My Top 50 Best ERB Verses of All Time

- Too many ERB verses, too many great ones to choose from. There are plenty that feel like they should absolutely be in the top 50 but aren't simply due to the huge # of verses, but most of these are MY absolute favorites to listen to/analyze, especially due to how stylish or brutal they were (so list is gonna be diss-based but not entirely).
Ik I'm bound to miss more than a few verses that probably deserve to be on my personal list. It is a bit old now, but feel free to point out which ones I might've even missed on accident (Thor/Zeus, Juliet, etc.)
Note: Small typos on some texts. Goku's 2nd verse should've been #35. Should've also put Vader and Adolf's verses higher xD.

Alexander the Great vs Ivan the Terrible, the entire battle is just amazing
Honestly surprised Catherine the Great ain’t on here, not even an honorable mention
Ironically enough, that battle is my favorite ERB ever, so I was actually contemplating on whether or not to put a majority of its verses on here, though I didn’t want to make this video contain multiple verses from the same battles too many times lol.
As for Catherine's verse, I actually think it's either the most or 2nd most well written verse for the entire battle, but the singing kinda ruins it as an actual verse for me, unfortunately. Still, it should still be pretty close to being on the top 50 if I were to make an extended version.

Somehow Lloyd dropping his accent in Ruth's second verse just makes it more awesome. Like Ruth is getting so pissed it's changing the way he talks.
I feel like what makes that verse so good is the line about forgetting what real sportsmanship was. There was literally no coming back from that

I was in college when Elvis vs Micheal Jackson came out, and I was listening to it for the first time in the school library with headphones. When Elvis said "I stole from black culture why are you offended" I said "oh snap!" (or it might've been "oh shit!") out loud before I could stop myself. I had to explain what was going on to the people around me.

It is truly incredible that this show has been around for over a decade (albeit with a few hiatuses in there) and they still reliably produce some of the best entertainment on the internet. TV shows and movie series wish they had that track record. Just goes to show, you don’t need corporate backing or executive overseers to make amazing content; just a good idea and the freedom to pursue it on your own terms. Hats of the Lloyd and Peter!

They actually had a corporate backer for a while. It was like two seasons. That's where the first big delay in released content happened. The backer pulled out and they had to find new revenue. Then they started feeling burnt out on it.

Mikhail Gorbachev's "Shook hands with both Ronalds: Reagan and McDonald's" was just damn good.
I always forget how hard Stevie Wonder whipped Wonder Woman. That whole battle has such good lines, from "DC is a whole step down", "Your first story is you running off with a guy", "lookin like the predator after some chemotherapy" and the best one: "Plots so thin even I can see through". So good.
Theresa vs Freud is still the best one for me, tho.
T-Pain's delivery is so perfect too, they definitely made the right casting choice there
I think the best writing has to be Charles vs Ash. It's just devastating.

Finally, Alexander the Great getting some love. He seems to be forgotten so often. Was expecting Edgar A. Poe's second verse in there somewhere or Stephen King's. That's another battle that kinda flies under the radar
It's his personal list so I'm not really surprised. Most of the references in Poe v. King wouldn't make sense to people who know nothing about their personal lives or works. But for me, that rap battle is one of my favorites. King really went hard with the line "perving on your cousin when she was 13 years old, now that's disturbing" because Poe married his first cousin when she was 13 years old haha.
It is a very underrated verse. I prefer Fredrick the Great’s verse though.

Steve Irwin vs Jacques is one I think is really underappreciated. Irwin's final verse is so good.
I love how everyone universally agrees that Babe Ruth 2 is basically the peak of this series, it's perfect.
I agree! Irwin Vs Custeau is a great battle that people overlook very often. Also the "embrace your french nature and quietly surrender" line from Irwin almost made me choke the first time kfkfkfk

Unironically ERB has some of the rawest lines I've ever heard, it's nuts.
So are we just gonna ignore Vader's first verse in the second battle. I don't think there is a better opening than answering "who are you?" with "Someone who loathes you bitch now stand up and rhyme. I only thawed you out so i can beat your ass a second time." Such a fire line.
He had good lines that verse, but H*tler's verse was so much better that it overshadowed him. Although I do agree it would make sense to have that one in the top 50

I agree vaders opening line went hard, but h*tler hitting back at the end with "What's wrong Ani? cant take anymore? not surprising coming from the emperors whore" is just as brutal, especially since if I remember correctly only his mother and padme called him "Ani" so he really hit vader where it hurt with that one.

The Strap-On line was the setup, the Jason line the destruction and the R Kelly line was the final nail in the coffin.

Douglass is lyrically one of the weakest competitors in ERB. His whole verses were basically just: "You're racist." without dissing Jefferson on anything else.

Great list - and obviously a personal one. The only one that had me surprised was Luke (Verse 1) over Harry (Verse 2). Harry cooked Luke straight up in Verse 2, he never recovered.

Because tbh, I made this vid a little early and ended up putting it like 10-15 spots earlier than it should've been. I think if I were to remake this list, I'd have it as high as 35. It goes pretty hard despite it lacking any good disses though, which was why had it ranked low in the first place.

Luke’s first verse not only being above any of Harry’s verses, but being number two on the list is kinda cap. But overall good list.
idk but most of my favorite erbs tend to also have the best verses, so naturally, i'm going to be putting the harry vs potter ones very highly as well (that battle is like my #2 erb battle ever). luke's first verse is my pick for the best one even though harry's 2nd verse is arguably better, though i do agree that you could make an argument for anything else being higher. i just thought it contained everything i absolutely wanted to see in a rap battle verse... and more.
@@kenjid.guzman1170 it might just be a me thing, but I just liked Harry’s verses more. They generally hit harder, have more memorable disses, and I just like listening to them more. Though, now that I think about it, the third verse might just be carried by the “on one hand” bar.
@@roboticminer8843 biggest reason for me putting luke's verse above harry is because it had not only great disses (bulletproof vest diss hit harder for me than slytherin a sister despite them being relatively equal) but also style. the beat switching multiple times and luke saying that harry outright stole his origin story gives it the slight nod to me.
otherwise, yeah, they're pretty close, but i could still see why you or anyone would prefer harry's verses. it just goes to show how good it was because there's never been such a dissonance (as to who actually won) of that degree in an erb battle.

I was a little surprised by how low Mansa Musa 2 was but I feel like the list overall is pretty valid.
I thought I'd compile the amount of times each rapper had their verse featured in the list. For guests, I wasn't sure if EL or NP wrote that bar so I strictly counted them under Guest. In battles where a guest is performing their role but I can tell if EL's or NP's performing their voice, I didn't count it as a Guest but to whoever's voice it was (Boba Fett for example counted towards NP).

Yes, Zach gets his own count too. I'm surprised Poe v. King didn't make top 50. This list was pretty even if you add Zach's bars with the Guest count and keep in mind I did not count the honorable mentions. I personally have always preferred EL's bars over NP but he's got some good ones too, especially Oppenheimer. My favorite verse has got to be both of Master Chief's or both of Ben Franklin's from way back when.
I agree with most of this the only thing I disagree on are you rating a hitler verse above the best of vaders verses that one shocked me lol
Hitler's verse in his 2nd battle vs Vader is pure savagery lol. Literally better than any of Vader's verses in that regard. If anything, I should've ranked Hitler's verse on this vid even higher.
@@kenjid.guzman1170 Even if some of Hitler’s lines were written well, you’re not supposed to think they’re better than Vader’s. The Vader vs. Hitler trilogy is all about how one-sided it is, because it would look really bad if they made it seem like Hitler came out on top.
So yeah, even though Vader cheats in them, nobody cares since he’s killing arguably the most hateful man in modern history.

That being said, Vader easily won the trilogy, no discussion there. It is a shame that he didn't come away with the best verse in the end though (at least imo), but every single one of Vader's verses at least have a shot at making my top 50, unlike Hitler. Besides, both men are supposed to be hated equally anyway since... you know.... It's just that Vader happens to be a fictional character.
