    Apart from the connector, are the two pumps assemblies interchangeable? I found a cheap older pump assembly and I was thinking on using it on my 06 bike.

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  2 года назад +2

      The pump itself interchangeable. If you’re just going to buy the other assembly to take the pump out of it and install it in your assembly. My recommendation if you’re trying to go for a cheaper option is to rebuild your existing pump with a quantum rebuild kit or even a replacement Miata fuel pump.

    I went with the quantum pump, have no idea what to do with the wires that came with the pump tho. I have a 2003 Sv650s and the pump wires have a connector part on them that I can’t figure out to use. Can I just use the factory Wires on the new pump or do I have to figure out what to do with the new wires?

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  2 года назад

      If the wires have a pigtail. It may just be an adapter harness for the new pump. Try plugging the OEM harness into the Quantum pump. If it doesn’t connect. You will have to cut and splice the supplied pigtail to install the pump.

    This probably isn't the place for it but what do you recommend for removing scuffs in the paint/plastic cowls? I just bought an '07 and it looks like the guy wiped out in grass instead of asphalt cuz of the light brien color of the scuff

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  2 года назад +1

      Hey there. It honestly depends on how deep the scuffs are. If the scuffs have penetrated the paint. There’s really no way to undo them. But if they’re surface scuffs, you may be able to get lucky with a cut and buff. You can use some turtle wax rubbing compound followed by some turtle wax polish. But if you have the means for it and know a detailer that does paint correction. I would ask them for an opinion if it is salvageable since they can look at it in person and then pay them to just do the entire bike. You’ll be much happier with the results and you won’t have to invest in the polishing tools which can be pretty expensive. I hope this helps! So my hp fuel filter is what is clogging my 2008 sv650 fuel system. Odds I could get away with using a hp fuel filter from the older generation (the black body) but use everything else from the 08 fuel pump setup? I know the fuel pressure regulator seems to be in a slightly different spot, but other than that it looks the same.
    FYI reason I’m considering this is because I can find an aftermarket hp fuel filter for the old model but not for the 08 model.

    • @PASSIONBUILT

      To be honest. I’m not sure. You probably could make a Frankenstein fuel pump assembly from the 2. If it works out for you. Please report back so the rest of the community knows if that works or not.

    What causes the fuel tanks to rust on the SV650? Will they rust if you ride the bike a few times a month?

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  Месяц назад

      Fuel tanks rust due to moisture getting inside of the tank. If you have a properly sealed tank and use quality gas. You will never have to worry about rust. If your tank is rusting. Check the rubber gasket around the underside of your fuel door.

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  8 месяцев назад

      A bad fuel pump can cause sputtering, no start, intermittent start, cut out, etc. a rusty fuel tank will eventually lead to rust breaking off and getting sucked into your fuel pump filter resulting in possible fuel pump failure or a clogged pump.
