Man that's a great boat! Kinsler fuel injection? I had a '76 Taylor SS for a number of years, white with red and blue belt line stripes. The stock 455 Olds and a Berkely Jet with a little more cam, probably around 350hp. It would do around 55-60 mph, no speed demon, but enough to be a little bit of fun. Chop, shake, rattle and roll is part of life with a flat bottom speed boat, and a lot of fun, Ha Ha!

Back in the 80s that was the set up, we had lotta fun at Lake Martinez I had an 18 foot sprint with a 468 in it & it hauled ass, just me my girlfriend and a cooler didn't get any better than that, The good old days.
I'm amazed that boat still floated when the driver got in.... With his massive steel cannon balls swinging between his legs. Hats off to you sir, old school mussel boat, no glasses/goggles ( only pussies wear those), and a heavy HOT foot.

That blower surge lope tosses that boat around at idle like it is nothing. Can't imagine what a pull from a dig feels like in that thing. If it would hold together it would really be something.

We use to call them drag boats. No transmission. Just a direct V-drive. It can’t sit stationary while the motor is running. Only good for going fast and bumpy in a straight line.
