Snow Leopard was the best imo
Macintosh Operating System Mavericks was the best :)
@@MyDogSteppedOnaBeee I don't really think snow leopard is good... my 2010 macbook air was designed for it and i can't even load youtube
@@MyDogSteppedOnaBeee i think high sierra is still good, my macbook air 2010 supports high sierra as it's maxium upgraded system.xD
The fact that the earliest version still feels like we use it everyday is insane, truely iconic
In 1984 I could test the first Mac in a computer shop in Caracas. I found the concept excellent and easy to learn. Ten minutes after, I could draw with Mac Paint. In 2001, I had to work hard to find again my marks with macOS X. 😅
@@jean-jacquescortes9500 wow you were there since the start of the OS. Very cool
@@samoriginal One of the first computer I used was the Apple ][ Plus in 1982. 😃
@@jean-jacquescortes9500 I’m literally upgrading to a M1 Pro MacBook Pro tomorrow crazy to think how far things have come
Even the icon to window animation is already here. Apple is really the best when it comes to OS UX/UI.
The first version of macOS had a desktop with icons on it, however, Windows 1.0 did not have a desktop yet.
but guess which OS went stonks after 1995, Windows, beating macOS
@@pewdiefanno19 Windows 98
@@pewdiefanno19 Because Bill Gates was a better business man and kicking out Steve didn’t really help. Apple did good for a few years but then completely lost their way.
@@loki.8435 Yes, I know, and I do know the fact that iMac G3 brought Apple to a much better position. And Apple never got down since
No man I see that bill gates who started the road but in 2011 he dead and Tim cock has been in apple he is the one who lost the way right before but after releasing m1 and m2 starting 2021 or 2020 they became back but even Steve jobs was the one who started the the smartphone and started the ipod and everything the only reason why Microsoft in the days of bill gates has successful because the price apple has made the price really expensive but Microsoft made it a good price like Microsoft have all the features of Mac but right now after windows 11 upgrade and we saw that it is broke so Apple become the best 😀😀😀
9:23 perfect timing with the music
Yea.
I didn't even think about that when editing the video!
Shout out to Susan Kare, the one responsible for early Macintosh graphic design
Thanks for revisiting Mac evolution!
I have used all of them and it was nice to see them again and appreciate how much chips and technology have progressed, specially memory and storage
I guess it takes you a lot of time to sample all those OS.
Good work!
Wonderful video. I've used all the Mac OS versions since 1985. I miss the 3D interface elements of early OS X.
You and me both! I want Snow Leopard back! 😩
you fr like that???
@@gavochino guilty as charged
I miss skeuomorphic, too. Don’t judge. 😂
@@jonathanvanier you can create a virtual machine under VirtualBox.
Amazing video! Thank you for posting it, it was a blast to see all these differences again. Particularly zipping through the color variations in the Appearance control panel was a fun little detail. Pity that it skips System 7.0, though. The step from (mostly) B/W System 6 to color, but before it is called MacOS, feels like an important step on the way. Also, System 7 Pro had a slight UI refresh in the design of apps shipped with the OS. And too bad MacOS X 10.0 seems to have been distorted (it looks like a 4:3 recording stretched into 16:9 aspect ratio).
Mac Os X was the most beautiful desktop operative system ever imo.
Was?
@@mojoblues66 Still can be, compared to rest out there, but the new versions lack the charm and the attention to detail of the "OS X" era.
@@danielguerra1880 I agree. It started to slowly go downhill when they switched to a yearly update cycle with 10.7. Yet there is nothing else that compares to it IMHO.
hell yeah
Amiga had full color OS since 1985, MacOS was still monochrome in 1990!!!!!
Wow! Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I was in art school in the mid-90’s learning graphic design and we had old Mac classics running System 6. But we did have two color Macs running System 7. But I totally geeked out when System 8 debuted with that new look! I almost wish Apple could add in settings that would, on the surface, emulate some of the look of those older versions.
10.6 Snow Leopard was peak OS X imo. Beautifully designed and super stable.
Mac OS 10.1 looks so cool and was such a big upgrade visually.
That was the most dramatic change imo
I still remember that update. Was so beautiful
Really great video👍 I miss the old days.
beautiful video. thank you for sharing this
i love the ventura background
Same
Yeah me too
oddly resembles windows 11 bloom but yeah
It's a (stylized) closeup of a California poppy.
it was a nice stroll down memory lane. My first was the Mac plus and now I am on an and still using an i7. Thank You!
Amazing video! Thank you so much.
Awesome video. This music is so fitting 👍.
I used to work with a Mac 128 (it was released before Mac 512 & Mac Plus). We needed an extra long custom screwdriver to remove the top which had the signatures of the designers inside...
Love this video and also love the music.❤
System 1.1's "About finder" looks so cool!
I love this video, the song is perfect with it and fit perfectly.
I even have a set of developer CDs from the beginning until about System 7 or so laying here. Good old time. Copy and paste .... even the system was just copied and pasted to another Mac, if needed. Loved it.
Splendid, thank you for sharing! ✨
Thank you for watching!
@@NobelTech hi
Wonderful video. Shows that the unique Macintosh experience has been there since day one and has continued for nearly 40 years. What visionaries Steve Jobs and the Mac team were!
Yep and those people have left the company. Sucks now.
Absolutely. But to be more complete IMHO, it really should start with the Lisa OS, which was the precursor to the Mac in just about every way (Steve had run the Lisa project before getting kicked out and taking over the Macintosh project and transforming it into a baby Lisa). Also the very long System 7 evolution should probably be included (a whole lot changed between 7.0 and 7.5.5).
@@jonathanvanier just curious about your age given your knowledge of OS. Also, mind saying what you personally were using System 7 for back then?
@@CaptureCat88 I'm actually not that old! Haha. I've actually started using MacOS in the late MacOS 9 era. I guess I'm just a big fan of computing history and the history of operating systems in particular. I've used all of these OSs in a mix of emulators and vintage hardware, and always enjoy reading more about them.
I started before the os9 / os x conversion. trip down memory lane. sweet vid man =-]
Brings back memories!
Yeah I think it would be better if you had some kind of background commentary explaining the new things in each OS rather than just music, that's still a bop.
Thank you so much 😊
Good Video !! Thank You :)
Got my first Mac in late 2010. I'd never had such a smooth OEM experience before that. I still miss the refined Aqua UI and 3D dock. It may sound silly but one of the things I miss the most is that corny welcome video upon first booting your Mac that would smoothly transition to setup. I'm glad they at least brought back the boot chime. Far too iconic to not do so.
thank you for this video
Even in classic versions, i mean the ones that came before version 10, the latest ones had great visual style that reminded metal
I love how it become to new
Im watching this video on macOS 12.4 with a MacBook Air M1, perfect!

That was a fun ride! My parents had one of the first ones.
Version 8 of MacOS looked very good
This is giving Microsoft windows evolution vibes and I love it.
I like how the working on background cursor is a Wristwatch
Nice background music 🥰
I was just watching this video before my laptop broke at school (someone tripped on it), and a week later Microsoft Edge restores all of it's tabs and I'm on this video again!
I made a YT video on my channel about the laptop.
I've only started using Macs since 2018. I grew up way too poor to ever have a Mac when I was young. In fact for the first 4 years when I was born (2000-2004) we didn't even have a computer in the house. I always dreamed of having one when I was growing up. I finally got a 2012 MacBook Pro in 2018 when I was about to start uni, and I adored it. I still use it and still love it today - for a 10 year old laptop it is amazing! In February 2021 I was lucky enough to get the M1 2020 MacBook Pro, and it is beautiful. 😍
you are venezuela?
Never had a mac, as a tech enthusiast I always shake like a confused old man whenever I encounter a mac
Very cool. I have never seen most of those. I thought the very first Mac OS was the one I played Oregon Trail on in elementary school. Any want to educate me on what computer was in elementary schools that had Oregon Trail on it?
Cool! I use Mac OS since 1987, but I stopped upgrading in the Big Sur version because of my music softwares and hardwares.
Yes the good old days without me
I really miss the Welcome videos, when starting the Mac the first time. It was every new version something special.
love this
Just amazing 🥰
how did you get mac os 7 and 8
DUDE, I LOVE THE NEW
I hadn’t used a Mac since middle school, and when I entered high school in 2004, it was all Windows machines.
Fast forward to late last year, November 2023, and I get an M2 MBA with Sonoma. Crazy how features I came to rely on has been around since Snow Leopard at earliest.
And macOS STILL feels great to get around just like it did before.
The oldest versions seem like some kind fo stylized videogame. I think thats so cool
Things really started popping off in '97 😃
Love u vry mch big fan
how did upgrade to os 13 ventura ?
The system 4.2 control panel resembles a hybrid of the modern System Settings and OSX System Preferences, with the category sidebar and Skeuomorphic settings panel.
This control panel looks so much better than modern MacOS 1:11
Did you install mac OS Ventura???
Yes
@@NobelTech ooo
Cool video. 4:40 “Unix” mounted volume. I smell SheepShaver! 😎
How you instaled all this versions? What you used?
I will always remember Snow Leopard :,)
Same. Was my first MacOS. Loved it 🥰
Leopard was so good. And then Snow Leopard just turbo charged it! They optimized it so thoroughly that the file size for the OS went from 16 GB to only 6 GB
What version of MacOS is the most recent one? And is it like iOS 16.2 used on the iPhone and iPad?
MacOS 13 Ventura.

Attention to detail to I guess what typeface Apple used in their keynote announcements.
You used the classic one until OS X 10.1. Then Myriad until Mavericks.
Then Helvetica Neue for that one time when it was used in Yosemite.
Then it’s San Francisco from El Capitan going forward.
the older versions of mac give me a weird, nostalgic feeling even though most versions were made before i was even born
Whats the title of the song you used?
Nice video, but… why did you bypass System 7.0.1 and 7.1 ?
0:01 the good ol days 😌
Great old times! On board since 7.5.
Wow!
can you do Mac os 13.0 Ventura vs Windows 11 video please
Noted!
@@NobelTech Thank you
Wait until october when windows 11.1 is out, can't wait for that video 😄
Tim Cook turned Apple into a fairy shop.
I miss skeuomorphism. Something that I forgot about why how the skeuomorphic UI design elements are supposed to resemble the physical materials the Macintosh computers were made out of. This is most evident in Mac OS X which resembled that generation’s iMacs and PowerMacs. An earlier OS 9 Quicktime introduced the machined metal look later adopted by all Mac OS before they started making laptops and keyboards like that. And later on we had that glass Aero look with the rounded corners.
I renember using mac os 10 leopard at elementary school, I loved it
What was with the eyes on Mac OS 8? Never seen those before.
That was a third-party extension. Same thing you can get under Unix.
Macos 7.5.5 was the first-ever realistic macos that looks like we still used which we really don't
Mac OS X 10.0 was the most major release I think. Back in 3/24/2001
what is the music ?
Ventura new guy
MacOS: Become iOS
What’s the music name???
Those stalking eyes in Mac os 8.x tho
3:05 timestamp has pretty cute eyes on the taskbar!
its crazy how technology has evolved
you can do also asahi linux vs windows 10
I'm assuming this was done on a virtual machine. as such, it was utilizing state of the art hardware. Why not show the actual speed at which these OS's actually ran at? I used Apple II and it always ran at a crawl.... spent lots of time watching the clock icon ..... waiting.....
Fun fact:ventura was a concept but it became real
fun fact: big sur was a concept but it became real
Fun fact: your mom was a concept but she became real
well, starting from mac os x idk i forgot, they named the OS after places in california. so its plausible and likely to get ur concept to be “used”. you can pile up certain operating system wishlist in mac concepts, use landmarks in california as your title, and get unprecedented credit when it becomes real.
MacOS X 10.2 looks like Windows 7 but apple design, why? Because the three buttons on the window you know the red green yellow buttons it's glass like Aero so that proves it, should we use a Mac or Windows?
Now i really want to get a New version on my High sierra
martin from LegacyJailbreak moment
I love macOS in all version

@pig? Which you shouldn't do if you want to have a stable and nicer macOS experience.
The eyes in OS 7 are watching you just like the way the webcam / notch is now
Not quite. At the time it was feared that the monitor screen size had become so large the user would not be able to easily locate the mouse arrow/cursor on the monitor. The purpose of the eyes was to help the user to easily locate the mouse pointer.
