Beautiful design! The black handle looks cool, too! It looks like either ray skin or crocodile leather. I've always admired how traditional Korean bow makers use isinglass to bind several components of the gakgung including the cover for the outer edge of the bow. Did you also use isinglass to attach the Birch design or something else?
The bow looks indeed very nice! And I admire your technique: you seem to draw relatively easily high weights, even though you are quite muscled, but certainly not very massive. What is your favorite draw length?
@@iyoo1 For example I feel comfortable with drawing 28-29 inches, even though I am capable of drawing 30+. I am sorry, but as you can tell, english is not my first language.
i havent weighted when i made it but i used about 100 grams of material. lots of them are cut out in order to make it fit. including glue weight i would assume 60 grams or so. do't quote me on that though. ^_^;;
dude looks to be about my height, if he is, he's definitly pulling at least 29" possibly 30" which is only an inch shy of the bow's max draw length, given how Korean bows are measured and how they tend to stack, that means he's probably pulling at least 86lbs. doesn't look like torture to me, looks like he's enjoying it, i know i certainly enjoy my 70lb at 30" bow.
@@Xtorin_Housecat_Ohern ahh thanks that’s the one. That’s one of the ones I’ve had my eye on for a while actually but in 60#. I already have the 48” version of it too
Very nice 👍
thanks :)
I like how you left that strip on the belly without bark, makes it look like actual horn inlay :b

haha thanks. no, this is birchbark pattern fabric. i used gorilla glue to wrap it. i havent played with traditional materials yet.
that really does improve the look of the ole monarq, you should post a how-to video

thank you. would you clarify what you mean by 'favorite draw'?

@@Sarantis-ox4ds ah, got it. i draw 32" and that's my draw length. but this bow only allows 29". i tend to like longer draw. :)
@@iyoo1 Thank you very much! I wish you the best!
How did you wrap the birch bark? Did you do it yourself?
How much mass did that add to the bow?

Is that cork?

@iyoo1 just looks much different to my birch bark. ruclips.net/video/VyOrZ1jXxMs/видео.html. Looks more like the new Kaya KTB.

@@Xtorin_Housecat_Ohernwhat height is this bow? I’m just wondering for the max draw length, it’ll likely vary a little at certain heights
@@rooroo9216 for mine or the bow in the video?
the one in the video is a Daylite Archery Monarq heavyweight, which is a 53" long bow
