Very humble guy, you can tell a lot of love and passion went into this. 3sge beams is such an iconic engine that many couldn't have the chance to experience.
I've just BEAMS swapped my S13 all the way out in Cape Town South Africa and now I've come across your channel! Great build and definitely some inspiration for me going forward. Keep up the great work🙌
This is really impressive as im doing a budget build on a 3sge beams but im using a small td04l and 440cc injectors from wrx and im gonna use a thicker head gasket
I have everything for my turbo set up next summer except for injectors I’d like to know exactly which ones if you don’t mind so I can run the same check out my bill, check out yours ruclips.net/video/8C8AAOaU_kw/видео.html
About to do this motor swap in my 1980 Fiat Spider. My beams is still stock NA but would like to put on a turbo also. Do you mind sharing what you needed to do for that motor/electronics wise?
Nice build love when people put the beams and everything your bill is awesome one question did use excessive manufacturing throttle Insert that allows you to get Max throttle because it’s amazing on mine
We are using clutchxperts flywheel and the stock throw out bearing. We had originally tried the clutchxperts clutch and it was fine but Martin wanted more grab for the flick and upgraded the clutch but kept the flywheel
Hey man your swap is very nice, i got myself a beams red top for my celica t18 but im not quite sure about what trans and clutch i need.. could you give me some tips for my project? Greetings from germany
Thank you! The J160 transmission has held up very well for us, I think it comes down to clutch selection to make it last. We had a custom clutch built for ours (which you can buy if you want).
Working on a beams swap for my s13. Curious what you did with your power steering setup. It seems many people run without the stock power steering pump.
Yes, but this turbo set up feels like a juiced up NA, not really any lag and rpm climbs up smooth and fast! I still haven’t unlocked its full potential so I’m gonna go back practicing soon!
Yes, with the stock 11.5:1 compression the engine still makes about 200 hp off boost. When you lower compression you can run more boost, but sometimes you lose that off boost power.
I have a beams swapped 1980 rx7. I used the stock beams motor mounts and modified the rx7 crossmember. Very simple to do and it puts the shifter very close to the stock location.
@@pauloakes6952 good to know, I am waiting on parts going to rebuild the engine bottom to top with the Garrett turbo. I want to keep it around 500 plus.. will send pics in the future..
Yeah there is quite a bit different internally. I think if you are interested in building a setup like this maybe look into buying the manual version and swapping. I'm not sure if you can use the same mounts and whether there is a hole for the shifter but you'll have to look into that.
False, the steel valves are actually better for boost this is common on beams forums for people to swap in auto engines to a j160 because the steel valves hold under boost better.
NA beams would be great as a low power practice drift car for sure. 200hp is enough to practice and learn how to drift, then you can turbo it later when you're ready to step up your drifting.
@@omd_sd I was wondering which of them, because I heard that auto is better for turbo builds because of steel valves but on the other hand every I see is from manual lol
altezza was a brand new platform that costs less than the SS3 celica in 98. dont know what the eff they were thinking. the basically revived a 4 door celica that had shit interior and terrible aerodynamics. missed opportunity to make the celica rwd and continue on from its 3rd gen predecessor
I always thought they introduced the Altezza as another JDM alternative to the e46, but what you brought up could be a different way of looking at it's demise.I could still remember best motoring were pitting this against the s2000 and the rx-8 as the most budget friendly "new-type NA" back when it just came out.
@@K0Y0I_sis the world was ready for a ae86 successor, which toyota sort of answered with the altezza. you got a rwd 2.0 litr engine but a heavy 3000lb chassis. the fact is, that the aftermarket support was so huge for the sxe10, it showed that people were willing to pay good money for a good quality rwd celica for the new generation. just look at the evolution of the IS now. they had the ISF, RCF and now an IS500. celica's used to compete with for mustang back in the 70's. toyota ultimately failed to answer the call for a RWD sports car and the Subaru BRZ literally smacked toyota across the face with it
hey martin! Big fan of your Beams build on your S14 and knew you threw watching Joshs channel (E_ought) , i was hoping i had a couple of questions on my build on my channel. I have a Is300 with a NA 2JZ Auto and im getting alot of advices and opinions to keep the 2J and get a R154 swap on it and boost it and call it a day. As im in your situation the money on the 2JZ and R154 transmissions are just WAY more on my budget. I was hoping you can give me some pointers on moving to a Altezza Beams motor with a manual transmission and go boost like your build. Hit me up on my IG LAUNCH D. thanks!
Hey man, thank you for the support. Really there's not a whole lot to the Beams swap. A good quality turbo is definitely very important. We use the G25 660 .92 AR. And then you have to use e85 to keep the internal engine temps down. Lastly it's setting up the cams and cam timing. Firstly we opened up the gap to allow extra expansion from heat and then set our own cam timing without VVTi. Best of luck 🤙🏽
Finally a RUclips video that shows the capability of this beautiful motor! Love it my dude she sounds sickkk🤙🏼

So many people sleep on the Beams, and idk why. It's a great engine and it REVS TO DA MOON

It did come with a turbo the 3s gte in the caldina gt four
Im putting together an rx8 with one of these! so excited!

The price of beams just went theough the roof! But you are about to make a killing in the schassis world with this swap.

Aww I wanna do this to my beams swapped cressida, running an ITB setup on it now hopefully I can build a spare motor like this on the side

Is the Dual vvti still enabled with your toda cam gears or it is just static?
We got rid of the variable cam timing and set it up fixed where we wanted it

Our own custom wiring harness. With DTA fast ECU and gauge cluster

Yes it was, as was the stainless steel exhaust flange
