I love videos like these; I can enjoy a musicless video that's very indepth on what the creator is doing. Even without owning a Honda, these are still super enjoyable and educational to watch.
Man, I bet that was a satisfying first drive after the mounts and shifter. When you do engine and suspension mods you tend to have high expectations that are normally not as explosive as you had imagined. Two mods that are focused towards drivability, one of which was desperately needed. Probably exceeded any expectations. Blown mounts suck, worn shifters suck. Fresh mounts and a proper shifter.... Oh I bet that was nice. Probably took the long way home...
I find the best way to get the shift linkage pin out is a few taps with a hammer using one of the AC bolts. It fits perfect and is pointed so it holds steady.
Dude. I have my sole "bitch pin" bolt and I was smacking the sh*t out of it!! It would not budge and I tried for at least 15 minutes. This one wasn't moving at all!
That shifter makes a big difference good choice👍🏼 Btw this video makes me wanna get up go to the DMV and pay the tags for my car just so I can drive it lol
Hey I just bought an ek hatch and engine mount is already replaced with aftermarket and it vibrates alot specially on cold start, what should I do to get the vibration off?
Hey Man. Which of you cars you enjoy the most? Which you think it has the more all around complete package? I sold my wagon and I pointing toward crx or hatchback.
Whats your opinion for mounts. Innovative or HASPORT. Interested in hearing your side. Im not biast either way. I need to make a decision for my EK project
Innovative are less expensive for the steel mounts. I like both except, just steer clear of the 60a durometer in the Innovative. The billet ones are similar from both companies. I'm using 3 sets of Hasport and 2 Innovative currently. Both have perfect fit. I'm not really biased except when I comes to spending rhe money and the Hasports I got all 3 sets used.
Hey man, I live in el paso too, I have a 91 honda civic and I was wondering if you could help me with my honda, the brake booster is bad and a cv joint is bad too, thank you
I won't have any time until late April. All my free time right now is accounted for with some other projects I have going on for my own cars and a couple friends. I could do the work when I have the time if you don't mind waiting.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Hey bro take your time, at least you read my message, yes i can wait. And another thing, do you have a door pillar that you are selling, my car is missing the driver side one and i haven been able to find one.
Hasport Performance motor mounts control engine movement, transferring more power to the wheels - taken from their website. Plus lifetime guarantee on the urethane.
U didn't show how to do the passenger side much at all.For a newb like me with the same em1 and same mounts here to learn how to do it kinda can't if u don't show entire thing step by step
I'm not really sure how I couldn't make from 4:15 to 5:25 any more easier to understand. Do me a favor if you haven't even attempted it yet. Get outside, get your tools ready, start the video at that point and remove all of the bolts/nuts that I describe and see where it takes you.
That's funny because you know exactly what I'm talking about when I say "T Bar". Are you one of the guys that gets mad at us for calling our 88-91 Civics/CRX an "EF" when none of them are actually EF's?
Man. Only if Honda kept with the B series in the EM2 I don't mind if a B17 existed. Just .... fucking sucks with the D17. Mines haves 44k miles but the mods just don't exist for this engine.
Depends in a couple years. Kinda in a pinch, if i save enough 4-7k i might save a bit more for a 1995 R33 GT25t and save the civic as a eco box and then k swap it.
Content ideas for the EM1: clean the engine bay, minor wire tuck, paint the valve cover.
Thanks, now I'm not the only one busting his ass to clean his bay! Lol
Garage Built Hondas lol yeah man to have a “clean” car it has to be cleaned inside and out. Haha
Especially when we're always under the hood!
Garage Built Hondas definitely and on the internet. lol
That Electron Blue Si color never gets old.. so damn fresh!
Agree, the color is so nice
OG SAGA I’ve always loved the electron blue em1 since I first laid eyes on it!
Same car and same color my 2000 em1 si
Thank you!!! Finally! Someone that actually knows how to explain this process clearly

Thank you so much!
It's crazy its like every time I get a part you make a video on it. I can't wait to get my shifter in my car, nothing but good videos here!!
Hopefully we can be ahead of you next time! 😁
Great video. I’m changing out all 5 mounts this weekend. I’m more confident doing the first 3 now. Thank you!
Good luck! It's pretty simple!

I agree, mounts make a world of difference. He said it was an adjustment getting used to the vibration but I think it's a great feeling!

I swear there’s some sort of mind reading going on here. First the fuel pump now the mounts! Im doing my mounts today! Again, perfect timing! 👍🏼
That's so cool, it's kinda like when girls who hang out together a lot end up syncing having their periods at the same time. LMAO
Hahahahaha.
John another stellar video!! Very thorough w/ torque specs! 👌🏻🤙🏻
Excellent content always dope to watch always learn something new every time I watch your videos much love from Maryland keep it up bro.
Thanks MP! 🙏
more em1 PLEASE
i ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
Thanks for that, love to hear! We'll get more soon!
O My God, that wheel/tire setup is so on point!! :o
I love it too, looks mean!
Nice car. I love the solid crisp feel of when shifter/bushings are upgraded.👍 great work
Thanks buddy, appreciate the support!!
Really nice video Jon and thank you for the decals. I received them very fast and the quality is top notch.
Awesome!!
Always a good a detailed video! Love watching your videos
Thank you
Did u ever have a problem with bolts getting lose after a while and falling out do , to the vibration
No, we didn't. And Raymond daily drove this car up until 2 weeks ago when he sold it.
Omar C I did on transmission side lost the two bottom one.. wondering if I should go with longer bolts or thread locker what do you think ?
Thread locker and call it a day.
Hey, I know this is an older video but I’m just curious were you able to use all the stock bolts with the mount kit? Thanks.
I believe so. I cannot remember entirely, this was my friend's car and I was helping him out.
Nice! Glad he got rid of those holes in the rear bumper!
Lol
EM1 always been one of my favorite. But EF is best😁👌👌
I agree. 😁
Thanks to you guys, I'm making my way back into Hondas. Just got me an RD1 couple of days ago. EF quest begins.....👍
Nice dude, I love mine. Super simple and comfy to drive.
Love your videos glad to see some ek content.
Thanks Martin, I love getting the chance to have different cars up here!
Great video man! Engine mounts looks sick man, I like them 👍!
For real, I love gooooolllddd!
That shifter makes a big difference good choice👍🏼
Btw this video makes me wanna get up go to the DMV and pay the tags for my car just so I can drive it lol
With your engine?! Hell yes you should get it legal!
Garage Built Hondas tags are paid🙏🏼 gotta wash the rex and throw the garage built Honda’s sticker on it👍🏼
Love to hear that!
I love those ktuned shifters! I wouldn’t mind getting one for the del sol. Nice video as always man!👍
Thanks homie!
No problem man
Ey my honda civic the motor move whem i starting the car so i need to change brackets
Great content as usual Jon
Thanks Sean
Excellent video guys 👌🏼👍🏼
Thanks SickVick!
That si sounded soo good at the end
It sounds pretty darn tough!
What's the make of the exhaust manifold on the coupe, sounds like the burble of a WRX?
I have no idea. I'll record it next time and see if we can figure it out. It came on the car when he bought it.
Been missing your videos almost time for some track videos 😁
Really soon man!!
Those gold Hasport mounts look good.
I like them too!
Hey I just bought an ek hatch and engine mount is already replaced with aftermarket and it vibrates alot specially on cold start, what should I do to get the vibration off?
Change the mount to an OEM styled one. There won't be any vibrations afterwards.
@@GarageBuiltHondas do you have a link for one so I could buy one? 🥺
@@projectdream6451which mount did you get?
Hey Man. Which of you cars you enjoy the most? Which you think it has the more all around complete package? I sold my wagon and I pointing toward crx or hatchback.
I like hatchbacks best
The ones my car has now vibrates like crazy. How are these ?
Hasport lowest durometer urethane is mild. More vibration than stock but nothing annoying.
@@GarageBuiltHondas I'll get myself some ordered thanks man !
What type of wheels are these and what type of Muffler is that?
Enkei J Speed. K-Tuned muffler

I don't right now. Contact me towards the end of April, we'll see what we can get set up!
Question: why these motor mounts vs OEM mounts?
Hasport Performance motor mounts control engine movement, transferring more power to the wheels - taken from their website. Plus lifetime guarantee on the urethane.
What exhaust is that? Sounds amazing!!
It's the header, some sort of unequal length header. A lot of people go for those when they want their car sounding like a Subaru.
You can just twist the body and the shifter will go up and down.
Nice shifter. How feel change?
It feels really nice, solid crisp shifts!
Do you get any vibration?
Not with the 60a durometer bushings.
do they vibrate at all?
Not the lowest durometer. 👍
Are those 15" Rota GT3 wheels?
15" Enkei J-Speed
What transmission u have
EM1 stock engine and trans.
Another great video.
Thanks Jonathan!
Can you give me the tire spec, thanks!

Correct

Torque specs?
This is the most helpful here! honda-tech.com/how-tos/a/honda-civic-torque-specifications-374596
I got a nun rusted em1 shiftlinkage
Laying around
I'll ask him and see what he plans!
great video help me a lot
👍
I had a same color 99 em1 when I was back in high school. 04. Crashed it in a month coming home late from visiting a lady.
Wheels ??
amzn.to/2W2VrX2
I noticed the minor surface rust around the bolts and such and knew the car wasn't from around here. Haha.
Lol, we're so lucky to not have to deal with it. A handful of these bolts were pesky!
Bet it doesn’t vibrate anymore with new mounts
It's super solid now!
Shocked to see how bad those mounts were. The front torque mounts are what I generally see that are that bad
These were done! It definitely needed replacements.
That em1 would look good with a cleaner engine bay and definitely needs a painted valve cover
It really could benefit from it!
whats his wheel specs?
15x8+25
👍💯
Under coat? Maybe.
It could help but it's safe now here in our climate. No future rust/corrosion.

lol try living in Nova Scotia Canada, everything is rusted, every bolt is another sorry to tell.
I can't imagine, and grateful I don't.
I have the same header👍
Nice!
This dude sounds like JayzTwoCents like wow lol even same intro
Is that a bad or good thing? Lol
I had no idea who that was and had to look. 😁
Garage Built Hondas it's cool man no prob with me. You do Honda builds and he does PC builds. It's all good bro 👍🏼😎
Thanks buddy!
The hybrid shifter is lot better
robert sabala I have both and I agree, but if you are tight on cash and wanna save an extra 100 it’s a lot better then the first k tuned design
those mounts r sexy bro =]
Agree man!!
It’s 3 years but you forgot torque specs lol
need some power before wasting time on mounts..
I disagree strongly. So I shouldn't have put mounts on my weakly powered b20b track car?
I just can’t trust a dude that says t bar to work on my car
