  • Hello there! In this video, we are going to diagnose and trouble shoot issues with 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid not starting. We were able to identify the issue to be low voltage in Hybrid battery. To resolve the issue, we were able to charge the Hybrid battery.
    2009 Escape include the debut of Ford's Sync voice-interface system, a new processor to smooth out the transition between gas and electric modes, a cap less fuel filler, a refined regenerative braking system and the introduction of a Limited trim level for those who want all the luxury with their fuel efficiency. There's also a new Economy mode for the air-conditioner, which allows the gas engine to shut down.
    This is a fun yet informative look at some of our repair jobs here at Junkyard Dogs . Whether you just enjoy watching the work, or you get that bit of information you need, we're glad to be here for our customers, our friends.

    You can do this with the HVTB in the car and without removing ANY components on the passenger side of the HVTB. On the driver's side of the HVTB is a bundle of wires in gray foam. Inside that bundle are two orange split conduits with a gray (+) and black (-) connector at the ends. Tap into those and save 2 hours of work.

      I need to do this to get my car started. I went to the junkyard and picked up the big orange connector that plugs into the HV battery and left a foot or so of wire to it. Any reason I couldn't charge the HV battery by connecting the charger to the connector wires left on the plug?

    My over head lights and vanity mirror lights are not turning on in my 2009 ford escape hybrid. I noticed they both get voltage from the “battery saver relay” in the wiring diagram but it doesn’t tell me which relay it is. Do you know if this relay can affect the hybrid battery?

    in min 18:14 you're showing the charger. There are a bunch of them on Amazon, but this spec is not currently available. is that voltage and amperage very specific to this car or does it self-regulate and i can pickup pretty much any one of those chargers? also if I run it from a 240V plug in my garage will it charge a lot faster like it would an EV?

    Can a battery tender or a snap on battery charger be used to charge the high voltage battery?

    Thank you for doing such a good video really helpful with this. Im wondering if there is anyway to charge without taking the battery apart. Im guessing the electronics might not let people do this.

      I wish there was an easier way but unfortunately the battery has to be removed as far as I know. Ford removed the charge button starting the year 2009.

    • @urntwrthyZ
      @urntwrthyZ 8 месяцев назад

      @@junkyard-dogs The HVTB does NOT have to be removed. The two bolts securing the blue lifting straps can be removed with channel-locks. The two worst fasteners are on the side toward the front. Cut down a Torx bit to get at those. EVERY other fastener for the two lids is readily accessible.

    Thanks for the look inside of the battery. I wonder why Ford did not put a charging power plug on it. I suppose if you could plug it in at night, you may never buy gasoline again? I was just shopping for a cheap chariot since I was tired of walking to Walmart. One I saw reported the problem presented in your video. A no start situation. I will put that pos on the consideration list. My worst fear is the first curiosity check saw replacement batteries in the $3K range. Definately out of the question for a 17 year old puzzle box. Anyway, thanks for the look over the shoulder.
    The one other question that looms as I am about to go fix diner is the charger device. Would it not be feasible to wire it into that positive and Negative terminals coexistent with the original device reassembling so a pigtail is outside that you could connect the charger should the battery become depleted again without the removal part? Hmm. made myself a note to explore this further. If the Escape I saw advertised is not a rolling pigsty, I may be able to come up with the asking price.

    • @junkyard-dogs
      @junkyard-dogs  6 месяцев назад

      It seems like the two bolts are insulated somehow and don't connect to the terminals so alligator clips on the bolts will not work.
