill out two of the four bolts and it was to say the least not fun. I was able to move my 4runner out of the middle of the driveway and order the ball joint for the other side. At the same time I also ordered the rocketsocket set. Two days later I did the job. Having this set saved me about an hour or so of laying on my back, trying to drill up. Thanks for the video. Best 65 bucks I've spent in a wile. Thanks again. Love your honest and informative videos.

      RainX washer fluids are hands down the best. Orange is for general cleaning and ice melt green is general cleaning and bug remover. @@TheMattc999 I tried that RainX orange stuff several years ago. I didn't personally care for it. It left orange stains in my white paint and while the RainX properties did work, over time I ended up with a thick film around the area where the wipers wiped. I ended up having to use a buffer and glass polish to get it off. That's when I went back to the regular ol' blue stuff. Honestly, I was disappointed because I've used the traditional RainX products for years and never had issues with them.

    I bought a set of craftsman reverse spiral fluted bolt removers years ago and never looked back. I used them initially on an oil pan bolt that gave me a ton of trouble. It came out like butter with the tool. Then I made the boneheaded mistake of driving off with the key to a set of locking lugnuts still in the lug nut which was perfectly round hardened steel polished to a mirror. The tool took it right off. I love the reverse spiral fluted design and will buy again if something happens to the set i have. Definitely a tool that you don't need often but when you do they are invaluable.

    I would hold irwin to their tool breaking. for 100 bucks and a reputable brand, the tool shouldnt break, especially when hammering it down on a nut isnt improper use.

    • @puckcat22679
      @puckcat22679 3 года назад +4

      As suggested in the video, and reported elsewhere, the Irwin is identical to the Snap-On. As he said in the video, he thinks he was a little bit overenthusiastic with the hammer. These type of extractors are very hard, and thus very brittle. It probably wasn't the tool's fault. You shouldn't use more than light tapping to get these started. The spiral cut will pull the tool down as you rotate as long as you get a little bit of grip. Hitting this type of extremely hard, almost ceramic-like steel too hard will cause it to crack, and as seen, break under torque.
      That said, a couple other tools did a really good job at a much lower cost. The rocket socket in particular seems to be a good value for the money.

      I bought a set a few years ago and they've been great. Removed everything I've thrown at them including a couple of rounded off lug nuts. Nothing has broke or been damaged so far. Not sure if the quality has went downhill in recent years though. But if you find an older set for a good price I'd definitely recommend them.
