True,we have a 20 foot pontoon with a beand new 115 but our one friend has a 23 foot velocity and he has been working on it,it has a blown and cammed 454 mag amd hes currently working on getting a dual carb setup on it,when he last tested it the engine produced 850 horsepower and 900 ft lb of torque but with the dual carb he said it should make closer to 950-1000 horse and 100 mph to 120 with the current transmission its got in it because with the gearing how it is rn it has a chance of flipping but especially if he was to give it a lower gear ratio giving it a higher top speed it would most likely flip but its already a coffing on the water😂

After I destroyed the 6th engine over 20 years in my jet boat, my wife had an intervention. Life support was terminated for my passion of many years. I still have the boat and the usable parts from the last engine build, but until I get a serious cash injection, I will be enjoying the sailboat that came home with me when I brought home the last custom engine.
For over 20 years, I enjoyed the sound of a sweet lumpy cam idling on a cold, still, foggy autumn morning.
She was built for abuse. She is a 450 hp, 21' double hull, rock crushing, jet powered engine stand, named EUR MUM. Steering wheel, throttle, fuel tank, engine, and jet drive.
EUR MUM was the loudest thing on the water, and she easily handled the big load of three large men with everything, for a week, deep in the bush, banging hard the whole time.
That idle took me back.
I know this is an old video, but I'm impressed with the great job that was done with this boat. Up on plane quickly and gone... Nice work..

Why do you say that? Because he has thru-hull exhaust, clean hull, and a built engine? I don't see anything wrong with what he did. Boat looks clean, sounds good, nothing illegal, and nobody is around on the water during his power pull. He was even far enough away from the dock before accelerating, clearly looks both ways when backing. They way it should be done. Your grounds for calling him a moron are not firmly based. From my 46 years of being on the water, people that put that kind of money into their boats are way more careful than people who only have a small amount, or less, invested into theirs. You're entitled to your dislike of above water exhaust, as much as he is entitled to have it.

Michael LaVoie no it is not. Intake, carb and cam gets 500ish out of a 454 big block done right. My 70 el camino with a 468 with just carb intake cam with stock heads and bottom end dynod 498. Start gettinto the pistons and heads and measing with compression and yoj can get 700+ all day long without a supercharger.

You basically have to redesign and rebuild the entire motor. Like I said it's pretty hard to get 700 hp. GM's LS7 7.0L only had 500hp. How do you squeeze 200 more hp out of it an make it reliable enough for a boat with a constant cruising rpm range of 3500 - 4000+ rpm compared to that of a car which is 1500 - 2200?

Marine engines are cammed differently. Example, a 327 V8 is cammed differently for the same marine version than from the automotive version.
@@o9rgeronimo979 they are. a regular auto cam would have too much valve overlap. marine cams usually give you low end power
I had one of these Stingray boats, they came stock with a carburated 454 that made 330hp and this boat sounds and performs like the stock ones did. Good hull design and was guarenteed to do 72mph + from the factory.

If you are judging the HP output by the time it takes him to plane and accelerate, consider this. Most experienced hi perf boaters that have any time behind the wheel of a fast stern drive setup realize the quickest way to grenade a drive is to hammer the throttle out of the hole, especially when you have big horsepower and torque.

I saw this very nice boat in a vid at idle (first start vid) with the drive all the way up. That destroys u-joint's. Seen it happen. I'm not sure how my comment got on this vid. Anyway never start a bout with the drive up.

Fully jacketed dry exhaust? With the amount of overlap in that cam judging by the idle it would be hard to introduce water any where near the collectors and not see reversion of some level. Just didn't see any water out the tips or overboard dumps out back. I run lightning 2.5 × 4.5 jacketed big tubes on my blown 572 in my howard. Introducing water just before the tips inside the boat. No issues yet. Sounds good. Just the dry exhaust idling on the water caught my ear. Hope it wasn't a lift pump issue and also isn't any water in the motor...
If it was a lift pump issue he'd know it by now---he'd know it by one spin around the lake!!!!! Jim Good point though!!!!!!! You know your outboard drives!!!

Thats a BMF! I'm building a 410W for my boat. Has AFR Renegade 220 CNC heads, 1972 351w block, Holley Hi-Ram EFI intake so far. Gonna be 11.75:1 with forged pistons and H beam rods. I have to fabricate the wet headers, should be 550-600hp

The fishermen hate anything not fishing, I have had more alterations heading thru a river access from the popular middle finger, casting of lures at my boat and one guy threw a beer thinking I should slow down for them because they were fishing. Water regulations state not to park or anchor in the access anyway. If I pull off plane the boat throws rollers at them but fishermen are apparently not aware of this neither are the screaming Kayakers. Lol!
Ken Terry I agree, I’m a fisherman myself but I jet ski and boat at the same time. Early morning and late evening is when I fish. If you fish in the middle of the fucking day...what do you expect? Of course there’s going to be noise it’s when everyone goes out on the water. Personally I don’t care. My boat and jet skis are all modified. Some fishermen think that they own the lake. It’s just fucking noise, get over yourselves lol.
