As a budget vr enthusiast since Winter 2018, I feel this is the best tip video out there.
For new vr users, I suggest taking it slow at first. 30 minutes in, 30 minutes out. Build up your vr legs and experiment with different locomotion settings.
When I started, I couldn't use teleport at all. I went straight to smooth locomotion games and felt no motion sickness symptoms, which is odd since teleportation is recommended for new comers to the virtual world.
    Have fun with your VR!

When you’re tying to overcome motion sickness you shouldn’t be forcing yourself to keep playing while nauseous. Instead if you’re new to VR you should focus on doing small sessions then stopping when you feel sick IMMEDIATELY. Then when you are okay again, jump back in. This will gradually allow you to play for longer periods of time

The thing about the cloth v leather thing is that while the cloth does absorb sweat more (leather does as well, trust me), it's also breathable, making it less likely for it to sweat while idly having the headset on. Leather traps the heat and makes you sweat more. So I think it's more to do with comfort than anything

Invest in a cheap foam lens cover to put over the lenses when you aren't using it. It will keep the lens clean and it will protect them. You can accidentally ruin your headset by leaving it near a window or sliding door and having sunlight hit the lenses. I personally think headsets should come with these in the box.

Here's the thing with motion sickness in VR. It all depends on how your body reacts to the locomotion mode you're using. Some stand-in-place titles get people sick but are usually the best way to avoid it.
Next is your teleportation movement. That is recommended for new comers to VR because it's least likely to get you motion sick when moving from one place to another.
Finally is smooth locomotion. This is what gets people motion sick a lot of the time.
I never got motion sick in VR while using standing and smooth locomotion, but I have felt off with teleportation.
It's all about how your brain processes the experience.

    • @HaloMyDudes
      @HaloMyDudes 3 года назад

Na tbh alot of people dont have motion sickness at all with vr it really comes down to how your body deals with getting mixed signals in relation to your movement in game vs real life

But what is said in the video about it getting better if you do have it is true because it is very much about how your brain reacts and not really some innate ability and it's very rare in my experience that someone truly cant get over it with enough effort and time

Use the strap as a safety belt for your thumb. Don’t try to put your whole hand in. Adjust the angle of the strap (after the mod you described) then slide just your thumb in between the two layers of lanyard. Tighten the slider around the bottom of your thumb to comfort. Use the joystick, adjust slider. Now you can fully drop the controller in almost any position and the strap will catch it.

Thanks hip :)

Practical tips from a 53yr old mom who plays vr way more than most kids lol
For headset balancing: I took an old phone case that has the belt clip on the back & stuck my portable phone charger in it...securing it with a cpl hair ties. I clipped it to the back of my headset. It never falls off!! I use one of my shortest USB-C cables & keep the headset plugged in to the charger. I've played beat saber 4 hrs straight without using any headset battery! I'd rather come up with free or cheaper ways to enhance play, than to spend money I don't have.
I use Enloop 1.5V rechargeable batteries which last for weeks.. I play every day for at least 3 hrs. I had to bite the bullet & buy from Amazon, but the charger came with 4 batteries, & I paid like $12 on a lightning deal.
Tip for making ur own wrist straps: I've experimented with shoe laces, eye glass cords from the dollar store, different adjustable straps off of small handbags & little flashlights, etc.. what works best for me is some parachute cord my daughter had in her craft box. Now I have neon tie-dye controller cords. I also made knuckle controller cords out of hair ties, but I like to be able to just let go of my controllers at times...& with using only the knuckle grips, you can't do that.
I do mostly workout games, so I sweat alot. I like the original foam interface because it soaks up the sweat , keeping it from dripping down your face...PLUS since its porous, it allows for some much needed airflow so you dont fog up. If I use my silicone cover, the sweat runs down my face & collects inside...yuck... & that makes it fog up, too. I wash it by hand every night using mild shampoo, squeeze out the water with a shammy & let air dry over night. Or hang it in front of a fan if I want to use it sooner. Its always clean & smells great!
Also, to keep my hair back, I use a neck gaitor (sp?) (Because I take my headset off a lot... when I put it back on, my hair is a pain to keep out of my face)
If your lenses get dirty alot, it's usually because they touch your forehead (not ur lashes) when u put it on. Just use an eye glass cloth to clean them up.
Ok that's all of my motherly advice for now 😁👍

1:40 i got a pair of "prescription" null prescription lenses for my quest 2 to just use as protection for the main lenses. i got them from frames direct (oculus themself link them) but i am sure anyone who produces prescription lenses for vr headsets would be happy to make them, at frames direct you just have to note "plano" when ordering, i even uploaded a picture that just said "plano" as my prescription. keeps the main lenses clean and they are literally just glasses lenses, meaning that you can clean them however you want inside bounds of reason, and if you did scratch it oh well. might cost 80 bucks for me to replace, but at least the headset is fine.

i just started with vr recently, i don't get motion "sick" per say, definitely doesn't make me feel like i need to puke, but i get disorientation that screws up my balance, there is a word for it that i can't think of right now. but it is something that i can tell that i can get used to, simply a perception thing. and really i got the quest 2 mainly for putting together a crap level race sim, and that type of disorientation just doesn't happen to me when i try a racing game.

I just got my Oculus 2 this week, and have been enjoying so many games, but I picked up Saints & SInners yesterday and OH MAN…cant play more then a few minutes of moving before feeling out of sorts, I put the blinders on but really trying to get my system used to it. I picked up some ginger drops today so going to see if that helps as well. It’s such an AMAZING game and trying to do everything I can to be able to comfortably play it. I keep going back and forth between asking for a refund or keep it and hope that I will get used to it.

I somehow haven't gotten motion sickness once... maybe its because my first "VR" (if you can call it that lmao) experience was with Google Cardboard. From what I know thats the easiest way to get motion sickness. Its been years but from what I remember I didn't get motion sick from that. So I guess you can say I was sorta prepared for when I finally got a real headset, the Quest 2.

i love this video, pretty entertaining and not boring whatsoever. you should also do a video on the Windows Mixed Reality Vr Headset. I recommend the Samsung Odyssey+ because the older windows mixed reality vr headsets are not as good, plus its pretty good for people with glasses and compatible for a good amount of games.

Easy way to remember "5" in Spanish, Cinco De Mayo = 5th of May
Get TurnSignal on Steam if you have any HMD with a cable on it. It will do wonders for how long your cable lasts by keeping you aware of how many times you've twisted in a particular direction.
Twisting in both directions is a good habit to get into with VR. Even on a Quest as you'll also want to be doing this if you're using a link cable as well.
VR Cover is worth the expense. I own multiple VR HMDs, and literally the first purchase for every one of them has been a VR Cover since they were thing.
They are more comfortable, allow less light bleeding, and are just far more sanitary.
Also, if you have a controller that uses batteries, get rechargeable batteries. I prefer Lithium Ion batteries, as they have more consistent output as they drain.

okay so I had PSVR and started with guns and truth (don't do this) the movement was so wonky I fell over and broke it at the end, and after I got a quest it wasn't nearly as bad, although if your really tired you will get VERY motion sick to the point where you feel like your gonna die. If your thinking about getting an oculus and want to know if its good quality or a good starter headset it is. spend your money wisely though and I know thats not of my business but if you only have 200-350 dollars to spend, try to get it for your birthday or Christmas and save that money or spend a bit on store games. review on oculus 9/10 best rating I have given on any game console and thats saying something because I had a playstation and xbox and I have to say, after I got this it quickly became my favorite console and you should get it! hope you enjoy it if you get it.
