I had my lobster bib on, my garlic melted butter, and a full gallon of sweet tea when they introduced the engineer weapon... Then they brought the dish and it was a shriveled shrimp. Huntie I threw that plate away, aint no pushing here 😭😭 😭
as a mesmer main i have to say rifle was rough, at least while playing in WvW, the skill activation are too slow and people move out by the time the ground targeted skills comes off, the portal ability was mostly useless since people ignore it even if they are dying and need a way out ( tho in time it might be more useful as people get used to it, but the vxf could be better to indicate is a portal and not just a little purple ball on the ground) the phantasm was probably the worst part, you can't use it to interrupt anything because of how long it takes from the moment you click the skill to the moment the target gets stunned. i really hope they gather proper feedback and make some changes, but for im "pushing the rifle plate away" 😅
Forgot how skill 5 works , ground targeted? If so, would be cool if the stun was there, shoot to stun and heal and click again to place a portal for the ally to get away. I guess that would be a bit too much though and completely rework the phantasm
Instead of having every Engineer shortbow ability be a single AOE circle, it could be multiple smaller circles in various formations like a straight line aoe (horizontal like a wall, or straight from player to target) or conal aoe .. something beyond just a bespoke visual identity.
The necro swords would work well with something like the GW1 vampiric concept...like a trait or a relic that gives something when sacrificing health...would at least be interesting!

Yaaa Rev scepter felt pretty bad. I was lookin forward to a ranged support style, to compliment the staff, but now I just have another melee support weapon that honestly feels worse than staff. It's only saving grace being that it can be paired with shield. Some problems it has, is that when applied to a enemy, it applies cripple and slow, which isn't that useful in PvE. But in PvP is basically broken, and stupid for people to fight against. And when applied to allies... might I guess?... I'm already able to apply 25 stacks of might in almost any spec I choose, so that just felt bad. I think they should retool the 3rd skill to be a beam that heals allies, and damages enemies between it. Simple, effective, elegant. You can even keep the additional effect of teleporting to allies or pulling enemies, though I don't think that's necessary. Ima be real tho, disagree on the Thief axe take. It's a simple, yet engaging mechanic imo. And you kinda always wana keep in mind where your axes are for maximum effect. In PvP, you can even pre-throw some axes, and use your 3rd skill for a surprise ambush. Alot of skill expression. And this is a perfect example of doing more with less. Also omg no. Do not change the Necro sword 3 to a evade backwards. The leap, adds much needed movement (particularly for sticking to enemies) to the necro tool kit. This weapon is extremely fun as is. Maybe it does need some tweaking numbers wise, but mechanically it is amazingly fun.
I was really looking forward for an AOE weapon for my Specter, but the Axe is just atrocious. Revenant's ( my second main ) Scepter looks bad, and my third main Guardian's pistol is the only one which looks and feel awesome, but it's condi and i don't want to deal with condi builds other than my Specter! I'm just hoping they'll change something about the Axe because it feels slow and weak :(
I main Ranger & Revenant. Ranger for Ww & Pp (button between c & b doesn't work.. i need a new keyboard. lol) so.. I love how MH Mace is support because it suits Druid very well and it gives good boon coverage which loses the reliance of pet F2 trait interactions a bit which is a good thing. Scepter.. Yeah I pretty much 100 percent agree with you.
My thoughts: Guardian: Chewed. Don't like the symbol being foot-targeted, don't like how fiddly the skill 5 is (I think the "press again to detonate" mechanic needs to go - I see what they were trying to do, but in practice it's very hard to get it to explode where you want it, especially when combined with the charge mechanic). Warrior: Maybe a few crumbs, but not many? Skill 5 needs more priority so it doesn't get interrupted because you have the autoattack on auto, but definitely looking forward to it. Revenant: Eh minus. I kinda like the idea of the lightsaber effect, but the skills don't really work together, it's not the first lightsaber effect we've had in the game, and another mostly melee power weapon is a curious choice at best. (Even considering that it's power support, staff already exists). Ranger: Chewed. I tend to think of the growth mechanic as being more significant as a skill reset than for passive buffs. I could see the argument for more support, but on the other hand, druid mace/wh+staff seems to be doing fairly well. Would be good to see healing on the untamed ambush. Thief: Eh plus. It's cute, it's an interesting gimmick, but it is ultimately a gimmick. Can't help but feel like they could have done better with thief axe. Engineer: Push the plate away with a ten-foot pole, tip into incinerator, if you really care about the plate, wash plate while wearing gloves using a sequence of detergent, vinegar, bicarb solution, and disinfectant, then treat the plate with radiation to make sure it's thoroughly sterilised. Necromancer: Chewed. Needs a few tweaks, but there's the potential for something quite solid (or at least better than axe/focus or staff for power builds...). Mesmer: Chewed, but definitely has a few issues. Elementalist: Push the plate away. I was just soooo bored when trying this out. Kinda feels like everything elementalist has had since Weaver has just been repackaging existing ideas with a new paint job. I'd rather play sceptre for ranged condi, and if they try to balance to force people to use pistol on ele condi builds, then I just won't play ele condi builds in anything serious enough to warrant using the weapon with the best numbers.
You’re right thief 2nd skill is not great. You need to be in melee range for the axes to hit the mob multiple times. Otherwise it will hit it once, unless they move and it completely misses. :(
I would love to see regen or bounces with the auto attack on mesmer. Something about meaty heals and no chaos doesn’t fit my fantasy. On the whole, I think most of the weapons can be made great with some tuning and minor reworks.
I actually had a ton of fun playing Axe/Dagger Daredevil. That, Staff Bladesworn, and "Oops all swords" Reaper are the builds I'm looking forward to the most. Dual swords was an overall DPS loss on Power Reaper compared to the staff secondary set (main set GS) for me, but I think you're right on the money about reducing the cast times to make the set a little more impactful in PvE (I actually suspect it'll be a much better PvP/WvW weapon due to its sustainability). I think I enjoyed axe on a condi DD because I was already thinking about my mobility and positioning, which seem to compliment the weapon mechanics well- didn't really get excited about the Specter with axe. I feel like it's an initiative heavy condition weapon, and specter just doesn't have the juice it needs to be fun.
I feel very satisfied with the necro swords to be honest. Finally it has some mobility. It has good damage kind-of. I hope that someday swords necro will be in the top 10 places on snowcrow.
Interesting take. I don't really agree on placement of the ele and mesmer. I see what they were going for but both weapons just feel so underwhelming and gimmicky that I don't see myself ever bothering using them as they are now. The necro sword I really like but as you said, the animations take too long and damage is too low to justify sacrificing health. The leap is valuable imo as this caters to PvP / WvW mobility which is something necro currently lacks, but indeed doesn't make sense when the weapon is ranged based mostly. Pistols and staff: agree, but again damage modifiers. Engi shortbow: cannot see myself ever using it over the existing weapons, it's just too inconvenient, too "set-like" (would rather run mortars then) and is just not fun to play with imo. Can't say about the others, didn't play those as they didn't strike an interest to me.
agreed with this list. Those bottom ones really need to be completely rethink, even changed into a different weapon. As a thief player, I'm constantly disappointed about how they refuse to add another Off-Hand. The scepter for rev is just bizzare. Like I know they're trying to do the hammer treatment but the implementation is not there. That novel of a tool tip, who has time to read that??? geez. I do with they give ranger a Rifle and make that a long range condi that specializes in bleed, vuln, immobilize and even "reveal".
Hey Kroof! I like your videos. I didn't try out every profession in the beta (yet) but just like you I dislike the main hand axe for thief. I don't why Anet gave some off-hand weapon to the thief, like warhorn for example for a better support/heal Specter or something. Only just off-hand weapons are available for thief the dagger and the pistol unfortunate. I thought heal warrior will get some love but it seems not ... the staff's skills are satisfying. Btw what do you think about the chaos and inspiration traitlines changes for mesmer? What do you think which elite spec can attach to them to become a mesmer as healer?
So about the Mesmer healing build both Illusionist and Chronomancer works perfectly fine, imo. Chrono being the obvious choice though, because everything they do is providing boons and healing. BUT something interesting about Illusionist is that their Rifle 1 with Ambus provides so much healing PLUS you can make your Illusions copy that through giving them access to mirage mirror's as well. 4x cone AoE with ~2k healing which is very spamable is so damn interesting. So in terms of raw healing numbers, i think Illusionist beats Chronomancer, but in terms of boon-providing and flexibility Chono still is the Queen
If the pistol had a gimmick I like the idea of converting stacks of bleeding into burning or burning duration scales on bleeding stack on target. Sorta plays into that zealot fantasy, and blood that boils with zeal.
Necro really felt like a tuning issue. Adjusting the strength of the sacrificial skills. Sad that ele pistol is basically only condi viable, because the idea of being a gunslinger mage has been a dream for a while but I'm way more used to power fresh air builds than burn/bleed condi builds.
I am a little bit scared by the thief axes in PvP, because you can prep the axes out of combat and start the fight with a lot of damage in one go...we'll see...
Thank you for scepter on rev, honestly its dreaful and my biggest worry is a lot of golem botherers are seeing a bunch of barrier and screaming its incredible for support, but to support, you have to actually land ALL your hits to worth a scourge pressing 2 buttons. Not to mention on any of the best rev builds its so epensive to upkeep. My idea was the same, you should be able to hit allies with 1 and 2. I cant imagine any decent player in wvw letting you get off all the hits and barrier yourself, or any squad sitting in melee range for almost 10 seconds
Mesmer "Allied Targeting" I think if the Dev's want to implement this then I think they are going to have to add a new object class, it seems like just now, the situation is it's Green so its Targetable, where I think program-wise not game wise, Player Characters should be their own Object Class, to make the Ally Targeting work. Obviously it would still present as green, and you could click target a mining node or NPC, if you really wanted too, but this would allow the skill ignore not player characters. Implementing this might be a pain and induce two much lag. But I think its an idea worth testing to make PC to PC targeting make sense.
Also, they need to stop with support based weapons. For a game without the traditional tank heal and dps, they are leaning too hard into making healing weps/specs. Rather them make a new support trait line for each proff, rather than support weapons. Support should come from heal/utility/elite and passive from a trait line. Not the weapons
I'm in a similar boat. They created a game that wanted to go against the trinity format which really set it apart. Ten years later it's as if they're like "oh dang, we messed up, let's try to make the trinity without saying we're making the trinity." Either make the trinity a thing and just make it VERY BLATANT, or allow each build to be able to put out damage AND have self-sustain.
As a ranger main, I have such conflicted feelings over the maces. The offhand is fine. It works pretty well, though the Nature's Strength stuff on it is a joke. Unless you permanently shackle it to mainhand, you're not gonna be reliably activating Nature's Strength with just the off-hand in PvE and you'd literally never be able to do so in PvP/WvW. Mainhand is *so close* to being great. I think it's good as it is and Heal Druid absolutely runs it, even just as it is now. Subgroup Vigor on the auto is really nice, the 2 is alright healing for it's CD, and if you have 100% boon duration and alac then the 3 is ~80% protection uptime on it's own. But everything is just a *bit* off from it being a real standout. I would agree that I'd love some sort of healing on the AA, even if it's in a small radius. Speaking of small radii, the 2 could really stand to have it's healing radius straight up doubled. And the three I honestly think is fine as-is. I would not say no to barrier or more healing on it, but it's a blast for Karakosa relic, tons of prot, and a CC, and there's another demand I have for mainhand mace instead. Indeed, my biggest complaint with mainhand is that (regardless of what ANet might have wanted it to be) It is a healing support weapon... but the Untamed Ambush is just cascading damage and immobilize. Heal Untamed could desperately use a second healing ambush to let them not have to run staff/staff and now that we're getting probably the only Ranger healing mainhand weapon for the foreseeable future it doesn't even have an ambush that fits with that identity. It is a massive lost opportunity if ANet doesn't give Heal Untamed at least a bit of bone here.
I honestly just tested the Mesmer Rifle and I love it so damn much. It is 100% the correct weapon choice for me personally BUT there is just something which feels off for me. The Autoattack felt a bit clunky, like you already state in the video AND my brain always told me 2 is doing an explosion combo, but it just didn't. Idk if it is just me, but the missing combo but clearly seeing a little explosion threw me off. I tried to create chaos-aura's so many times by doing 2 explosion combo. You just can't imagine... Other than that I really have nothing to say about it. Skill 3, 4 and 5 feels so damn good to me - especially 4 self chosen detonation is so damn satisfying. Like with a full harrier build you heal nearly 6k with it AND create an chaos-aura, hello?! SLAY, i say.
as things are, the engineer shortbow is a waste of space. healers will prefer mace/shield and it can't sustain a dps/boon playstyle. it might see some play if engineers could switch weapons mid fight, but the cost is too great to choose it
Don't like Elementalist pistol visuals especially on weaver dual skills. Bullets with a condition attached doesn't make the weapon appealing to me. They could have used bubbles or vortex's of wind or streams of fire to be shot out instead of bullets. They could have been creative in that department. It's very bland considering elementalist is a visual class. Other than the skill 3, all other skills feel underwhelming.
Didn't try Mace Ranger or Sword Necro since not enough time and friends with similar tastes played them. I really like staff Warrior, Guardian pistol and Thief Axes were all fun but all need some changes, but the ground work is there and I expect to really like playing all 3, Rev, I'm mixed on. Rifle I want to like so badly, I'm loving heal Chrono currently but rifle is very clunky for me and does not enable heal Mirage, it probably can be done but if you could just play Chrono and not feel like your kit is fighting with your play style why would you? I don't know who made that statement about Mirage but it feels very weird. And I don't know if it beats scepter/shield for me for Chrono even. bow Engi is a cool idea but very clunky execution for me and Ele pistol is a mess to me, I just did not feel it at all.
Interesting opinion's. I've heard people say how strong they found the revenant scepter, and how it's their favorite, and how guardian pistols ist their least favorite.
''why is there a leap on ranged swords for necro'' Mainly because people complain about the lack of mobility so they wanted to please those people. To be fair, a double leap on a range weapon is useful in pvp and wvw scenarios, but completely useless and even detrimental in pve.
These Devs are so clueless when it comes to Revenant. All we want is a range weapon, but no, let's give them a melee scepter that does less dmg than sword with none of the benefits that sword has. Oh and give them another energy draining skill so they can now only use 1 instead of 2 skills before your energy is completely drain.
Haha i think you dont play thief thats why you push the plate away 😅😅 i played that in pvp you can just cast 2 axe2 the call them it can 1 shot a none tanky class
Honestly mesmer rifle is trash. This is as a mesmer main since the start of the game. Dmg is nonexistent so only a supporting weapon no can't be used solo at all. Portal is worthless. Targeting allies with heal is worthless because clones will always prioritize the enemy. Chrono rifle works because healing and boon gen is way over tuned. But lack of alac or quick mean dead on mirage and has 0 synergy with virt. I seriously hope skills 1, 4 and 5 undergo major reworks before launch. I cannot state how bad this weapon is outside of raids and strikes. In open world any build can be used. But not when a pure dmg rifle does no dmg. Please reconsider your ranking of the rifle.
That's like saying staff for druid is a horrible weapon when it clearly isn't. Both rifle for mesmer and staff for druid fall into the same category of being purely support focused with next to no damage. While rifle definitely still needs some work (especially the phantasm), I really agree with its placement here as a support weapon. Having specific weapons for specific roles is not something new for this game. If this weapon was great at dealing damage too, why pick any other weapon? Do you know any one weapon that is great at healing and damage? If there's anything to blame for open world rifle not being that useful, it's the low difficulty of open world content and how you don't really need support builds there most of the time. "Portal is worthless" It has its applications in spvp any wvw. And that is also the reason why this ability has two parts. The portal and the barrier so you can actually use it in pve and not feel bad about it. "Targeting allies with heal is worthless because clones will always prioritize the enemy" That's why the attack has a splash heal though, no? Not to mention that you yourself can still target the allies so I don't get this point at all. "But lack of alac or quick mean dead on mirage and has 0 synergy with virt." If a weapon gave either of those boons baseline, you'd have alac AND quick chronos, making all other supports completely useless because of role compression. Why take any other support when you could have a quick/alac heal chrono? Also why would you need another weapon for virtuoso? It's already incredibly strong as is. "I cannot state how bad this weapon is outside of raids and strikes" Look at my prior point about open world content not requiring healers due to its lack of difficulty. Not the weapon's fault. I feel like you don't get what this weapon is supposed to do. It's a support weapon. Not a damage weapon. Building full condi staff ranger and then crying about how it's low damage and thus worthless makes as little sense as this.
@@lasgin99wif druid staff is much better in open word because it actually scales well. Staff is like 66% dmg 34% healing on auto. Rifle is like 20% dmg 80% healing. I know they are support weapons but at least let me take less than 5 minutes to kill a lvl 80 veteran. Even 4 which is supposed to be a dmg ability still does nothing. So really 3 is your only ability for dmg which means giving up might and fury which would help with dmg. Oh yeah I forgot did I mention everything is ground targeted? And I'm sure you know how much slower ground targeted abilities are and how reliable they are in WvW or spvp. The portal on 5 is bad. It is worthless. There is never a good use for it over the barrier and resistance in WvW because only one person can use it. It's worthless in spvp because it's slow. And it cannot save a teammate. Because you are a sitting duck with no mobility/defensive skills they can ignore the teammate kill you (because you are squishy) then fight the teammate. Maybe, If it allowed a down state teleport than it'd be fine (maybe). In either WvW or Spvp all of your abilities can be ran out on reaction because of how slow this weapon is. In WvW the close instantly die. And the stun on 4 never happens because it take 2~3 secs from cast to hit. Clones shoot at half the speed you do. So anyone can easily see which on is the real mesmer. The splash heal is tiny and you have to stack on the target to receive it (it's like 180 radius). There is no mobility or block so you are a sitting duck if you mess up (chrono rewind errors) This one is on me I didn't fully explain this. Mirage ambush gives fury. It should have been alac. That would have meshed so much better with staff for an alac healer mirage. But it doesn't. They can't give it quickness because can't have alac and quickness to group at the same time or all balance is broken. I do understand that. But no alac on ambush means It's worthless on mirage despite ambush being a fantastic burst heal. And I like your logic. Let's make chrono the best dps, adps, qdps, aheal, qheal in the game. Hey why are you playing necro? Why are you playing mechanist? Git gud scrub, play chrono. Let's go back to HoT when every party was just Chrono's for alac and quickness. Or. Just hear me out. How about we make weapons that can function with multiple classes and actually feel good to play with outside of niche content. Is that to much to ask?
@@TwelveTables Druid staff has one damaging ability (its auto attack) on a 0.9 scaling every 1.35s so why would you ever take this on a damage build over any other weapon? Maybe I am missing something but I don't really see how taking 4 minutes with staff for a veteran somehow makes it a viable option for open world but 5 mins on rifle makes it absolute trash and garbage tier. Both are horrible for an open world damage build, even speaking from own experience as I tried to make staff work in the past. Compare that to reaper literally having to only touch an enemy and they're dead, staff is an absolute joke for a damage weapon and so is mesmer rifle. Even though I mentioned the portal having use cases for spvp or wvw i never really play those game modes so I can't really talk about a big part of your comment, sorry. Having alac on rifle ambush would definitely be a good change that I'd welcome. Most classes have that one heavy support weapon and now it's mesmer's turn. I really don't see the problem here. Of course it would be cool if all weapons could be used for damage and support but that's not the case and has never been the case so I don't really think this is a fair criticism to make.
Guardian is not "one" of many that Aneta caters too, it's the one proff Anet gives everything too. It's honestly annoying, especially if you don't like playing the paladin type classes in games. Also love your content, but boy oh boy, it's MAHN tra not MAN tra.
@KROOF no Mantra is a word in Hindi and older Indic languages, it is not an English word. It's pronounced Mahn tra, mantra is a mispronounciation. It is not like the word often. Where ofen and ofTen is both correct. Search up how is mantra pronounced, not one source will say its interchangeable or will say man tra is correct. It's like saying Jala penos instead of hala. Just because it's now written in English doesn't change its pronunciation. おはよう o ha yo, doesn't magically become pronounced like Ohio in English.

I really hate how the revenant scepter looks. That long stick just looks unwieldy.
It’s so ugly. If it’s like a whip instead of a stiff stick I’d enjoy it more visually.
Hehehe, they also do a lot of damage, per axe(3k).
Ele pistols are great! Though im biased as sin, so youre probably right.
Ten years later it's as if they're like "oh dang, we messed up, let's try to make the trinity without saying we're making the trinity."
Either make the trinity a thing and just make it VERY BLATANT, or allow each build to be able to put out damage AND have self-sustain.
Cause the trinity works and they know it.\
Sword/Sword Necro leap makes sense if you use it right before you weapon swap to a melee weapon. Just a thought?
My Favorite's where Thief Axe. Guardian pistol. Ranger Maces and Warrior Staff. The others i didn't get a good vibe from.
Also, love your hair here :)
SLAY, i say.
as things are, the engineer shortbow is a waste of space. healers will prefer mace/shield and it can't sustain a dps/boon playstyle. it might see some play if engineers could switch weapons mid fight, but the cost is too great to choose it
I really enjoyed Thief's axe. Which is also the only one I tested because I didn't care about any of the others.
I loved the rifle Mesmer. I can see how it would not be great in PvP, but in an organized strike or raid group it should be good.
Ranger mace in pvp feels like what everyone expected ranger hammer to be before it was released, it's pretty neat.
I love rifle for mes purely because of how funny it is to me that you shoot people to heal them.
A classic good 'ole design!
Your tier scale is just *chefs kiss*
Hey just found your channel. You're wonderful keep it up :)
It's only beta let's not forget that hopefully they will make it work
Don't like Elementalist pistol visuals especially on weaver dual skills.
Whats the guardian pistol skin?
Sanctified - from the Wizard's Vault legacy rewards section, or you can get a red version from this quarter's vault.
Nice.
You just didn't play thief axe properly. There's a bunch of video outthere with some 57/62k dps using that weapon! lol
I wasn’t talking about the numbers on it.
Thief axe 🤮
Ax sadness 😭
Shortbow for engi is the lowest tier imo
"Portal is worthless"
It has its applications in spvp any wvw. And that is also the reason why this ability has two parts. The portal and the barrier so you can actually use it in pve and not feel bad about it.
"Targeting allies with heal is worthless because clones will always prioritize the enemy"
That's why the attack has a splash heal though, no? Not to mention that you yourself can still target the allies so I don't get this point at all.
"But lack of alac or quick mean dead on mirage and has 0 synergy with virt."
If a weapon gave either of those boons baseline, you'd have alac AND quick chronos, making all other supports completely useless because of role compression. Why take any other support when you could have a quick/alac heal chrono? Also why would you need another weapon for virtuoso? It's already incredibly strong as is.
"I cannot state how bad this weapon is outside of raids and strikes"
Look at my prior point about open world content not requiring healers due to its lack of difficulty.
There is no mobility or block so you are a sitting duck if you mess up (chrono rewind errors)
This one is on me I didn't fully explain this.
It's both... it's both.
Except all the sources that do, of course, like both Cambridge and Oxford dictionaries. Plus a few others. @@pokeylope6108
You have THE BEST voice.
Was just thinking the opposite..
Sad thing about Ranger Mace is if using Embiggening Tonic the mace buff shrinks you.
