Neat! Same principle as roll-folding your socks. Never thought it could be applied to tarp/lavuu shelter as well. Am impressed and have just subscribed. Like your natural candle video too. Thanks for the valuable insights Swedwoods.
The bigger the Item is I tend to do this. Because its so nice to not need small straps for something you carry outside of the backpack. And I always loose those small straps. Key is to get it tight, and sure you are right about that will be harder on the feathering forest floor after camp. But you learn. I roll it on my sleep mat. Its only the final few turns when you roll it you need to go really hard. And brush off after each turn so you dont roll half the forest in there :-). Other items thats great folding like this is big sweaters, pants, raincoats etc. They slide down inside of the pack so nice and disappear, in comparison to if you just push them down there.
Hey Swedwood. I got my Nato Tipi yesterday. I packed it this way you did, thanks for your advice and video! Reminds me on how the german army is rolling/packing most of equips for example t-shirts or uniform stuff. Totally forgot that about my basic training at the time. Best vids on youtube for me!
LOL...thanks. Yes that one have to be practiced some before it works good. Two things that can go wrong is that you don't make that flap in the end big enough and that you don't roll it snug enough!
Kul att du gillar metoden. Har varit så duktig när jag ska ut och rullat ihop den på detta vis..men sen när jag ska hem orkar jag sällan med det utan pular bara in skiten i väskan 😁
I laughed out loud sitting in my living room in the dark when you hit the door...😂 I think my wife would have hit me just as hard had I have done that😂 😂
Nicely done, I have got mine to fold up neatly but the not used this cuff curl method to hold it all neatly together. Have you treated your Lavvu with anything?
Me watching this: Hmm, nice shelter halves.... How does he go from a triangle to a rectangle but keep things smooth and even? .....oh! Ok, I got it...some clever laavvu origami! .....wait....ok, so what is the point of the folded cuff on the end? .....is he....? ....you mean....?? ...WOW! Ok, I get it now! That is so clever!
Yeah I'm damaged from doing so many videos. I need a start an a end. So had to wrap it up somehow to get the feeling of a end scene. You get it? Wrap it up LOL?
Five years later, and the way you just bung it at the door still gets a chuckle out of me. 😂
The ending was like “Dropping The Mic!”
You are a bad (good) dude, bro!
I like your style.
Man, you have your sh!t down.
Thanks!
😂😂😂😂 lol at "mic drop"

Thanks a lot and welcome to my channel!
Huh? Roll folding your socks? Never heard of such.
The confidence that comes from doing things well is not given by anything else!
Very good way to fold and carry a tipi. A little more difficult to roll it back this way after camp, but it's worth a try.

Very cool!!! I got close, but folding it the way you did is awesome! Thanks for another great video!
Just tried this today with the lavvu halves buttoned together, and works great. Just a little bit bigger roll!! Thanks again!!
Blinding result. Every day is a school day. Thanks for sharing ATB
Thanks!
Yup that's pretty slick and I'll definitely have to give it a bash on those one nighter's in the summer by the river
Wow! Excellent stuff. Thanks so much.
Thanks!
Excellent
I use this technique to role up clothing when I travel but to use it on thick canvas is impressive. 👍
Thanks!
Hahaha. Epic ending but I must now practice lol. Thanks for sharing

Reminds me of a German army sleeping bag that folded into it’s hood, neat job 👍🏻
Thank you!
It's a really good job! I'm impressed. It's a bit like Russian greatcoat folding..

Tack för att du lärde ut detta! Så jäkla mycket lättare att spänna fast den på ryggsäcken nu! 😊👍👍👍

Very articulated👌
Most of us would have stuffed it in a Walmart sack and called it good.
What did that door ever do to you?😂
Very cool man , very cool
🤣
Best hack ever! Thank you:-)
Im going to Burning Man and need to pack all my stuff as compact as possible, this really helps.

"Always fine tip from your special school"
"Swedwoods one great Thanks"
Thanks!
Strictly speaking, that's the half Lavvu (one poncho) or tipi - but the same principle applies. Either way, it's a smart way to pack! :D
Thanks!
Great Stuff!!! Thank you for this Idea!! Thank you und best whishes from Switzerland...
Thanks you are most welcome. Atb
Great vid. Helped me out a lot. Cheers.
Thanks for watching!

Just brilliant

It could't be more magic if he'd pulled a rabbit out of it! I've watched it and I still doubt I could do it!
😂😂
Great job
Great method.
Thanks!
This is great. Is that with 2 or 3 buttoned together? Or just a single?
Thanks. Single poncho
Great video! Can you suggest how to do the same with two of them combined into a single tent?
just put them together and apply same principle. But its more difficult. takes a lot of practice. Thanks!
perfect ending
Thanks Rick!
Great video man. Thanks 🙏 Do you know a good method for keeping the Lavvu clean?
No thats not a problem with canvas I think. Easy to clean and very durable material. Thanks!
Very neat
Thanks!
Fantastic. Can you post The Video with double tend roll package?
Its the same thing. Just apply same principle with two ponchos.
I have a Helsport Varanger Camp 4 to 6 man, this would be a tough operation on it. LOL
But, I will definitely use it on my tarp though. :)
LOL I can see that!
I was like, just why until the end and then, wow!
Thanks!
Brilliant!
Was that two (2) ponchos? It looked like it. Nice fold.
Thanks! one. if you fold 2 apply the same principal
Me watching this:

thank you so much!!

hi , tent is about 1.45 cm and 1,00 metre ?
Origami for Outdoor-Freaks. ;-)
😂
How can you do it with both joined together
"How to carry house through bush"
👍
hey, is it one or two-attached ponchos??? I believed that I needed only one poncho for building tent, but today I learned I need two ^^...
One is a working shelter half. To make a Lavvu you need two.
Was that 1 half or a full bit?
1 poncho. Same principle applied on 2 buttoned together.
@@Swedwoods cheers, that's made a decision on buying a Laavu myuch easier.
which lavvu is that?
The polish lavvu made of two canvas ponchos buttoned together. Here i only roll one of them but the principle is the same for any triangular cloth.

Klockrent👍
Tackar! Gott nytt år på dig Jimmy!
@@Swedwoods Tack detsamma👍
Jag är lite sugen på att skaffa mig ett polskt lavvu-tält. Tror du man får plats i två st storlek 1 om man är 190 cm? Tacksam för svar!

Your strategy is silence. I respect this. Will you play the piano instead? ;)
Thanks...nope only guitar.
How much for lavvu tent?
5 dollars to 150 dollars depending on where and how you get it.
Har du köpt den på röda stjärnan?
Mkt möjligt, minns inte.
@@Swedwoods ok tack ändå!
