- I had the most wholesome mother of all time - Join my adventure in this online game, it's a multiplayer life sim, where you are born as a baby and age one year every minute, up to an hour, trying to live your life. When players join they might be born to you! Yeah you grow up and have your own babies. Scary. One Hour One Life has got a steep learning curve and is chaotic most of the time but this was a really nice life lived through that I thought i'd share as it might be a good getting started point for some to watch. We had a great mother who helped us and it was just generally wholesome. Enjoy! Make sure you hit like and subscribe and leave me a comment!

That was very emotional. We'll never forget you ma.
the fact that he'll never know who the person behind the screen is, is saddening
That pie plotline had me gutted.
Off topic but i love your pfp! Did you draw it?
The biggest thing that sets this game apart from other games is that you aren't working toward your own comfort and achievements, but you're working to set up a life for another player coming after you. Everywhere else, you are playing to be better, stronger, with better technology, because you know it will help you, but here you do it to help someone else.
very true
True, it's such a great and unique concept!
We either strive to be better to help others, or to help ourselves. In a society, both reasons coincide and help us all
Ayy, Hungarian Czechish, cheers
Arguably, it's a bit of both. Starting out, your main focus is to survive. Once you are in a position where that is doable you work to continue surviving. If you don't, the odds of dying early go up. You work to make your survival easier for yourself and for your immediate loved ones, because you want comfort for yourself and them. You work to make things more comfortable so that your decendants will have an easier time after you, but also because there is a chance you'll be reborn. So, you want to set up the future to be an easy and comfortable one - not just for your descendants, but also for a potential future you.
When Precious died, I thought wow, you moved on quickly, because it’s all about survival. So when Ma is about to die, and daughter asking to move South, i thought you would prioritize survival first. But you didn’t. You decided to stay with Ma. Such twists and turns. It’s like watching a movie with a redemption arc.
I’ve only seen bits and pieces of this game but for 46 minutes, I couldn’t stop watching, i totally didn’t cry when Ma died 🥲
O no spoiler
I think they should add a spectating feature so you’re able to watch your lineage grow and see how long your family line lasts.

Ones i stared as an eve build up a good base, died of old age. Spawned there 2 days later and it was a whole town. Really satisfying
Its such a novel concept to me that you start the game off not only as a baby, but as another player's baby. Most life sim games would have you customize your character and live with other computers, but imagine instead that you enter this life and you inherit the genetics from your parents, and you need to be taken care of until you grow up. Its such a neat idea.
I wish to see more games with this idea, it’s super interesting and makes some fun dynamics between players.
There are actually some games that do that, or at least allow for that. These are typically online creature survival games, such as The Isle, Beasts of Bermuda and Creatures of Sonaria, for example. The players there play as a dinosaur or a reptile or some kind of a monster and can hatch other players. The offspring will inherit the species, and, depending on the game, may also inherit the colors of the coat and maybe even some of the skill tree as bonus points.
Ok, how tf did the first players look like?
I'm thinking the idea could probably be an Adam and Eve deal, they held the genetic potential for the entire human race, so their children will all have a diverse range of appearances, until eventually you have identifiable distinct groups.
One thing I would change about the game tho, or perhaps approach it differently in a different game, would be to not have the women randomly pop out babies. It seems really inconvenient.
Yeah. The cool thing is, this game can almost be anything because of how much freedom you have. It’s literally life. Like, I’ve always wanted a game where you can be the NPC merchant, blacksmith, etc., and the whole thing is 100% player economy and workers, and you can probably be a merchant in this game trading stuff. Really cool game.

What could have happened to Precious to get bloody? Was curious about it
So many good moments, but nothing as good as what happened in the ending. The three generations all discuss their next move as a family; the granddaughter, born gifted with knowledge, pleads with the player and Ma to go South; the grandmother, knowing it’s too late for her, saying she’s fine where she is. Our player is split, but time forces them all to go their separate ways. We watch as Ma passes away, and as we dwell in the moment the sentimental music hits, and we are still with grief, alone. Soon the player, overcome with grief to the point where they did not pay attention to their own well being fast enough, dies alone in the wilderness.
That was a whole movie in what, 30 seconds?

Also the baby? When the baby passed because the player was too old for milk made me cry, the one who passed cuz of the animal made me cry too, the part where the only remaining daughter asked for help made me cry harder when the player stayed and died in the wilderness, it was not an action filled fantasy face slapping story but it made me wish there was another ending where they were all alive and thriving...
And when Mom and Grandma were standing around Precious during her last moments.
That has got to be the by far calmest Eve run I have ever seen. Normally they are absolute chaos with everyone scrambling around to get the basics and getting enough food.

This is for anyone who plays OHOL.
For experienced players: how to handle new players. Rule of thumb is to be respectful and answer questions. If a player is lost or aimless, find an aspect of the village that is lacking and teach them there. If you don't know, ask someone else. Someone is bound to help. If push comes to shove, the wiki is a useful tool.
For new players: this game can be intimidating; trust me, everyone's been where you are. If there is a plethora of options and you don't know what to do, I recommend starting with cooking, but go wherever you're needed. Ask specific questions. Follow others' lead. Some will be mean to new players, but most should be understanding. You got this.
This game beautifully represents society in a way none else have. Keep that in mind when playing. It will be hard. But you can do it. I believe in you.
Honestly this dynamic sounds like the game "don't starve together" a bit, it's also a lot to learn
I haven't played in a couple of years, so I'm basically a new player again. But I remember to do the tutorial and water the berries.
Honestly kinda like IRL. There's no official manual or guide if someone doesn't help you. Your success as an unseasoned player highly depends on being around compassionate people
Also to anyone who plays, if you’d be willing to record your gameplay, even without talking, let me know! You’ll have at least one consistent viewer!

What i learnt about life frm this game:
Set a high goal (pie) and you and your offspring will have a meaningful life working towards it even if you never get the pie.
Wisdom is not related to age because some souls might come into the world somehow knowing more than their parents
Continuing a bloodline might be important is reincarnation is real.
The family you are born into dramatically changes the direction of your life
speaks volumes about reality.
Notice how when precious dies, he doesnt dwell on it and says there are more important things and continues the pie quest, but when his ma dies, he is sentimental and it causes him to not realize his own hunger, and he dies because of it. This game has a harsh balance of caring about others or yourself
3 mins in already and I’m dying “treat yourself mum”
“Are we running away from that lady ? With the four kids ? Do what you gotta do mum !”
we honestly need more games where being a new player means we require help from more advanced ones, it makes such a cool dynamic aswell as having a progressive learning curve
“Sky - Children of the light” is something similar to this if you didn’t knew this game you should try it out and as far as I know it’s free :))
You should definitely try out Sky! I enjoy helping new players out so much there. The graphics, music and gameplay is absolutely beautiful, and yep it’s free :D
I play Sky more than a year now. It can be quite tiring to farm game currency often and boring after you finish playing the main story and explore and do stuff, but I try to take small breaks when needed and come back to the game again. You can just goof around with friends, help new players, do random stuff with strangers and meet new people. Not to mention the graphics as someone already said above my comment. It is a great experience and I think you'll enjoy it!
@@catea1._ I’ve been playing for 2 years now, and while it can be seen as tiring, I find it therapeutic. During busy times though I understand trying to find the time to farm will be stressful. I love meeting people, playing music like it’s a live performance and visiting beautiful areas :D Do take a break once in a while if you want to!
If warframe embraced this mechanic, which is already in the player base's culture, I would start playing again.
Ah, the quest for pie. Driving force of civilisation.
“You can’t die without giving me pie! You promised!” 😂
A day with pie is always a good day
😂😭
Reminds me of a train of thought Carl Sagan sent me down.
"To make a pie from scratch, you first have to make the universe."
So I started thinking about how unethical it would be and whether or not it would be worth it to create a whole universe, which will presumably develop sentient life who will suffer greatly for it, just to make a pie from scratch.
Ultimately though, it's worth it. You can make it up to that sentient life by teaching them to make pie.
Some good old fashioned steak and eelers
I spoiled myself :(((
"she owes me a pie"
Ma: dies on the spot
"NOOOO!!"
I laughed out loud quite hard when that happened it was so sudden and brutal 😂
I was weary of that player dying because it's a player that actually cared and did really well. But that player went out with a "lol" instead of making me cry
“I wish I was a guy because when babies start popping out of me it’s going to make things really difficult”
Nothing truer has ever been said.
“Can you still get milk from me? I’m dusty” *baby dies* 😂😂

Kinda wish the sims had a online concept like this where a player can start out as another players child and just go through life. Maybe make each neighborhood a server and have other players as neighbors, if possible give it the open world treatment like the sims 3 and let player kids ride a school bus to school and stuff
I would really like a modern sims multiplayer like this. But when there were rumors of Sims 5 being multiplayer, most of the community seemed against it.
I think what I would like best is worlds like we have now, for our own games. But destination worlds could be multiplayer/servers.
@@danitho In the sims 3 they had a system kinda similar to that in a Katy Perry expansion. It allowed another players sim to travel to your game and perform a show there.

I had a similar idea in 1995 and even wrote a lengthy description of how such a game would work, etc. Even managed to implement basic interactions and networking in 2005. But then I gave up. Behind the apparent simplicity of a "game if life" like that, there is huge complexity in making human interactions compelling. There are also aspects related to interaction with the environment, technological evolution, balancing workload and threats (so that people don't keep dying). And also, what happens to your character when you log out.
All these aspects, I couldn't manage to balance them. So I'm very glad to see that someone had this idea and managed to make it work. It takes lots of vision, talent and hard work.

I got so sad when the mom died :') may she have all the pies in heaven! She was a great mom
I really loved this playthrough, and your voice is really soothing too! Makes for a relaxing and enjoyable break from my university studies~
this was so wholesome i really hope the mother watched this vid and heard you call her the best mother ever
I just happened across this on my RUclips recommendations and I'm instantly in love with it and you, the game seems so fun and your personality made it an even better experience!
This is wild. I've always wanted a game like this. Ideally, I would have wanted an infinite sim and not an hour but the concept is unique and it helps with th whole online multiplayer thing bc it only lasts an hour
There late two games that I know of like this and are not multiplayer that I know of the first I’d kynseed it’s a little hard to understand but once you get it it’s very fun. The other is called Ages of Cataria which is still in development and is expected to come out 2024
The one hour thing is what allows you to capture the life is short feeling.
same
@@Vespyr_ Would be nice to have an option to rejoin as a new baby if that isn't there already. Playing as one if your descendants is badass
@@boianko yeah, are you able to re-enter the same group at all?
Just got this in my recommended and what a nice game! The mom was so nice and I really hope Cada got to continue the legacy
They lived to 60!
@@irljellywyrm rlly.
Same, saw it randomly too!
@@seansswamp And yes really. Morph said it in another comment section 😁
@@Teddy98 ohhh
I checked out the game on steam (didn't buy it) and I think everyone that didn't like it probably didn't get the point.
They're like "there are griefers"
Yeah buddy, just like real life, there are people who want to destroy everything.
They're like "I didn't know what to do and was so lost"
Yeah buddy, did you automatically know what to do irl when you were born?
They're like "I die too early, so I can't experience the actual game"
Yeah buddy, you just experienced the game by dying, just like some children die in *_real_* life.
I think people misconstrue this as a game you're supposed to win, rather than a game you're supposed to experience. And I got this point from just 10 minutes of it.. soooo...
the learning curve on this game is crazy, i've played it a lot but had to spend hours with it and a wikipedia up to learn things and I still know almost nothing, i basically just make fire and eggs lol
but you're totally right that's part of it and learning from other players is the most satisfying part of the game, when a player teaches you how to make what THEY know and are good at, it's very enriching. Lots of people do ditch it straight away for being too hard and that's ok, this game is more like a social experiment / art I think
@@TheRealQueenCobra I'm not enlightened, I just understood what this game is supposed to be unlike many apparently.
@@TheRealQueenCobra so ignorant, so unlikeable
@@spacetaco048 So you like everything you understand? I think you are wrong to say people dislike games based on their capability of understanding the idea behind the game. So lets say you may like the idea, but still having to spend 2/3 of all the time playing just to find food is dump. As the streamer said, he has no tome for social interaction cus everyone is starving. Also I think they should be able to find people they played with and who died. Otherwise the game gives distant vobes
@@delanmorstik7619 For some games, you have to have a certain mindset in order to enjoy them. If you don’t, it’s not the game’s fault. You just don’t like it. That doesn’t make the game bad.
"Do you still get milk?"
"No." *instantly dies*
Thank you for all the good-natured laughs. Was entertaining to watch your interactions.
It's really interesting how you bonded with your sim mom, then very briefly bonded with your first sim baby when you brought her home to your mom.
Then, continued the bond with your sim mom but your baby was so independent that you didn't really bond with them.
Then when your sim kid wanted you to go with her to start her new life, but you chose your sim mom over the kid lmao
Also, at some point you had a baby at a completely inconvenient time so you tried to abandon it
Just all around super neat to watch the dynamics
This game is killing me about how adorable it is, I want this in my life. Once I get the materials I need I will play this game so hardcore omg. I love this, thank you for showing this to me, my first vid of you was you playing a mobile game I played a while back, it was "my child lebensborn". That game BROKE ME. I wasn't ready and now I'm for this game I didn't even watch the whole thing and I'm already subbed thanks to this. You was recommended to me by RUclips actually....so yay you and RUclips for giving me this
You're a pretty adorable person yourself. c:
Take care~
I got a little choked up when u gave her a carrot and told her u loved her
this is my first video i've seen of yours, and i just wanna say apart from the extremely wholesome gameplay with Ma, you seem like such a chill and funny person! the time flew by when i watched, this was very entertaining!
