- Here's a compilation of every Mac Startup and Crash chime from 1984 with the Macintosh 128k, to today with the M1 Mac lineup. What's different with this video and other videos are that the startup and crash chimes are paired with the respective Macs they were shipped with.

apple must really love that macintosh quadras start up sound since they've been using it up until this very day while incrementally decreasing the pitch
they knew it was an iconic sound, so they copyrighted it in a lot of countries
growing up with a 1999-2013 mac computer i was horrified to hear the new pitched startup chime. since I was a toddler I was scared of how the previous chime sounded, but now if i were a young child & hearing this i'd be thinking the sky would collapse on the world.
i wont deny, the sound is very epik for a startup sfx tho

Quick Fun Fact: The Startup Sound from the Quadra AV Series (used nowadays as well) is inspired by the end of A Day In The Life, a song by The Beatles which released in 1967.

T2 chip macs and M1 macs basically have the same sound, the M1 macs doesn't have any variations in my opinion because it seems slightly changed due to the built-in speaker audio quality and the noise of the mic
There are variations if you run the raw M1 files through Audacity.

I learned on Mac as a kid from 80s-90s, now I am a windows expert, I have tremendous respect for Apple and I am thinking of getting the new MacBook Pro that launched today, I want me kids to see and learn Mac as well as PC, but the Macs are special, that startup sound brings warm and fuzziness and I always think of the legendary Steve Jobs. Much respect from a windows user!
As a Mac user, I would say the same for Windows.
I am the same as ChicagoTechGuy except I learned from Macs throughout the 90s. But I got heavily into PC Gaming circa 1997 when a lot of developers wouldn’t offer MacOS ports.

I don’t think the Mac mini, MacBook Air, and M1 Mac are different, it’s just how much bass the speakers have, correct me if I’m wrong but, my main machine is a Mac mini M1 and my dad has a 2017 iMac but it still has the T2 chime, slightly bass-ier but they sound the same
