This is literally my new favorite show.
What a compliment! Thank you so much for the support! 🥰🤗
I would personally recommend the Low Scape Mound Aronia. The website pretty much described it as a versatile plant that anyone can grow. Don't let its looks fool you, it puts on a show.
Yes! I love that plant in my landscape and you're right. Between the spring flowers and the fall color it can definitely be defined an overachiever! Thank you very mulch for watching the show!
In a large property with some localized needs for erosion control and some shade tolerance, low scape mound aronia is amazing
Last year, I bought 1 "Midnight Sun" weigela, and was so stunned by how gorgeous it turned in full sun, that I bought 2 more! If they are that impressive as a first year plant, I really have a snow in store from now on
That's fantastic! It really is a stunning plant and the diverse foliage coloration adds so much to the landscape 😍🤗
Over acheiving shrubs was a great choice of topics. Thanks for your recommendations.
Thank you! Very glad that you enjoyed this episode ☺
I love midnight sun weigela, too! It is such a stunner and its foliage looks so nice against other plants.
Absolutely! 😍😄
NICE SHARING
Awesome awesome awesome video guys! I have many of these plants so I am on the right track!💚🌼🌱
Wahoo! That's fantastic! 😍😄
I love the information that you shared on this show. I’ll be reviewing it a couple of times. Stacy I think that you have a true poet sitting next to you. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
That's great to hear! Rick and Stacey both certainly have a way with words and a knack for explaining things ☺
I so enjoyed this video. Very much needed it
Wahoo! Happy to hear that you enjoyed this episode 🤗
Amazing show! Thank you for your knowledge.
Thank you for watching! 😄
Our North Texas weather is a roller coaster. 80s today, 40s tomorrow, really tough on the plants and my bulbs are jumping up. 😬 All these wonderful plant choices give me spring fever! Thank you for annnother great show!
We certainly feel you on the spring fever up here! 😄
Great information. Thanks ❤
Thank you for watching!
I thoroughly enjoyed today’s episode.
Yay! 😄🤗
Great to hear top recommendations from BOTH of you! Could you also do Shade plants?
How does the Midnight Sun Weigela do in Zone 8A eastern NC? I have Spilled Wine Weigela and they do ok.
My over achieving plant would be BananAppeal Illicium - bright chartreus color to brighten shady spots.
Yes, we will discuss shade plants more thoroughly in a future episode!
As for Midnight Sun, it should do well for you there. ☺
Really enjoyed the overachiever shrub round.
Thank you! We had a lot of fun with this episode ☺
Good morning from zone 9, Bluffton, SC. Enjoy watching on RUclips in order to see the pictures. Also, enjoyed your winter walk-around.
Good Morning, friend! Thank you for watching, it's great to hear that you enjoy our videos 🥰
I’m in Virginia 7b as well and I’m so excited for my fellow Virginian to get such great suggestions for wedding flowers! Supertunia vista snowdrift is an aggressive huge impact plant as well. Sylvia, if you are reading this and in the central Virginia Charlottesville area Send me a message if you’d like other suggestions and my experience in our local red clay ridden area. As to sunflowers and aphids... yes, my PW suncredible sunflowers were absolutely covered last year.
Supertunia Vista Snowdrift is a great option as well! 😄
I love the channel . I have a question, I have a cabin in the blue mountains of Pennsylvania, we have a really bad problem with the dear eating everything. Any suggestion of any shrubs and or flowers that would be 🦌 tolerant.
I'm glad that you enjoy our videos! 🤗
Deer can be such a nuisance! If you go to the link provided here, you will see our deer-resistant shrubs.

Absolutely I agree sun king . I made a mistake of planting two too close together because they were so small when I planted it. How can I divide this plant or is it not advisable or move it ?
Yes you can divide them, best done in spring with a sharp spade or shovel (sharp edge). I've had my best success planting them at 3 foot spacings. Thank you very mulch for watching the show!
COREOPSIS ‼️🌼
Great episode, very informative and inspiring! I do have a question. I have a flower bed with clay soil. In the past I spread shredded leaves on top, but during the winter the wind blows all the leaves off. This last fall, after spreading shredded leaves, I added a light layer of arborist wood chips on top of the leaves. After listening to this episode, I am now concerned that adding the arborist wood chips was not a good idea. Will this negatively affect my soil? Should I remove the wood chips? I grow tulips and annuals in this flower bed. Your advice would be appreciated!
You mentioned a “light layer” so you should be fine. The tulips will have no problem with the mulch. Thank you very “mulch” for watching the show!
@rickvuyst Thank you!
ENJ🪴YED‼️
Love your show! You always provide such great insight inspiration and information. I have a question. I have 2 large planters flanking the front door of my north facing home (zone 5b). I currently have dwarf Alberta spruce in them that I’d like to replace with another shade tolerant cold hearty evergreen. Any suggestions?
You have an advantage that the home is north facing so you have built in structural protection from winter sun. Have you considered Tater Tot Arborvitae? (mentioned in this episode) Hardy to zone 3a. Thank you very mulch for watching the show!
@ thank you for the suggestion!
